I wish I was as successful at what I should be doing as I am at procrastinating. Today's list: planning next week's lessons, emptying suitcase and washing from minibreak, cooking lunch. Achieved: finishing book and starting new one, catching up on emails and Gransnet. ?

I was once told that procrastinating (because I'm very good at it} was just fear of failure........ so at least I am successful at something........

I read a psychology article (probably when I should've been hoovering) about procrastination. Apparently, one of the reasons we do it is because we can! We spend our childhood being ordered about by our parents so, in areas of our lives where we are free to choose, we often choose not to get on with 'ought to' tasks. It's a form of subconscious defiance!

Got my list and working my way through it, dinner on go, airing cupboard sorted out now off to garden centre. I love a list.

Good heavens. No :-) I am retired. After 42 years on the treadmill. Getting up at 5.30 am to navigate traffic. I am quite happy to chill :-) x

Procrastination is one of the joys of being a 'more mature' person IMO. I have all kinds of things to do, but have already decided that I will not be doing them today. I may not even do them tomorrow. On the other hand, I need to sort through my wardrobe to start making a pile of unworn 'stuff' for charity shop. No doubt this will take most of the morning, as I'm Queen Dither when it comes to deciding what goes and what stays. I prefer to do this when I'm home alone, as DD and DGD find my agonising over this highly amusing. Think I'll have a coffee and see how I feel afterwards.

I was thinking of making a list of the things I have to do then I found this thread and anyway it is Sunday and isn't that supposed to be a day of rest? There's the London Marathon on TV I think there's enough activity there to cover the whole country. I shall provide some balance by doing very little. I might make myself a cup of coffee (in a bit).

The washing machine has just finished its cycle and is beeping like a mad thing. If I ignore it for long enough, it'll shut up and then I can carry on playing on Gransnet, drinking coffee, reading the paper (in bits while I potter around doing other bits and pieces including looking out of the window and wonder about dead-heading a few daffs). Oh, and I'm not even dressed yet.

Himself, on the other hand, has been up and dressed for ages, been to the dump, cut the grass and now gone off to play golf.

So ... yes, I do procrastinate and the washing machine has now given up beeping, so that can wait ... while I check the weather forecast for here, where we are going next weekend, London where my son is in the Marathon, our holiday destination at the end of May ... by which time my coffee will be cold and I shall make a fresh one ...

May just update the Ocado order for Thursday too while I'm here ...

As I get older I procrastinate more than ever I feel like it's my right of passage as I live alone and tend to think so what life is to short .

And what's wrong with doggie t-shirts? Our grand-dog loves hers...

I have been procrastinating all day. Mainly because I am so blooming tired! Just got round to popping to the shop and making a cake. Now having to have a sit down. I guess we shouldn't expect to do as much in our sixties and seventies as we did in our forties and fifties. Maybe it's procrastinating for a good reason.

Lists are good. They make you feel you are being pro-active even if it is a form of procrastinating....

I made a list to help me overcome my constant procrastinating, but my son bought the children over because of a mummy medical emergency so nothing done today..mummy back home now so emergency over. Bedrooms still a mess. Still it was a fab excuse.

High Priestess of procrastination here, but T shirts for dogs is a step too far.

ninathenana Sat 23-Apr-16 18:59:55

I got up with every intention of tackling the pile of clean laundry on the chair in the bedroom....

Spent the morning with D slagging of her estranged husband. She then went out and.........maybe tomorrow.

Jalima Sat 23-Apr-16 16:06:41

I should be cleaning bedrooms and re-making beds but have been out and about and am now on here.
However - the vacuum cleaner has broken so that is not really procrastinating, is it?
Although I do have another one .....

PRINTMISS Sat 23-Apr-16 16:06:24

I'll join you.........

crun Sat 23-Apr-16 15:28:16

I was thinking of posting something on this thread now, but I'll leave it till tomorrow.....

rubylady Sat 23-Apr-16 15:16:04

Yes, little t shirts for my little doggie. smile

rosesarered Sat 23-Apr-16 15:11:16

Dog clothes? hmm

rubylady Sat 23-Apr-16 15:06:13

I'm very good at it today. I have loads to be doing but being on here and ebay looking for dog clothes seems so much more inviting than doing what I should be doing.

Anyone else putting off what they should be doing today? grin
