Oh, Imperfect27! This reminds me so much of when my DH got stuck in the coal hole, trying to get into his mum and dad's house when he'd lost his key, aged 16. He had to wait there, just head and shoulders sticking out, calling for help until a grumpy neighbour walked by and hauled him up.

I once fell down a hole in the road! I was leaving my husband-to-be's flat, early one evening and being of a romantic disposition, I cast a long, loving gaze over my shoulder, up to the second-floor flat window, where he was NOT standing to wave me goodbye! Next thing I was up to my armpits in a roadwork hole. It was surrounded by cones and ticker-tape and some of flashing amber lights. I had managed to find a six inch gap between all the 'warning' paraphanaelia and fallen a few feet down. Thankfully, I had landed on a large pipe, but I was rather scraped and bruised and had mud all down one side of my face and body. The worst of it wss that I had to wait there until somenone came walking along the street as I could not get out by myself. The fotrst person t come into view was a youngish man. Imagine his surprise when I called out and asked him to assist. He was tryong SOOOO hard not to laugh as he helped me!

Years ago i was helping raise funds for our local special care baby unit. I was very pregnant at the time. Pride of place on our tombola stall was a beautiful large coffee gateaux donated by the local bakery. Leaning over to straiten the prizes I lost my balance...and yes, straight into the coffee gateaux. Real slapstick stuff but I was absolutely mortified.

I once sank less than gracefully down a rabbit hole (to my knees) while carrying a cool box at one of those oh-so-refeened classical music events at a stately home. Pitched forward over said cool box, much to the hilarity of the picnicking hordes. Dressed in my posh frock and heels too. And I'd hardly touched a drop.

Hi wot I'm glad you had a laugh. I probably would've if it hadn't been my own story ? Thank goodness he hadn't bought wine. I would've reeked of it and probably been breathalysed...if I'd survived! ?

At least he was more concerned about me than the shopping! You wouldn't credit how far that soup stretched and there was still half left in the carton! Flat shoes for a while... ?
