Bellasnana My heart skipped a beat when I read your post. Please may the result from the scan be favourable. You have had to endure more than your fair share of family misfortune. I'm sending good vibes from Kintyre.

Alea Basil is certainly VERY handsome. My late mother's cat was called Basil. He was a very spooky Siamese cat with an aversion to strangers; anyone other than my mother.

annsixty I can feel your pain. Both of my hips were arthritic. Both have been replaced. The relief from pain is immediate. Although of course post op the knee will be tender and swollen. All that soon passes and, in time, you will feel rejuvenated.

Hello number, it's always good to hear from you. You will know Inveraray. Today, the weather was perfect. The George wasn't over busy. I really enjoyed myself.

MacSporran has taken an early morning pic of our half-finished, newly painted hoos. When we returned from seeing bags, he took another. We shall be back with paint and brushes after tomorrow's trip to the care home.

I've had a somewhat tedious day sitting in government departments waiting interminably long to do fairly simple procedures. Never mind, it's like being in labour - never-ending whilst it is happening but forgotten as soon as it's over

Up at 5.45 to make DH his second jug of Moviprep - some people pay a lot of money for a detox like his. Put it this way, I treated him to a bumper pack of Andrex Aloe Vera loo paper- thought he deserved a bit of luxury.
Thank goodness for the car taking us to the Royal Free, he will be very empty and a difficult journey would have been even harder without solid food for 24 hours and up half the night going to the loo.

Those of us who have chugged down four litres of Moviprep can certainly commiserate with your poor DH. Even with luxury loo roll it is an ordeal I would not wish on anyone. Hope all goes well today. Thinking of you both.

Please provide cake and a pat on the head as I am grumpy this morning. I'm annoyed that I cannot contact the Cardiology dept. to save them wasting an appointment on me ( I have no heart ) as I will be away and apparently they have no way to be contacted . You have to wait for them to contact you . What utter rubbish !!! Grrrrrr

Charleygirl yes M & S was more pricey but as a treat it wasn't too bad. I was quite proud of him when stood in the queue with Grampy and chose fruit as his snack over cake or a cookie. Sam gratefully accepts your offer of friendship ! He asks 'Will there be treats?' All the men in my life think with their stomachs!!!

annsixty I understand your frustration !! So now another lengthy wait whilst you're in pain? And good luck for today -I hope you get a better response than for your knee.

soop your grandson obviously has it down pat and I have to say that sounds very like our 9 yr old granddaughter who is not referred to as The Queen of the Universe for nothing.! The little ones are a more straight forward ! Our smallest grandson demanded 'tickles' yesterday and we obliged only for him to cry. Mummy translated and it turns out he meant 'skittles' - oh dear !!

Our decorators finished yesterday so now a couple of days of limbo before the carpets are fitted and the furniture arrives so off to the shops on a search for a lamp we can both agree on ( as if I was actually giving Grampy a say .

I'm putting it off until next year, but it does have such an impact on the quality of your life, when you can't walk very far.

I have gone up market re clothes buying! I bought 2 pairs of trousers and two pairs of slippers at Asda on line. Each item cost £6 and the trousers were suspiciously similar to what I buy on line from M&S at twice the price. One pair of slippers also look exactly the same as M&S supply- the other pair were fine but next time I would buy a size larger. It shows the amount of profit that goes into selling clothes.

NandG Sam may get some treats but not many. Tara never gets any because of the prescription food that she is on and she does not appear to notice or mind.

Alea it is at times like these when you appreciate what your family have done re paying for the car journey. Bad enough travelling in a car starving hungry and possibly needing to go to the loo but another matter on the middle of a platform or a train.

annsixty are you aware that you will not be able to look after your husband when you return home from a total knee replacement? If you want I can PM you with more info.

I am on the list to have my left knee replaced in September- the right was done in 2012.

annsixty, your troubles haven't come singly, have they? I hope you get some relief from your visit to the eye hospital today. I had my hip and shoulder replacements at your local hospital and I know they have an excellent orthopaedics department and the physios gave me a good run for my money after the shoulder op. Let's hope you get an appointment sooner rather than later and they decide to expedite the procedure. Waiting is the worst of it. Good luck.

NanaandGrampy on all the paperwork OH has received from 3 different hospitals (yes 3 even though we live in the back of beyond) there has been a number to ring if you no longer want the appt or need to change it. Then a text the day before to remind you. On the other hand my GP said she would arrange for me to see the consultant about my hip and I have heard nothing at all - 3 months, I wonder if she has forgotten or if this is normal.

soop you have been working hard so yesterday was a well deserved break. and you had nice weather.

It is so cold here I am considering switching on the heating before I end up with a severe dose of hypothermia.

So frustrated with my visit to the eye hospital today. After lots of drops, lots of scans the consultant is unsure if laser treatment would make enough difference and I would probably still need monthly injections as well. He is going to liase with my current consultant as to whether or not no2 will take over my whole care in Manchester or we retain the status quo.

annsixty do you feel like a ping pong ball? So frustrating.

Well I have just finished a lovely job (not). A tool maker made some screws for us a few years ago and last month said that they had found some spares during stock take and would we like them? Well they came this morning (from Canada). They were packed in egg trays, one per compartment - 600 in total. As some were rusty they had to be separated out. Think this was a job creation scheme for a junior at their end - I don't want any more jobs.

They are now soaking in WD40 (sometimes think OH prefers the smell of this to my perfume) and then I suppose I will have to bag them up to go in the stock cupboard.

Another trip to the dentist for me today as the pain has been getting worse since Monday's root canal. My dentist is abroad (how very dare he ) but I had a very sweet lady dentist who was very efficient, drilled into my poor tooth again and cleaned it out with disinfectant. I did ask if she would just extract it, but she wouldn't. Also gave me antibiotics and pain killers.
I'm feeling rather sorry for myself

Bellasnana I do not know why they are so reluctant to extract teeth, especially at our age and the obvious pain that you have been experiencing. Luckily you got it sorted before the weekend. I would miss the tooth re the whisky and put it down the hatch- you deserve it. Not a pleasant day for you.
