Retiring to Lancashire

We have decided to relocate to Lancashire after many years of living in Devon. It's our second marriage and we have three children between us. I have a son living in Surrey a DD living in NYC and my husbands DD about 50 miles away. They are all married and have given us 5 lovely GC.
Anyway I have always liked the idea of moving back "up North" and as my husband is a Yorkshire man with a 90 year old Mother and several sisters ( I also have 4 ) we thought it would make life easier all round to relocate.
So the house went on the market and is being sold to the first people to view. We have had an offer accepted on a house and all is going through. So my question is why do I feel so scared? The Children are OK with it mine especially as we will be closer to my ex which will make life easier for them. My sisters are delighted as are the in laws so why do I feel a sense of doom?
We have chosen a house in the town I was brought up in which is close to Church shops a pub and a short drive to a leisure centre. Also close to a Masonic hall important for DH. All makes sense so why do I feel this uncertainty?
Sorry to ramble on.

Rubylady, I accept that Lancashire people have many good qualities but, at the end of the day, you can have as many comedians, sportsmen etc as you like, Yorkshire has God. You can't get more impressive than a deity grin

Hope everything went well with your move, Babs.

Well here we are been here for 3 days and already it feels like home! Early days but the signs are that we have made the right decision. The removal men were brilliant and we are making progress opening box after box. The house is in fairly good order and we have just finished cutting the grass which was 2 feet high.

We will see how it goes but all good so far. ?

Hello from a long term lurker! I'm interested in the get together a as I am Lancashire born and bred and nothing seems to happen oop north. I am in the north of the county so Manchester is a bit of a trek. I do hope the poster is settling in here as we really are friendly and the weather has been sunny recently!

Where do I find out about the meet ups please? I don't know my way round the site very well.

Forgot to say that I am half Lancashire/half Yorkshire and have actually been entertaining my Yorkshire relatives today, just gone! I am fed up of meeting just at funerals so I vowed I would organise a get together of the three different factions of relatives from Yorkshire, one lot from the North, one lot from the West and one lot from the South, all Yorkshire! Although my mum knew all of them and we kept in touch with them all, they don't really know each other and haven't met for 50 years or so, till today! I have vastly over catered, am exhausted now but happy.

How are you Babs. Can you make it to our meet up in Bolton?

Well we have been here for 9 days and all is well. We have had visits from family and have been to visit my dear friend who is very Ill. Also DH is 65 next week so we are planning a gathering next Sat afternoon. So far we haven't had time to do much exploring but we had a lovely walk in the nearby park which is beautiful!
The only problem is I find I miss my children even more now! Maybe it's seeing my sisters with their families around them I don't know but I expect I'll get used to it ?
