My most recent one was on Monday with DGS2 who is 11 months. He had been poorly last week but while he was in his high chair he produced an enormous snot bubble out of one nostril. Very Yuk however it is forgivable at his age.

Not only bad hygiene but very bad manners! That would really irritate me!

I never thought about the touch screen. Might take my tablet's dibber next time!

jane10 our surgery has a touch screen check-in, but I don't use it as there is no anti-bacterial hand gel next to it.

I ask my DGCs to wash their hands when they arrive at my house. They are used to it now. My DDs aren't offended.

I'm reminded of when I was much younger and had been looking after my tiny niece that had been poorly with a very bad cold.

My hairdresser gave a huge sneeze and I automatically whipped out a large handkerchief and turned to wipe her nose.

Hysterics all round...with an extremely red face from me.

I always carry alcohol gel on a train journey. It's pointless to wash hands in the loo when you have to go through at least two doors on the way back to the seat. I use the gel when I leave the cubicle and again back in my seat. I know I've picked up some nasty viruses on trains.

I never touch anything at the surgery if I don't have to. Also I keep antibacterial wipes in the car for after pushing a supermarket trolley or basket. Neurotic? Maybe. I started doing this after grabbing a trolley and finding the handle coated in dried sick from someone's child! Yuk and double yuk. I know we're supposed to build up immunity by exposing ourselves to germs but that's a step too far. I also find that I don't seem to catch as many colds as DH.

If my hairdresser did that to me, I don't think I would go back and I've had the same hairdresser for about 15 years.

I don't really care about uncovered food because I'm sure my body will cope with most things. It does bug me though when someone doesn't wash their hands after going to the loo. What bugs me much more though is people who sniff. It's like chalk on a blackboard.

A while ago I took my FiL to the doctors and picked up an old copy of the Reader's Digest. I licked my finger and turned the page - then thought about all the germ ridden people who had been there before me. Two days later I got a cold.

I was in my local swimming pool when a man came out of the sauna looking very hot and sweaty and jumped straight into the pool ! I did tell him , rather loudly, he should shower before swimming.

I do wash my hands after using the toilet, I have tissues about my pers on for catching coughs and sneezes but I never give a second thought when I buy uncovered fruit/veg/bread etc. though I do not eat from communal bowls of unwrapped sweets/ bowls of nuts etc! I must have seen that article someone else mentioned!

We were in Morrisons the other week; the woman on the till had a dreadful cold and I looked at DH in dismay. She coughed and carried on, then had a worse sneeze and cough and then used a hand sanitiser. I hope it worked, however, I did get a rotten cold myself a couple of days later. It could have been from anywhere I suppose.

I hate it in asda where they have the unwrapped rolls on the shelf at childrens nose height. Also when people sneeze the germs fall and could descend to the rolls. I just never buy them, although I would if they were higher and wrapped. Lidl does the same with the instore bakeries.

When Im working as a therapist I never work if Ive got a cold and always use a hankie if I sneeze but I wash my hands, it may interrupt the therapy/massage but the client always understands.

I learnt a lot about hygiene when I was on chemo and even now a year later my white blood cells are still low and I get lots of colds.

I was once on a coach trip when a child sitting behind me was sick on the floor. My son and I felt it splash our legs under our seat
but we kept quiet and did'nt say anything to the mother.

I saw a program once where the sweets available to anyone at a hotel reception desk were tested and were found to be contaminated with faecal germs from people who had dipped into the bowl after visiting the loo and not washing their hands. Yuk, yuk, yuk.

I once saw a small child lick a doughnut on display in M&S and hugs mother just laughed and dragged him away but didn't tell anyone. Yuk!

A friend of mine saw someone sneeze all over the loose olives in Morrison's. I've not bought any from there since...

My bug bears are all of the above but also people who don't wash their hands after the toilet! Gross! I think ot's respectful to others to minimise contamination by my bottom or nose germs!
I am a retired nurse so infection control is a big thing for me.
Also when I was little my mum always told us never to eat a sweet from Granddad unless it was wrapped because he didn't wash his hands after the toilet. So we were brought up to wash our hands and I drummed it into my own kids.
However my adult married stepkids are not so concerned with hygeine and their kids always seem to have tummy bugs. We have tried to explain the contamination cycle of bacteria but they just think we're pernickety.

Ooh don't get me started on this! I can't believe the number of folks who go round sniffing and sneezing! Does no one teach them to, at least, sneeze into their elbow? Even our young GC can manage that.
And the number of women you see at public loos who just rinse the ends of their fingers under the tap-no soap-so spreading their dilute urine on everything they touch. I'm paranoid/very careful to not touch handles, seats or anything in public. My DS was a nurse and I learned from her-thank you DS.
Having said that I don't know if I would say anything-folks can be so a**y these days can't they even if/especially they know they're in the wrong.

Inishowen - if the behaviour of one of the staff in my local M and S is typical,I doubt whether she removed the bread. I witnessed a member of staff drop several chocolate brownies on the floor. She picked them up,blew on them and put them in the display basket!
