Victoria Wood has died

Yes, Acorn Antiques was brilliant - and "two soups" holds a special place for me.

I watched the tribute to Victoria Wood last night, and just as seeing footage of Prince, a passing of a great and versatile talent. I'm going to stick my neck out and say, possibly she was our greatest female comedienne. Forgot how great a parody of rather amateur soaps, Acorn Antiques was. Julie Walters and Celia Imrie had some of their finest comedy moments through Victoria Wood's writing, who can ever forget the sublime Mrs Overall

I'm sitting here with tears rolling down my face. I've just finished watching BBC2's tribute Victoria Wood: Seen on TV and I felt so choked to see her literally bouncing with joy on her piano stool at the finish of 'The Ballad of Freda and Barry'. All that joie de vivre gone
What was particularly poignant was something Julie Walters said in an old recorded interview - "Massive talent is the secret of her longevity".
I will so miss this amazingly talented lady.

They dared a lad from Surrey called Murray, to ring the police and order a curry. He got locked up, it was a bit of a worry, but they don't have to see him again.

What about that sketch about swimming the Channel - Victoria lolloping off into the sea with no support vessel and a duffel bag strapped round her (I've put my sandwiches in a box so they'll probably stay dry). The world really needs more people like her

She must be well thought of as I think there at least 3 threads to her memory. 62 is young though isn't it?

Age 62 is way too young for anyone to die. for her family and fans.

I didn't find her at all funny, but thought her acting abilities were very good, and a shame she didn't do more, as the Mother in the Morecambe and Wise story she excelled, as did Vic Reeves as the Father.

I owe Victoria Wood a lot. Without her I might never have discovered what a turn on it is to be beaten on the bottom with a Woman's Weekly.

Sad news indeed. This wonderful lady will be missed.

I remember seeing her live at Warwick University many years ago. She was very funny and a couple of lines from a song have stayed with me.

I didn't like Let's do It but loved nearly all of her other stuff.

My favourites were Tracey Clegg and Nicola Battersby.
They rendezvous in front of a pillar. Tracey’s tall like Jonathan Miller. Nicola’s more like Guy the Gorilla, if Guy the Gorilla were thick.

I couldn't ever sing it for laughing. We're so lucky to have had her.

She was my absolute favourite, like others here I loved the "lets do it" song especially the bit about the hostess trolley I took a lot of stick from friends when I was younger I was the only one in our group that had one!

So talented and she's the same age as me so that hits home . It seems from what was said on the news that it was a short illness so a terrible shock for her family. Television will never be the same again, I was never lucky enough to see her live RIP we won't see such unique talent again

I saw lots about her on Twitter and it never crossed my mind that it was because she had died- I was so shocked. She was so talented.

I was so shocked to hear this. Only 62. I didn't realise she was ill, but she was a very private person.

She was a great comedian and writer and her serious stuff was excellent too. Housewife 49 was truly moving.

I can still remember the first time I saw her. So clever and so funny.

I've never looked at Woman's Weekly in the same way since So clever and funny!

That was the line quoted on North West Tonight * Terribull* as the one remembered most. For me,apart from everything in Dinnerladies it has to be " can you see it on the trolley" when serving lunch to business types in suits. So sadly missed.

Sad news-a lost talent. Did she keep her illness quiet then? I don't recall hearing anything about it?
Trouble is all us baby boomers are all coming up to a certain age. . . .

What a shame such a talent, very funny woman, highly original, I remember her acting with Julie Walters years ago before they became very well known. She was so multi talented. Laughed out loud when I first heard her perform "Let's do it" particularly, the line "Bend me over backwards on my hostess trolley" among other great references in that song, "beat me on the bottom with the Woman's Weekly" I think was another. She will be missed by many of us I'm sure.

I was terribly saddened to hear this news this afternoon. She was always so full of life, so full of energy and fun, it just doesn't seem possible that all that has gone. What a terrible tragedy. Her brilliance will surely live on - some stars are made to shine forever.

I haven't got a waist. I've just got a sort of place, a bit like an unmarked level crossing. Yep I can relate to that! RIP Victoria, you have been loved by so many, and very few people can say that

My favourite line was, "We didn't have dyslexia in my school, they were sat at the back with raffia".
