People who want to kiss you hello or goodbye when you don't know them that well. It just feels false. Even when you do know them, is it always appropriate? Kissing all and sundry at family gatherings just feels like everyone is going through the motions and putting on a show. Where did this fashion come from?

Granyknot I wasn't referring to your remark - I was having a poor attempt at a joke - meaning 20 years ago I hadn't heard of forgetfulness

sallyswin an Americano is a watered down espresso. The Italians call it an Americano because it's the way Americans want their coffee. (Actually the Italians really call it Aqua Sporca which means dirty water- shows what they think of it grin )

I wouldn't have believed that I would be carrying a phone that would let me take photographs and send them all over the world, instantly check the drug the doctor has just prescribed, and put in a last minute bid on an auction site. Occasionally I even make phone calls!

Maggie - so that's where pulled pork came from, I was wondering!

I happened to come across mindfulness in Buddhism around 1980. I certainly wasn't intending to imply that anyone was 'a bit of a thicko'. I'm amused and slightly cynical that it has suddenly become a buzz word and people are making money from it.

Sure there are loads of things that have been around centuries that I still don't understand! I remember the day my daughter told me what the washing instruction symbols meant, I still don't always get them right, plus I wasn't sure which was the go button on the microwave. As for my phone, I won't even go there, the phone is clearly a lot smarter than I am ...
