I am sorry it is so long, but hopefully you can just click on this or copy and paste into google.

Many of you will know that my DD was present at this dreadful accident and we are trying to achieve changes to the road so that it will not happen again. It is the turning to a day nursery so young mothers and children are being put at risk daily. The petition contains a photo of the accident so you can see how serious it was.

Many thanks.

150 now! Thanks for all the help.

275! - there is a huge amount of interest in this and some very sad posts from people who have lost loved ones on this road. The local paper is going to publish a letter about it, and draw attention to the petition in its article on the accident. And change.org has picked this petition out and wants to contact all their punters who live round here and flag this petition up to them.

I have been contacting councillors and relevant MPs all day. Fingers crossed that there is some good result from all this.

I've signed Lucky but it then brought up a load of other petitions some of which I've signed before so not sure if my signature on yours has been counted. Good luck.

Update. My signature has been counted. Just received a confirmation email from change.org

Wow! - it is over 1600 now. I am so glad we started this as the comments that have been added are a sad litany of loss and injury. Let us hope some changes will be made.

Now it's over 2,000! My DD and I never dreamt that it would get this far.

Luckygirl Tue 29-Mar-16 20:35:48

Well it's teetering near 2,500 now! And my DD will be in Midlands Today tomorrow; and local radio; and two of the local papers are taking it up.

durhamjen Fri 20-May-16 12:56:59

The petition was handed in to the council today.
Hope some good comes of it.
2600+ signatures.

Luckygirl Fri 20-May-16 14:10:25

Yes durhamjen - it was my DD who handed it in. The local paper was there and there is a huge amount of support for the changes. Thank you to everyone who helped by adding their names. Let us hope that there will be some improvements to save lives.

Well done Luckygirl and Luckygirl Daughter. I really hope that after all the effort put into this campaign there is a positive outcome.

durhamjen Fri 20-May-16 14:31:09

So it was your daughter who wrote the update on change.org which I received today.
Well done your daughter. Fingers crossed for the meeting with the council.

Highways England are going to be the hardest nut to crack - their decisions are based in the number of deaths and serious injuries, not the number of accidents or near misses. My DD has been trying to get across to them that prevention might be a good idea - but they too have tight budgets of course
