A phone call this pm- my furniture is ready for delivery, could it come tomorrow? Yes please. Could I please pay the driver the full amount owing- eh? The woman also said that I had accepted the 2 seater as well as the armchair. Rather than argue over the phone I decided to visit in person.

Luckily the store is only 2 miles away so I found the receipt and hot footed it in the car. The first person I spoke with was the manager so he sorted out everything. I am now a fully paid up member of the 3 piece suite furniture society and the manager now knows I did not sell the 2 seater sofa on ebay and that it is languishing at the warehouse. The fellows should have signed that I did not take it in. Anyway all has been sorted. I do hope that the furniture now comes sometime between 7am and 5pm. After that I will be found in a darkened room- if anybody passing could feed Tara please?

Well, I had a bit of a melt down yesterday, I'm really not enjoying this house selling lark, and it's only been twelve days! I've had five viewings and three more tomorrow! Everyone likes it, but I think the agent has overpriced it. It needs updating too much.
I'm trying to remain calm, but as this has been hanging over me for about five years, like the sword of Damocles, I just want it over and done with so that I can move on literally!

Bellanonna Bugs are buggerations personified. Our pals have just called by (I was up a ladder, sloshing paint to my heart's content) and they stayed for tea. Our pal has been poorly since before Christmas. She has lost her voice. She's to have speech therapy. It all began with a common-place runny nose and a sore throat.

Oh, Lona the saga draws to an end. You've been patient beyond the call of duty. I'm surprised that the manager didn't give you a voucher to spend on cushions for your much-looked-forward-to suite. I would have. Phew! By the time it arrives and both you and Tara have wrestled over chosen the best seats in the house, it would be super if someone could take a photo of you. I guess that we shall have to imagine the look of satisfaction and total relief that will be etched upon your faces.

Lona I'm totally with you on this house viewing lark. I thought that I might have a full-blown wobbly had we continued to prepare for yet another viewing. As it happened, we decided against selling when the last viewer wanted us to drop the asking price by a considerable sum in order to extend the property (as it was too small) whilst a brand new enormous house was being built a quarter of a mile away. I flipped my lid. The agent said to sleep on the offer. I told him (politely) to take our home off the market. Somehow, we decided, we'd manage to stay put. I wish you a satisfactory outcome and please may it be soon.

The kitchen and half of the utility room have had a face-lift. the remaining half will be finished by tomorrow teat time. Having a paint kettle has made the job so much easier.

I need to have a serious wash and brush-up. The hair is as wild as it gets. Bye for now. I shall catch up with all our kitcheners in the morning.

So sorry, I meant the furniture saga bit to be addressed to Charleyg...all the ladder climbing has addled my grey matter.

Can I suggest bananas to everyone. They do something to virus cells. I am not going to brag as that would be tempting fate but neither of us have had any illness this winter and we eat a lot of bananas.

OH had two more moles removed yesterday, he says that if they keep on at this rate he will have no skin left, but other than feeling a bit sore he is fine.

I don't want to have new furniture again, because it took us three months to choose the fabric!

Popped into Tesco last night - just to use the loo - and picked up two bunches of flowers for 82p each. They are lovely, don't usually treat myself but the certainly are cheerful.

Need something cheerful as snow is forecast.

Yes tizliz I'm trying the banana thing. When I lost my appetite it as the only thing I could eat. Snow? Crikey that's a bit harsh, but I've just seen where you live. Hope it doesn't happen.

Ann, let`s just say that I would have enjoyed it more if I`d been in better company! I`d love to go again, but not with old misery guts. The scenery was out of this world, unbelievably lovely, but Norway is extremely expensive. We ate very well though, the food on the ship was very good, and the staff/crew were great, international, not many English voices, but most of them spoke very good English. I never wanted to go on a cruise, but wouldn`t mind another, wouldn`t want to go on a massive ship though, ours only took 800 passengers.
I see the photos DID work first time, but when I first clicked there was just the text, no pics, strange.

Well mostly good then which is what we wanted to hear. You must leave "himself " at home next time!!

Must have been a 48 hr bug because I feel much better today - I hope you are all feeling well also.

Alea I feel your pain!! I'm a slow knitter and any unpicking etc. is heart-breaking for me. I'm sure the finished article will be worth the effort though. I did have a flutter on the National but to no avail. I believe it was a safer race this year with no horses injured. I learnt to bet from my grandfather who would make me calculate the odds for him from the age of 5 and then he would send me to the bookies at the end of the road where I had to work out the tax before placing his bet. Wouldn't happen today but I was a well known visitor and often came away with a couple of pennies for a treat.

* soop* Bracken is quite lovely. We are not really cat people ( no throwing stones at me ladies ) I blame it on having had dogs all our lives except for one period where he had a ragdoll called Toby. The most delightful cat/dog in the world.

I'm glad your lovely lunch was a success and that MacS has been soundly chastised and will now get much better.

* Charleygirl* you will be pleased to know the swimming went...well swimmingly. However Grampy lost his precious cargo in the café at Tesco's!! Its quite small and L shaped , and in the foot of the L is a little section with toys and a tent.

So Jackson went round to stake his claim and Grampy followed about 30 secs later with their snacks only to see no Jackson. He ran to the foyer where security assured him no unaccompanied 4 year old had left. So he rushed back and only then called his name.

Of course the tent door popped open and there was the little one. When he recalled it to me I couldn't even scold him because as he said. " when I thought I had lost him I wanted to cry". So Jackson had a high old time as he didn't know he was lost but Grampy had to have a lie down in a darkened room when he got home .

NanaandGrampy I just knew that he should not have been let out alone with the little chap. At least both returned safe and sound- with luck he will be more aware next time, if there is a next time.

numberplease those photos are beautiful. I have not been to any of the Scandanavian countries but I am well aware that they are very expensive- even for simple things like a cup of coffee. I am not sure what you do with him indoors next time.

Lona are you showing people around your house or is the agent doing it? He/she should be doing it- he will be paid enough. There is nothing worse hearing people making disparaging remarks about your house- I think that it is so rude to do it.

soop as I have said many times before, I would love to be living closer- you would have two cats having a high old time indoors when you return if I had anything to do with it.

Oh Nana what a heart-stopping moment for poor Grampy.

I remember that feeling well even after 42 years, when something similar happened to me. DS, aged 3 and always a very energetic child, couldn't wait for me to get through the check out and dashed off into the busy foyer area. When I managed to hurry through the aisle to chase after him, he had disappeared and I felt sick. I feared he had been taken. The store were really good and put out a call over the loud speaker system and someone came running to tell me that a small boy was sitting on the slot machine toy motor bike near the other doors. Yes - it was himself and very proud he was too. Unlike his poor Mum who was feeling dreadful.

Hope Grampy is recovering quicker than I did!

Forgot to say this happened in the supermarket.

My new furniture has arrived. I suggested to the two fellows that it would be easier to drive the van a few yards to the side of the house and bring the furniture in via the French doors. They said that the 3 piece suite was in pieces so they would manage via the front door. What do I know? They struggled, pushed and pulled with the first item and then decided that the side entrance would be better.

I was so used to an empty room with one forlorn borrowed chair in it that the room now looks overcrowded. No doubt I will get used to it.

Two cushions came but they must have been a man's choice- the colour (grey) is too close to the colour of the sofa if that makes sense. At last I have something comfortable to sit on but I am not 100% certain about the 4 legged lodger- the arms will be fine but I am not so sure about the top of the chairs- time will tell.

Why do men always think they know better than us? It makes me so mad, I hate being patronised like that,but it brings out my best sarcasm! ?
I'm sure Tara will find the best spot for her lolling!
Regarding my house, I'm letting the estate agents do all the work and the viewing. Like you say, any negative comments would cut me to the quick! Fortunately, my son lives a four minute walk away, so I just pop round to his place for half an hour.

NannandGrampy My heart stopped for a moment when I read that your grandson had appeared to be missing. I cannot think of anything worse than the moment when a child vanishes (even for a few moments) I would be hysterical with fear. Please (hug) Grampy for me.

number annsixty is right. Us lot are very nosy. The photos are delightful. I can imagine that it was a marvellous experience for you. Shame that the company wasn't what you deserve. Next time, why not borrow Galen's Garry.

Tizliz and Bellanonna We eat bananas every day. I'm also well into blueberries. I read somewhere that Champagne is very good for warding off dementia. I could happily quaff a glass or two at the end of each day.

Charleyg I chortled when I read the latest update re the furniture saga. Did you order the grey cushions? Could you not return to see that nice manager and ask him to exchange them for something more to your liking? A feather duster is propped against a chair that I need to keep cat-claw free. Rory doesn't trust it. Rory leaves the chair alone.

Lona I would hate to be present during a viewing of our home. I'm far too sensitive.

I shall now return to painting the remainder of the utility room. By the close of this afternoon the kitchen and utility room will have had a face-lift. I need to strip off and put on my decorator's garb. MacS is washing down the outside paintwork in readiness for a coat of gloss paint.

I have done nothing today but I am totally exhausted. I have covered each piece with a throw but they are not really big enough - I could bring in the garden chairs and place them at the side and rear of the chair that I have been sitting in. I will see what madam's reaction is when she comes home this evening.

The 2 cushions were freebies- when I can get my head together I need new curtains and I will also get cushion covers to match the curtains. The pink curtains will do fine at present- sorry, I am technologically challenged, I cannot send you a photo to let you all see what the fuss has been about.

soop If the 4 legged lodger wakens me tomorrow at 6.30am like today, Bracken and Rory will have a paying guest- it would be well worth it for the peace. I love the photo of the deer.

Luckily when I went to the store yesterday the manager warned me that it may not be the store's name emblazoned on the side of the van. So right he was, it was a furniture removal firm who they employ if they are overrun with orders to be delivered. I wonder if some of my neighbours had their fingers crossed?!

Everything I am doing in this house at present is for the "last" time.

Lona that is handy if your son lives so close by and you can pop in. I have managed to keep my mouth zipped most of the time during this 3 month saga but selling your house is a different ball game. I think it is so rude if punters mention in front of you that they do not like the kitchen tiles or you have applied the wrong colour of paint etc. These things can be discussed out of your hearing so luckily it is the estate agent who gets the comments.

N&G, I know how your husband felt when he thought he`d lost Jackson. Many years ago, when we still had only 4 children, we were on a day trip to Blackpool, and went to the Pleasure Beach. I was pushing the pushchair containing the youngest child, and hubby and I had the 3 girls between us, and were engrossed watching the log flume ride. After a few minutes I said to hubby, "where`s Dawn?", he said "she`s with you", I said "no, you`ve got her", which promptly started a mad panicky search! After about 10 minutes we heard "Mum!", and there she was, in the company of a strange couple, and scoffing a massive ice cream cone, which they`d bought her to shut her up whilst they searched for us!
