OK, righteous ones, I've seen reason. I should have expressed it like this.

I do not want Charles ever to be king. So, if he should happen to die of natural causes before the Queen does, I shall not care one jot, except for his family's sake.

It's not evil not to care if someone is dead/dies naturally and so can't do something one sincerely hopes they won't ever get the chance to do.

On a personal level, I might like Charles well enough, but as king, nope.

I like Charles. He's not afraid to have a go at putting his own take on 'having the common touch' whatever that is. Who else would have agreed to that excruciating programme with Ant and Dec just so the Prince's Trust could get a well earned pat on the back.

We've got to know him over the years in a 'cuddly old uncle' sort of way. I love his wacky sense of humour and his sense of duty has never been in question. He cares deeply about his causes and anyone who loves his garden like he does is OK by me

The system is the only reason that she is the queen, primogeniture.
If you go back to how her grandfather inherited the Bowes-Lyon, you'll find it's only the money side of it, the Bowes money, from the coalfields of Durham, that made her as important as she was.
In fact, when the queen mother was married, the Bowes-Lyons had to sell a castle to pay for the wedding.
The latest Earl of Strathmore died in February.
He had been a government whip in the House of Lords, and helped John Major get the Maastricht Bill on the Statute book. He has four sons, so that should keep the line going, but if they die without sons, the title will pass onto his brother.

"I so don't care" thread now into it's 5th page whereas 90th birthday greetings for The Queen a mere 3 pages. Why do those that allegedly don't care keep coming back to pick it over, it's all been said. Quite accept there are two valid points of view those that don't want a monarchy and think they are a waste of public money I can see that. I think it should be borne it mind there are others that don't live in the real world, an example that springs to mind Brussels bureaucrats all living the life of Riley on public money, heads of Health Trust who after making a complete Horlicks of what they are supposed to preside over, get moved on with a huge payout and another inflated salary to mess up again, could go on, but on balance, after much thought, I think the nuclear members of the royal family in some ways justify their expense, particularly The Queen.

I say what I think and sometimes I use a perfectly common and ordinary figure of speech (as I've already explained) to do so which some self-righteous twits take pleasure in being holier than thou about.

I think it would be a bad thing for the country and for the monarchy if Charles becomes king. He simply doesn't take on board what has made the current queen's reign so successful, namely keeping her own political opinions to herself. That is what we pay them to do. Charles won't.

I'm not the only person who thinks that Charles as king would not be a good thing.
