Im so sorry to hear so many of you are feeling so poorly. Take good care of yourselves and all those busy chores you usually undertake can wait - taking care of yourselves is much more important !

Last year Himself and I went down with one thing after another from Jan 2nd through to April. We caught things off each other and then when that cleared we caught stuff off the little ones.

This year we have been much luckier ( fingers crossed !) So get well soon

Our trip to the Senior Movies yesterday was great! I have rarely seen so many older people in one place. The place was full !! Tea and biscuits all round and then the movie - The Martian. I quite liked it , it's not a rip roaring action movie by any means but good all the same if anyone is thinking of going. And for the princely sum of £6 for the 2 of us - quite a bargain.

Soop Don't go getting poorly again like you did last winter? (or the winter before) when you were in hospital.

Galen I have that for my arthritis as well. I can't take NSAIDs and other painkillers give me headaches - I am the despair of my doctor. I only take them if I have to but haven't had any side effects - what do they do to you?

Sorry that so many here feel ill, but if you can't manage your cake .......

Isn't that an antidepressant?

I'm prescribed it for my arthritis, but rarely take it as I don't like the side effects. However, it does help with this.

Ive found that amytrptylline helps.

I think with this particular bug a decent night's sleep is hard to achieve as the cough makes it hard to lie flat and one coughs most of the night. I coughed until I was sick on several nights. It is a very nasty bug.

soop please do not give the bug to MacSporran. You must look after yourself instead of others until you are 100% and that includes possibly no ironing next week! Have a dram early and another for bedtime- all purely medicinal- you need a decent night's sleep.

I do not "do ill" but I had that bug about 5 weeks ago and I spent quite a few days or part days in bed. I felt really bad so take care all who have it and don't expect to make a quick recovery because you won't. Patience is the answer and being kind to yourself.

Ah, soop, poor you. I've had it too but not as badly as you sound. Blooming cough seems to drag on for ages. I hope your not-too-wee dram helps a bit. Please look after yourself and stay at home till you feel much better. Everything else can wait. X

An afternoon in bed and a wee dram sounds like the perfect medicine, soop. Take care and hope you manage to shake off this bug soon.

Oh dear...I've been in bed for most of the afternoon. Terrible sore throat, rattling cough and a headache. Also feel sick. I rarely take to my bed. Galen, my voice sounds like a worn-out foghorn. Buggeration and a ! for good measure. Serves me right for bragging that I had escaped the bug.

Lona a sensible lifestyle choice. For goodness sake, do not over exert yourself. Cracked ribs need lots of tender loving care in order to mend properly.

I am going to log off. Jim-jam time and a rug across my lap. MacSporran recommends a weeeeee dram for later.

Tizliz in London there are on the whole customers queuing up so a lot of the time these rip off merchants just move on to their next job.

Lona what a good idea- I only hope that repairs do get done as and when necessary. Hopefully it is what you want and where you want. I could not afford to rent a studio flat (bedsit) in London.

I will definitely sleep well tonight and tomorrow in the car to treat myself to a pair of slippers and a cup of coffee, watching the world go by without a care in the world (I hope).

Still suffering from the dreaded bug here! The cold is better but I'm coughing ++++.
I've also lost my voice, this is unusual for me!
Hope it returns before Friday when I've a half day tribunal.

Hello everyone, you all seem to have been very busy with lots of stressful happenings! I hope you're all recovering.

Charleygirl it's so annoying when the tradesmen make these sweeping statements that worry you to death, and then someone sensible comes along and sorts it out easily! Bet you were really relieved.
Must admit I agree with annsixty about doing NOTHING in the house, so I'm selling mine and moving to a rental instead! Let someone else worry about repairs!
With that in mind, I've been washing paintwork and decluttering again.
Fortunately Unfortunately my cracked ribs have prevented me from over exerting myself although they have improved slightly in the last day or so!

We're making plans to visit our youngest grandson in Sussex. It won't be until early May but I'm already getting goose bumps at the thought of a reunion. Now...what to pack...

I am a very happy bunny now because Nick my usual plumber has visited. He thought that I was being taken for a ride financially because of my age, being female so obviously stupid.

Yes, I have a gas leak but it is minor and well within normal limits. Mine is 0.4 bars whereas the cut off point is above 4 bars. I do not need a new shower pump- one of the valves was sticking intermittently so he fixed that. The water T for the hot water tank is supposed to be 60 degrees but mine was at 50 degrees so that was sorted. The plumber asked for a tenner- a slight difference when one thinks of the cost of a new shower pump + digging up concrete in 3 rooms to identify and repair a gas leak+ replacing each room with new flooring.

Any takers for my psychiatric bed at the local? I will sleep well tonight.
