Yes, me too! My daughter notices just as much as me. When I said to our youngest GGS 'Oh your'e so bonny', she said I sounded just like Granny. She also says when someone is having problems, 'Come on Mum, just think of one of Granny's sayings'.

I also have a handbag with spare stuff in it, tissues, plasters, mints, tape measure etc. The thing is I'm the one who gets asked for these things when we're out.
I even come out with the grumpy Granny things too!

I look like my mother (same number of chins and amount of cellulite) and she looked like her mother....

I also found I was starting to say the same things and have the same outlook on life - so I've gone back on the HRT and became myself again.

I see mum when I look in the mirror, which scares me a bit and I find myself using the same mannerisms as her. My D has said a few times "You sound like your mother" regarding what I say, not how I say it. Although I can't see that one.
Nankate it was my grandmother that had the foxes mints in her pocket smile

Understandable after the life you have had with you mum Kitty as described on another thread.

I'm sure your DC will have a totally different view of you, to what you have of your mum, which is a positive result. My DS says he likes all the laughs we have together, which is enough for me.

I am not remotely like my mother, and in most ways I am quite glad, much as I loved her

But in quite separate circumstances different people described the effect of my DM and my late DSis coming into a room as being like opening champagne. the dullest event began to sparkle when they arrived. No-one will ever use that analogy for me. I wish I had that ability to sparkle .

I agree with ga - I aim never to become like my mother in any way!!

Having only recently become a nanny, I have felt a new sense of respect and love for my dear mum. I wish she were here to see her GGS. I hope I am like her, -if I can be half the nanny she was to my GCs, I won't have done badly. She was a very kind and patient woman - I don't think I have as much patience as she did!!!

I have to say that I do get bit cross when family members tell me that I look like my mother. She was a stunningly beautiful woman and remained lovely with skin like silk – a bit like that actress who played "Old Rose in Titanic" until she died at 92. However, I am only about to be 66 so I feel a bit iffy about that.

I have just spent a lovely morning at the local market and a yummy lunchtime with absentdaughter – long overdue and definitely joyous. We disagreed about the "best mother" and whether we were turning into our mothers. She reckons she chose the best mother to be born to; I reckon my mother was the best in the whole world and that she is the best living mother I know.

I bruise very easily now - just like my mum did.

By the way - I'm happy that I'm becoming my mother - I can't think of anyone else I would rather be like ...???

Oh I wish! My mother was beautiful, statuesque and calm. I am none of those things!

I wish ...

both daughters laugh that they often think they are turning into me- with affection. Funny.

I've always talked to everybody- our daughters used to find it embarrassing when they were teenagers- but they love it now- and always say 'only you can do that the way you do, mum'...

I talk to everyone these days. It used to embarrass me when my mum did it.blush

I never put new shoes on the table.

I never leave the washing up overnight...

I now have the same colour hair - white!

I have Fox's Glacier mints in my coat pocket.

I ooh and ahh when I brush my hair.

I wipe down library books to clean the germs off them grin
