Charleygirl Mon 09-May-16 17:03:21

NandG the photos are great and it certainly looks as though everybody is enjoying the holiday. The two boys (The youngest ones)! are having a great time. You are dort6unate with the weather it would appear. It looks as though the heavens will open here soon but it is still muggy. It is so dark and only 5pm.

soop so pleased to hear that you are home and had a lovely short break. What are we going to do about the falls? 2 sticks are difficult because you then need a 3rd hand for your handbag and other goodies. I agree with Galen one crutch may steady you and stop you tumbling.

I doubt if Rory will leave your side now that you are home and great that Bracken also noticed. I am amazed she has not got her paws under the kitchen table yet. I do not care what MacSporran says, that is her rightful place.

Lona do you need help with packing yet?

soop Mon 09-May-16 17:03:14

number Torben insisted on wearing my glasses...I tried to dissuade him from running around like a whirling dervish as he did so. Naturally, he only half listened to my advice. On the whole, Torben is very sensible.
I hope that Mia recovers very soon. If she's enjoying her nightly treats...that's a good sign.
Rory and Bracken are in cat-on-earth-heaven. Bracken has been leaping around the garden. She suddenly got it into her head to shoot up the tree. Watching her as she came down again, was awesome. I wish that I had her agility and flexibility.

numberplease Mon 09-May-16 16:50:51

Lovely to see you back Soop, but so sorry to her about your latest mishap, you really do need to take more care of yourself missus.
Lovely pics as usual, Torben grows more like you with every new photo, but how long has he been wearing glasses, or was he wearing someone elses?
Mia has also been off her food for a couple of weeks, it usually happens in hot weather, but this started before the weather perked up. She`s eating a bit more now, not a lot, as Paul Daniels would have said, but a little is better than nowt. I`d be worrying more if it wasn`t for the fact that she`s still devouring her nightly treats without a problem! Glad Rory and Bracken survived your absence OK.

soop Mon 09-May-16 15:38:00

I have read all your messages.

Cornergran Your birthday treat sounds perfect. I'm with you...no need for "stuff" it's time shared with loved ones that is totally wonderful. flowers

Alea I was convinced that I would return to discover that the baby had joined the clan. Please let it be soon. Us lot are getting a tad impatient.
Sorry to hear that Grace is off colour from time to time. My pal's dog is behaving in the same way as Grace. Perhaps the hot weather has upset her appetite. Chicken is nutritious. If she enjoys it, it's well worth the extra pennies.

Charleyg Tara doesn't like the newness of the suite. When she has become familiar with it, she'll no doubt spend many a long day hogging the best seat in the house. Not yet though.
Rory was on the bed when we returned home. He had eaten but, when he saw us, his appetite went into overdrive. He was in and out through the door that many times it was a pleasure to see him really happy again. I've lost many an hours sleep worriting about him.

dustya The smartish jeans were ideal. I packed the right clothing for the wall to wall sunshine.

NanaandGrampy The photographs are lovely. Continue to enjoy your well deserved holiday.

Lona any further news on the house sale?

Galen Mon 09-May-16 15:02:33

Elbow crutches are better. Or a wheeled zimmer

jollyg Mon 09-May-16 14:39:13

Lovely pix Soop, and how they do look like you!

You were blessed with sunshine and the family.

I realise how long you have looked forw ard to this reunion, BUT you must take care.

Would 2 sticks help your balance. You get very good ones on NHS. They are very sturdy.

soop Mon 09-May-16 14:10:26

I promise to return sometime very soon. By which time I will have updated myself regarding your news.

soop Mon 09-May-16 14:05:27

Hello to all our lovely Kitcheners...I've missed you and I have so much catch-up to do I thought that I would read all your messages after I've completed a few jobs that need attention.
The weekend went very well. I did have another nasty tumble just as we were approaching the entrance to Glasgow Airport. I turned awkwardly and fell backwards hitting my head and elbow both badly bruised on the pavement. Helped into the mobility assistance section and had an ice pack for the egg on my head. Very kind staff. I did cry. I was both shocked and fearful that we would not be able to travel.
The remainder of our weekend was a great success. We'd arranged to meet in the lovely local inn. As the family arrived, I did a double take. Our eldest grandson, Will, together with his partner (whom we've never met) came into the bar. The cherry on the top of the cake.
The sunshine allowed us to spend almost all out time together, out of doors.
I've a few photos to share with you.
Rory was delighted when we returned home. Bracken was waiting outside. It was good to see them together again.

Good morning all!!

Belated birthday wishes Cornergran sounds like you had a lovely day .

I totally understand Grace's food choices. Sam however, is the 'trencherman' of dogs and would eat a soft cushion if it smelt of food !! He is currently being spoilt in his vacation abode and I have the picture to prove it!

Alea darn babies ....always keeping everyone waiting !! smile

I was treated to a lovely Mothers Day afternoon tea with the tiniest sandwiches at one of the Disney Resorts. Grampy when asked if he enjoyed it by the Manager was heard to respond ' the sandwiches were lovely but could have been a bit bigger' smile .

Have attached a couple of pictures including one of 'my boys' .

Hope you all are enjoying your lovely weather, I know we are !

Charleygirl Mon 09-May-16 12:10:38

Another glorious day- I could get used to this weather but there will be a return to normal by next weekend. As long as snow stays away I will not be too bothered. I have the knack of drying clothes between showers.

On Saturday I thought that I would have to cancel my present Waitrose card and order a new one. I was in the queue, card and money in hand, my card did a backward flip and vanished. I looked everywhere - no joy. Reported it to Help desk and I was barely in my front door 15 minutes later when a phone call informed me that it had been handed in. I do not know if it would be of any use to anybody else except maybe get them a free cup of coffee. One honest person, saved a load of hassle, I have to pick it up today.

soop hopefully the weather was fine for you and you did not spill too much wine and alcohol down your jeans. Rory and Bracken will be happy. It will be interesting to see Bracken's reaction to your re- appearance.

Alea Mon 09-May-16 12:03:50

"Unreliable digestion" is one way of putting it, cornergran!
There are no nails left , and I am turning into one of those sad people who look at their phone every 10 seconds, just in case I have missed a call/text/email.

cornergran Mon 09-May-16 10:53:04

Thank you all for your good wishes yesterday. Had a lovely family day, couldn't have been better, don't need 'things', but so appreciate their company, best gift ever. There is still so much cake, have brought some chocolate sponge today. Thank goodness for virtual calories grin. It looks as if no internet access for a few days, maybe longer, so if I disappear that's why, nothing wrong. Alea do hope I return to news of your DD's new arrival, surely can't be much longer or there will be no nails left to bite. Soop hope you have had a wonderful weekend and the jeans are unscathed. We don't have a resident animal just now, can't have cats as DH is allergic but we have had dogs with shall we say unreliable digestion, one of the few things I dont miss about having a dog around. Have a good week everyone.

dustyangel Sun 08-May-16 20:43:48

You must be on tenterhooks waiting for this baby Alea , I keep thinking of your DD and wondering how she is coping in the heat. Although having said that, my first was born at the end of June in a very hot summer and I didn't suffer with the heat at all. hmm Much younger and fitter then obviously. grin

I hope soop has had a lovely time and that her "smartish" jeans haven't been too warm. I only bought jeans with me to DD1's house and gave in today and bought some cut offs in Matalan. Apparently it is cold and raining in Portugal, I timed my visit well.smile

Hope you have had a good day cornergran. flowers

Charleygirl Sun 08-May-16 20:37:04

Alea I agree, you can waste so much money when Grace is on a sniff test only day. Still if she enjoys the chicken dish you can look out for chicken being sold cheaply and freeze it.

Tara has come home, out since early am. She has gone to bed because I am sitting on the computer chair, the only chair which she finds comfortable. I am happy that she does not like the new suite.

I would not mind some rain overnight and then I would not have to think about watering tomorrow.

At least the mothers around here had the sense to keep their darlings indoors today because of the high temperature. I believe that the T is going steadily downhill from tomorrow. Hopefully in the north of the country people may enjoy some fine weather.

Crafting Sun 08-May-16 20:26:20

Ahem! Stomachs...blush

Crafting Sun 08-May-16 20:25:31

hmm it Should have read you remind me so much of me. My dogs all had delicate stomchs.... I have obviously had a little too much wine !

Crafting Sun 08-May-16 20:23:59

Oh Alea you remind me so much of me dogs. They all had "delicate" stomachs and all ended up being fed chicken and rice prepared for them by me. Still they were all loved and cared for so who cares if they wouldn't eat dog food ( fortunately mine were tiny dogs so not big appetites).

Thanks for all the goodies cornergran. Many happy returns to you.

Been a lovely day here and quite hot. smile

Alea Sun 08-May-16 20:09:45

Grace is going through a weird eating routine , one day she will eat half her body weight in anything and everything, the next she goes all "I want to be a size zero model" and turns her nose up at even the tastiest little morsels. Yesterday she didn't eat all day (and had a restless night on Friday) just lying there looking pathetic and panting. Oh and eating grass and sicking it up when she did.
She regularly "goes off" whatever tinned food I have just bought her, so now I boil up a kilo of chicken wings at a time in the pressure cooker, slip the meat off the bones, divide it between 4 /5 plastic tubs, use the stock to cook some white or brown rice till it has absorbed most of the stock then divide that between the pots and put it in the fridge. She will usually eat 2 of those in a day, sometimes 3, so not cheap, but better than throwing tinned food out! I think it might be a senility thing, but as long as she is happy and thriving.
Still no baby.

Charleygirl Sun 08-May-16 17:36:49

Alea I hope that you, DH and Grace are relaxing after the to-ing and fro-ing of recent days. Hopefully life will be back to normal at home with Grace able to have her snoozes undisturbed and food provided at the usual times.

Tara spent time with me in the garden when I sat outside to read a newspaper around 8.30am. She loves sitting in the chair next to mine but after an hour or so the call of wild coaxed her away. It has been a glorious day here around 26C - I cannot see this weather being repeated anytime soon.

Alea Sun 08-May-16 11:53:10

Happy Birthday cornergran from me too! ??
I wish I could say you share it with my DGC but STILL WAITING for DD2' s baby to make an appearance. I hope she is at least sitting in her garden with her feet up, but it is so frustrating for her.
Anyway, hope you, and everybody else, , have a lovely day. I will just get back to biting my nails.

Charleygirl Sun 08-May-16 11:39:19

Happy birthday cornergran beautiful weather here, hopefully in your neck of the woods also. Please do not overdo the alcohol! 30 is a lovely age is it not?!!!

Lona Sun 08-May-16 09:17:56

Happy birthday cornergran ????? a few goodies for you!

cornergran Sun 08-May-16 09:03:34

It's my birthday so far too much cake about! Have left some sponge, muffins and donuts to share. cupcake. Family day today, looking forward to it. Hope the sun is shining on you all sunshine

Charleygirl Sat 07-May-16 21:45:23

The children love the water, especially the youngest. They are so fortunate as swimming is so healthy for them and in the present circumstances, cheap!

You are missing lovely weather here. Although there was a haze here part of the day it has been very warm and tomorrow may be 26C- can you beat that?

I hope that soop is recovering and relaxing.
