That's it.

There was a girl in my class who had severe eczema and her poor hands were cracked and bleeding. The domestic science teacher said she must not make pastry or touch food. How cruel was that? Bitch!

wot Mon 11-Apr-16 17:37:18

But can you imagine having hands like that as a child? I'm making myself fed up now.

wot Mon 11-Apr-16 17:36:07

Thanks, Jings.

My last post disappeared, so with risk of repeating myself. The risk of repeating myself, my dad, into his 80,s, used to say he was becoming reptilian!! I have

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 11-Apr-16 17:31:37

Stop being so down on yourself wot! Nothing wrong with your hands. hmm

wot Mon 11-Apr-16 17:22:39

Pickled walnuts they look like and I hate them.

wot Mon 11-Apr-16 17:12:44

My ghastly hands

wot Mon 11-Apr-16 17:00:04

My dear brother used to call me rhinorcerous.

wot Mon 11-Apr-16 16:44:44

I've probably come across as having and done everything other people have, but it's all true. I have had old hands ALL my life; in fact my sister called them "chickens feet" I've used all sorts of creams but nothing has changed them. At least I am growing into them now. I used to truly envy girls/women with soft smooth hands.

I'm feeling old I have to admit its my hip that's causing all this pain sad, it seems to be getting worse by they day while I wait for the slow turning wheels of the NHS to turn in my favour. I even had trouble changing gear in the car yesterday I can't contemplate not being able to drive. Its 10yrs since my first THR I am so ready for the other to be replaced. Then I'll feel 21 again grin

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 11-Apr-16 16:33:39

Odd innit? Doesn't hurt though.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 11-Apr-16 16:31:29

Mine is not that Galen. It bends in towards the other fingers, not towards palm.

Galen Mon 11-Apr-16 15:39:31

Probably dupeytrons contracture

shysal Mon 11-Apr-16 15:27:50

I can sympathise Juggernaut. In my experience backs take about 3-4 days, hope that applies to you, and that it will ease soon.

Ooh! trifle, NanKate, yes please! With an unlimited supply of virtual dainty sandwiches, fancy cakes and pastries.cupcake

Juggernaut Mon 11-Apr-16 14:43:00

I lifted the washing basket awkwardly and have twisted my upper back. This means that I can't breathe in deeply unless lying flat on my back. It's only been like this since yesterday afternoon, but it's getting right on my nerves!
At least it's making me forget about my foot, ankle, knee, and hip pain!

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 11-Apr-16 14:41:28

Willow the index finger on my left hand does that curving in thing. I wave it in front of the grandsons to horrify them. grin

NanKate Mon 11-Apr-16 14:28:13

Yes [Shysal] we are definitely Vintage.

Well done for managing 10,000 steps today. I forced myself to go to Keep Fit and felt better for it.

I am on antibiotics at present which are making me feel a bit grotty this afternoon, the dentist warned me this could happen. So I have every excuse to watch the tennis from Monte Carlo this afternoon.

Shall we have one of those trifles mentioned on another thread ? You choose the cakes. [cupcakes]

shysal Mon 11-Apr-16 13:34:59

NanKate, I shall be 70 in June. A virtual party would be great, then I could have the celebration afternoon tea loaded with carbs that I wished for. I clicked some of the 'blue' posters on this and the ageing threads. There are lots of us 69 year olds, 1946 must have been a bumper year for post war babies.
I have added another ache/pain to my list by wrenching my back when mowing the lawn left-handed to avoid using the torn shoulder! sad Still managed my 10,000 steps today though.

wot Mon 11-Apr-16 12:59:16

That's so funny, Willow! At least you haven't lost your sense of humour! grin

Willow500 Mon 11-Apr-16 12:38:27

The skin on my arms hangs down in folds If I bend over, the skin on my legs ripples at the top and the skin on my neck is slowly sliding down chasing my descending bosums! I'm sure I'm going to get out of bed one morning and find myself in a puddle of flesh on the carpet grin I had hoped my hands might escape the decline but no - they have now decided to match the thin, wrinkled skin everywhere else and to add insult to injury begun to curl my little finger into some sort of misshapen grotesque horror show. Of course (at the moment) inside my head I'm still the goddess I'm convinced I was when I was 18 smile

harrigran Mon 11-Apr-16 11:35:34

whitewave I think I have another seven sessions to go, it certainly continues until September. I am not miserable or depressed, will never let it get me down smile

bartonlady Mon 11-Apr-16 07:28:05

Oh my hips hurt too! Especially after sitting down. Seems to have come on over the winter! Hopefully sunny days ahead! Don't want to keep taking pain killers any suggestions??

NanKate Mon 11-Apr-16 06:49:53

Shysal we should have a virtual 70th party where all aches and pains are banished and we get up to high old jinxes grin. I am in September when is yours ?

Well I am glad I made you grin Jing because whenever I see your name come up on GN I know you are going to either make me laugh or have a sharp inward breath. You are the opposite to bland and I like it. smile

Here's to growing old disgracefully wine

rubylady Mon 11-Apr-16 02:57:50

I know I am getting old when I am sitting for over an hour looking for embroidered towels and getting a little excited about it! confused

rubylady Mon 11-Apr-16 01:54:20

Well I've just had to move the blanket covering my seat due to an accident. I never had that when I was around my toy boys! (thank goodness)

It just tends to creep up on you and I'm only in my 50's, although I don't think age has anything to do with it, it's the state of your health that counts. I'm sure some kiddies who suffer from long term illnesses sometimes feel old. And healthy older people still feel young.

Been looking at mobility scooters, one for keeping in the car and one for using locally, I might as well enjoy what I can while I can instead of being a domestic prisoner. It's been nearly 4 years now since I actually enjoyed being outside.

flowers for Harrigan and Annsixty and everyone who is feeling rough. flowers
