A bright and sunny good afternoon to all our Kitcheners...
Yesterday, in the care home, I saw our good friend from the village. She was in a deep sleep. Today at breakfast time we had a call to say that she died at 5:am with her close family around her.
She was a decent, kind and caring lady. The villagers will miss her spirited robustness. As we passed her beautiful garden this morning we stopped to admire the fruits of her labour.
Galen is your cough less troublesome? Like Bellanona I'm hacking away. In fact, much to my annoyance, MacSporran has made an appointment for me to see the doctor later this afternoon. I'm annoyed because it will be a waste of the doc's time. It (the cough) is taking it's course. It doesn't require antibiotics. I shall go to the surgery simply to ask whether my visit to see the colo-rectal surgeon (November 11th last year) was a complete waste of time. The consultant was very thorough and I was assured that another appointment, with a different consultant, would be made "within a month..." Our GP is very much on the ball. He has emailed and spoken on the phone with someone "in the know" about a month ago...however...whoever was "in the know" hasn't contacted me since.
Charleyg I'm a bit like a mad March hare. At the first sighting of spring, I go into clean it, polish it, paint it or chuck it mode. Today I've cleared out the cupboard in the utility room. Rory helped by insisting on climbing over me (on hands and knees) and plonking himself down for a session of yoga-style grooming. 
NanaandGrampy OOOOH! I would so enjoy a trip to the hairdresser. At one time, long ago, It was my weekly treat. Then we decided that we needed to be more frugal with our pennies.

Did any of our Kitcheners watch the closing episode of 'Happy Valley'? It was tremendously exciting and the acting deserves recognition when the TV awards are given out.

Pompa at least the scan and bloods are normal. That's a good start. Is hope you get the treatment you want so that you can be reassured. These health issues keep cropping up don't they. Would a piece of my fresh fruit cake cheer you up?

I hope those who have been feeling under the weather have woken up feeling a bit brighter this morning.
Lazy start for me , but then I am off to the hairdressers , I look like Ive been dragged through a hedge backwards !!
Then off to the cinema to see London has Fallen ( I need to be prepared ).
Then off to Costco to try and purchase a HUGE piece of beef for Easter Sunday lunch as all my little ( and large ) carnivores are coming to share a meal with us and then for the annual Nana's Easter Egg Hunt in the garden !! I have instructions form both DDs that if no beef is available - get a turkey! Yes SIRs!!
Tizliz our last qualified for life dog passed away some years ago. I was always lucky , maybe because we were in a breed that was not one of the big popular ones, I never felt judging was tainted . But I'm sure that's not always the case .
Pompa have you had a tussle in another forum? There are some outspoken GNers that's for sure

Were you at Crufts Tizliz ? Its been a few years now since I have had dogs to show – our Sam is lovely but more smart than Kennel Club Standard I used to really enjoy the day , exhausting though it was.
Congratulations on finding out your daughter is having a little boy Galen .Can’t beat a little hand knitted something .

Ah soop Grampy survived his baby sitting stint , although the little man ( nearly 2 wanted to see what was behind the TV and had to be discouraged and his brother was not in the mood to share which flummoxes Grampy as he’s not really sure what to say other than ‘tough’ ! . Its lovely to know that small children like your grandson are already aware that there is a need to help those less fortunate – what a kind soul.
The sunset pictures were gorgeous, such an array of colours and the crocus were a perfect hint of spring. I applaud you for taking off the side of your bath--- that is a step to far in cleaning for me, and spiders and dust bunnies are welcome to reside there !

I removed the side of the bath. It was extremely dusty and I was a teeny bit afraid that I might disturb a spider. There was no need to fear. In fact, we have had just one "teenager" spider make an appearance in our home since the end of last summer.
I have taken a photo of wild crocus to share with all our Kitcheners. I love the vibrant colour.
Away to wash the bathroom floor. It feels better knowing that the dust of ages winter that lurked behind the bath panel has been removed.

Galen I'm feeling chuffed for you. How lovely to have a new grandson join the clan. I swear I can see the mighty big spreading across your face.
By the way...my last message to you contained a grammatical error. It came to me (in the night) that I had said the cough makes me "wretch"...I should have said...retch. Isn't it crazy that such niggly things (spelling errors) can awake one from a deep sleep. 
The cough continues to hack away. I do however feel very much brighter. I hope that you do too.
Charleyg Tara, like Rory, can manage with the utmost ease to make us feel "neglectful". If, for heaven's sake, Rory has to sit by the closed door for longer than it takes to twitch his tail...he goes into a full-blown strop. He believes that we should read his thoughts...
kitty May I have a generous slab slice of your mouth-wateringly delicious cake. Please. I've been visiting the ladies in the care home. A carer offered me a cup of tea and a scone. One of the ladies poured my tea into her half empty cup, and then helped herself to half of my scone. Having taken a big bite out of it...she offered me the rest. There were crumbs all over the place.
Our neighbour (now resident in the care home) was wearing a woollen scarf, a lined jacket and a hat. He appeared to be over-warm. He barely spoke a word but, as I said farewell to him, he held my hand and thanked me for visiting. I was then taken to see another pal of ours who has lived in our village almost her entire life. Just after her 80th birthday, close to Christmas, she had a stroke. She recovered sufficiently to be transferred to the care home. About a fortnight ago, she had a further stroke. I didn't recognise her as she lay in a deep sleep on her bed. The care home manager told me that she is "slipping away". She is not in pain. She appears to be serene. The spark that was always evident whenever she was in company, has gone...
NanaandGrampy Whenever we were with our youngest grandson and his Mummy and daddy were at work, we had to be super-human to keep tabs on him. On one occasion he tried to climb up the chimney. On another, we couldn't understand why he had gone "quiet" and discovered him underneath the kitchen table, eating cat biscuits.
Now he's older and able to hold meaningful conversations. He bent down to show me a dried split in the hard-baked mud...he said..."a long-ago earthquake made this happen. Don't disturb it". He's a very caring wee boy. He often speaks of the "peoples who need help" (refugees) and wishes he could make "happy things happen to them".
Come here for a bit of sanity. Computer will not send emails and I can't work out what is wrong. There are some solutions on the internet but way above my pay grade!
And I have been getting annoyed on another thread about eBay. Don't think I will look on there anymore.
pompa sorry you are not well. Pain is bad enough without knowing the cause. Hope they sort it out soon.
Kittylester really would like some cake but not very keen on nuts. Someone left some caramel chocolate cookies in the hall last night where we have the dog club. Not sure if they left them for us but I had two pieces 
, so perhaps I better not have any cake today.
It was nice to catch up with how everyone did at Crufts. Our dogs are qualified but we don't show anymore. Too much hassle going down the A9. Someone had a rough coated German Pointer puppy, little darling but going to be big.
Not so nice here, no sun today but not too cold.
