Footie grannies?

No Yeovil Town moved from the famous slopping pitch many years ago.Sadly now it is a giant Tesco.I have very fond memories of that slopping pitch and sure our opponents dreaded playing on it.

Was really saddened to hear that Johann Cruyff has died. Remember watching him play for Holland many times. Wonderful footballer.

Do Yeovil still have their sloping pitch? Remember loads of comment about it when they had a run in the Cup though cannot remember when it was.

I am an ardent Yeovil town fan for my sins and organise my life around their fixtures !Sad but true.

So today is the Spurs V Arsenal derby ... I support Spurs, DH supports Arsenal - tense household!!! This match could have huge implications for either side in the title race. Of course I want Spurs to win ... somehow feels a bit of a lose / lose situation though ... am drafting in DS1 who also supports Spurs for moral support!

That would be amazing. Alima I was a little girl of three when we won the world cup! No doubt I was put out to play in the garden or kept out of my father's way by my mother. Legend has it that 27 adults crammed into our lounge to watch the final match. I have seen it a couple of times -watched it with my boys when they were in their young teens and those iconic goals and the moment when Sir Bobby lifts the trophy are good for the heart!

I have read somewhere that it could now be possible for England to hold the World Cup again, maybe in 2030. This is possible because Blatter has gone, hopefully with the rest of his corrupt band and Infantino is now in charge of FIFA. Oh, please! Remember vividly the last one, World Cup Willy, Alan Ball all over the pitch, Nobby Stiles sans teeth! Only got to last another 14 years!

Well now, I am happy as my beloved team won today ... COYS!!!! I am beginning to think we might actually have a chance at the titile ... DH not so happy as he supports Arsenal ... ah the perils of a mixed marriage!

Spurs, Man U. and Liverpool all through to the final 16 tonight ... yay!!!! Shame about the Spurs V Fiorentina referee though.

Yes, yes, yes. Most of my friends say I should have been a man as I love football and hate shopping. My DH is glad I'm not, a man that is, and it is role reversal in our house as my DH can't stand football. Come on you Spurs - but if Spurs don't win the title hope it is Leicester.

Yes, a great season this time - so good that the dominance of the usual four has been disturbed. My DS2 is an ardent Man U fan so he is 'hurting' - such an unusual experience for him - so often the case for us Spurs fans!!!

We manage to love footie AND rugby in our household, though footie would win out for me, rugby for my DH.

We are off to MIL for a meal this evening - anxious clock watching for DH so that he can get back for the Arse** game - Sorry, I know it is petty of me, buy I do like to abbreviate .

Spurs supporters in this house too and hopefully yesterday was just a blip in an otherwise fantastic season. We are really enjoying the football this season as it's so open and not the 'usual four' dominating - it makes it more exciting.

DS2 has loved football since he was a toddler and we have spent many weekends through his youth watching him play and believe it or not despite getting very wet and very cold I do miss it. I was hoping that DGS would take up the mantle but he is a rugby boy.

Oh Alexandra - John White! I sobbed for hours when he was killed by lightning; he was a fabulous player and a great loss. And then we got Alan Gilzean .... and the G-Men partnership was born. Great days, unlike the sorry lot who got knocked out of the FA Cup today by Crystal Palace!

Great to see so many other grandmas supporting Spurs, my team since I was a teenager in the 60's and everybody else in the family supported Arsenal. Did go to some matches in the days of Jimmy Greaves and John White. Maybe I'll go again one of these days!

Been a Motherwell Season ticket holder since I was 12,went home and away every week for many,many years,now go to all home games and pick and choose away games,go with a few friends who have also been going for years,my grandson has decided this year that he wants to go to games too,have warned him it's not an easy ride lol .

I've been a Coventry City fan and remember the Jimmy Hill glory days well. We beat Spurs in the Cup Final in 1987!

Apparently I saw Jimmy Greaves score a wonder goal at the first match I went to when I was six - don't remember it though!

Looking forward to an FA cup weekend - I think the beeb has done well to work on revitalising interest in this - it used to be a huge event and take over the day in our household, no matter who was in the final.

Been a Glasgow Rangers season ticket holder since 1980. Used to go with the family but, as they have all moved away, I still go on my own as I know everyone around me. Sometimes the ex is there but it's not a problem.
Also enjoy watching the Premiership and all European games on TV. So you could say I'm s bit obsessed.

I remember getting up at 5 am to queue for hours to get two 5 shilling tickets to the Benfica match; we wuz robbed, Greavesie was not offside!

I am a Liverpool fan, have been from the 70's, and also a Brighton and Hove Albion supporter. Partner is a Derby fan so obviously some tension in our house about the Championship. Son and two grandsons are Man U and Brighton supporters and daughter sometimes supports Arsenal and granddaughter is Man City fan. The team supported is sometimes because of geography sometimes for no reason. It makes for lively conversations at the weekends.
Sorry I haven't used abbreviations for son, daughter etc but I hate using them
