Soop's kitchen extension

Soop, we were staying in a lovely cottage on a farm at Llanfair, near Harlech, but didn`t expect the sheep to actually come so close. She had a mooch around the garden whilst she was there. What upset me a bit was the farmer`s 14 year old daughter, who had 2 lovely little lambs as pets, following her everywhere, her mum said that they give her 2 to rear every year. I asked her if they went back with the other sheep when they grew too big, her reply was "Oh no, I sell them to the butcher to pay for my school trip abroad!" It would break my heart to do that after rearing them.

number Lovely photographs. Where did the sheep come from? I imagine that the sheep are used to people and therefore this one looks very much "at home". I love it.

They`re not brilliant, but can I contribute to the photo gallery please? My photos are the Paps of Jura, Tarbert harbour (Trying to rival Soop! lol!), and a surprise visitor at the window of our Welsh holiday cottage!

Your work is beautiful and quite different from a photograph. I always think something hand worked captures a little of the soul of the subject . I am looking forward to seeing it as I'm sure we'll be looking at it in quite a different way to your critical artists eye !

Time for me to go and dust as we are knee deep in decorating dust which has settled in every room even through closed doors !!

dusty I also had an unfortunate episode with a not-yet-empty bottle of red wine. It was some time ago...but the stain remains on the off-white linen sofa. I cannot turn the cushion over. I did my best to remove the worst of the stain, which was extensive. We now have a throw over the sofa in order to hide the offending splodge.

It is a lovely end of afternoon here in bonnie Kintyre. I've finished a pile of ironing. Also completed the watercolour portrait of Millie, which is to be boarded and mounted tomorrow. I'll post a photo for you lot to see. I'm not 100% pleased. I've captured a likeness. It's par for the course that I always think...could have done better.

Oh do think about a 'proper' camera dustyangel.

The difference in the clarity with a digital SLR and a camera phone is startling. My camera even has an idiot proof guide installed so I can do everything automatically if I want. The best thing is taking pictures of grandchildren on the move, no blurs, just super action shots.

But maybe don't leave it next to the wine

Hadn't seen that ruined church when I posted. Really beautiful.

I was going to post on Sunday evening after admiring all your lovely photos but then then DH knocked over a bottle of red wine and with all the subsequent mopping and blotting there wasn't time. There might have been if just after we settled back in our chairs he hadn't moved his laptop and caught the one rescued glass of red wine with the lead. Sigh.

Too many photographs to mention since then but I particularly liked Galen's rose and Tizliz's highland cow. And the alpacas and the...no I'll stop there. , suffice to say that it is really interesting to see other peoples snaps and have glimpses of where you all are as well.
I've even been wondering if I should get a new camera as I've become very lazy since I've had an iPad and tend to use that or DH's phone for photographs as it is so easy to post from them. I enjoyed using my pre digital SLR before it died. Far more of a performance and expense to process them though as you said.

I've had fun this morning. I was sitting in on DH's Mac book lesson and learnt how to take a photograph of anything on my iPad screen. It's so easy that I expect most users already know but it was a revelation to me. I was practising on bits of this thread. Your sweet peas were much admired soop.

Right wot I clicked on choose file under the message box, then photo library and it brings up all your photos. Just choose the one you want and click it. If it works I am posting a local landmark

wot best ask thatbags...I don't have a kindle thingy. I'm sorry if arthritis is preventing you from needlework. I've never tried to embroider.

I used to do cross stitch wot but my eyes can't handle the charts any more . My work was never neat enough for tapestries so I envy you.

I'm not sure how to load my pictures on my ipad as I do most of my posting from the laptop because i like a decent keyboard. Sorry x

You would think my paintings had been done by a kid! Does anyone on here like making tapestries? I've had to stop making them for a while because my fingers have become arthritic!

Pot smoking hippy!!!! Hahaha! Can someone tell me how to put photos on here from my kindle iPad or whatever it is? I am not technically minded. I have managed it on my profile but not on threads.

The boat photos are gorgeous soop.

I am never without my camera , my husband treated me to a digital SLR camera on my retirement and then I took an online course to help me take better pictures.

Im currently in the middle of an online course to use photoshop better , so if my pictures are rubbish I can rescue them in photoshop.

It's fun to look back and think what we 'might' have done but not be sorry that we didn't. I look back and wish I had gone to university at 18 instead of 30+ with 2 children. I would love to have been Queen's Counsel.

But I regret nothing - I'm the sum of my experiences and I like that ( and me !)

A sunny good Tuesday afternoon to all our Granspal Kitcheners

No care home visit this morning. It felt strange to do something totally different. Well, just a wee bit different. We walked around the harbour in Tarbert. I took lots of boats pics. MacSporran was as good as gold. I kept stopping, handing him my stick and gloves, asking him for the camera and clicked merrily away.

Thank you for the kind comments regarding my paintings. I wish with all my heart that I had studied at art school. Hey ho! As bags would say. Had I done so, I wouldn't have the family that I love with all my heart. Indeed, I may have become a pot-smoking hippie. Woohoo!

wot The cottage in the painting exists. It is Yew Tree cottage in Beddington in the Cotswolds. I have that painting hanging alongside the primulas in the sitting room.

Tizliz the highland cow is a winner. I like the background. Very atmospheric.

Nelliem The highland cow would have been very protective of her calf. Goodness me, digital photography has opened up a whole new world to us. When I think back to the cost of a film, processing charges and maybe then discovering two or three photos worth saving, well, we've come a long way. I still print and mount any favourite photos in an album. I'm fond of the albums. We have many. I hope that, "when we're gone", the family will continue to enjoy the contents.

I shall upload some images taken during the morning hike around the harbour.

Loving the highland cow pic tizliz

Tizliz I was with a group on Mull and we reached a cross roads in a village where a highland cow and calf were happily standing in the middle of the road and no one really wanted to shoo them away.
Many photo opportunities but that was before I went digital.

We had to gently move them on in the end as we had to get back to the ferry.

Tizliz it was her road!

Took this last spring, we had to wait for her to move off the road. I am sure that there is a nasty look under that fringe!
