Bed dilema

I usually buy super king size sheets from TK-Maxx. They fit OK when the sheet has just been changed but do creep up at the top corners after a few days.

It's also easier to turn single mattresses.

We bought a Super Kingsize bed last year and it is like sleeping side by side on two "three-quarter" beds. I struggle to find sheets though, can only find them online. So any tips on where to buy super king size sheets will be welcome.

The mattress for this bed arrived all rolled up! But it's not a foam mattress, I think it might be part memory foam ... by the time it was bought, I had reached the 'whatever' stage ... and left it up to the husband. I was surprised to read on the label "Made in the UK". It's pretty comfy.

OH likes a firm mattress so we bought an orthopaedic one which was rock-hard and quickly consigned to the spare room to be replaced by two mattresses which zip together - a soft one for me and a firm one for OH. We use one super-kingsized fitted double sheet on the base and separate single duvets. That way you don't get a wind tunnel down the middle of the bed and can hang on to your own covers all night. Also, when the other person tosses and turns the vibrations don't travel to the other side of the bed. I tried a Tempur memory foam pillow for my bad neck but it was too hot. Horrible!

We've had memory foam for about 5 years and love it. So much so that we bought 3" toppers for every other bed in the house.
Guests love them.
Not too hot at all for us though I've heard that said before.

I have read memory foam can make you hot, do you experience this?

Also, with these zip together beds how do you get on with the bottom sheet/sheets. Do you have one large one as I can't see how you would put two smaller ones on.

We have giant bed and when it first arrived my amusing OH rang me from the work phone on his side of the bed (we had two separate phone lines because he used to get called out at night) to the home phone on my side, to say he was coming over (ETA 30 seconds)! What a wit!

Why not have a trial run for say, a week, using the 2 singles you already have? Push them together, side by side using the single duvets and perhaps a giant bed spread or throw over both. This works for us - close enough for a cuddle, but not disturbed if other one gets up or turns over.

We used to have a zipped together mattress bed and it meant we could have two separate levels of firmness but I didn't like the middle bit which felt lumpy. We have a memory foam now and you don't feel the other person moving about unless you get a wayward arm or leg in the night

Yes. We always sleep better if a duvet each!

You might need a duvet each.

We haven't got one but we have slept in one of those 6ft beds with two mattresses zipped together when we've been away.
They are wonderful, you can't tell if the OH is tossing and turning but you are still 'together'. The only thing is, it's a long way to reach and give him/her a nudge if they are snoring!
And you would still have your 2 singles for visitors.

If we had room without getting rid of some furniture I would get one.
