As a child I use to think...

That all cats were girls and all dogs boys

Talc and 'perfume' made bath cubes ( where did they go?)

My father was the fount of all knowledge, I was about 12 when I realised if he didn't know the answer he would make it up!

That Fry's Turkish delight was full of "yeast and promise"

that lightning can go round corners ... even under the bed!

Luckygirl I used to think that too about lifts. What amuses me is how late I came to realise some of these things weren't true. somehow if you're told or believe them when you're a child, you'll never question it until you're really given cause too.

That if I swallowed chewing gum it would wrap around all my internal organs and kill me.

That if I swallowed an apple pip I'd have an apple tree growing inside me, which would eventually start growing out of my ears.

Yes, I used to do the rose petals in water thing, like PRINTMISS. The results were always a sludgy, stinking mess, but I kept trying

Thought I would be able to fly and was terrified of the bogeyman!! ( please tell me there isn't one )!!

- if a lift cable broke, I could save myself by jumping up and down so that it might hit the bottom while I was in the air!

- that if an earwig crawled into your ear it would be impossible to get it out and it would burrow into my brain.

That I could fly. I really believed it and used to dream it constantly.
It was somehow tied up with Peter Pan.

Soaking rose petals in water would produce that magnificent perfume my really rich aunt used to wear.

If I swallowed a fruit pip I'd get appendicitis. I'm still wary even now.

And yes, the ankles being grabbed from under the bed ! I never sat on the edge for that reason. One mighty bounce into the bed.

...if I put sat on the edge of the bed and put my feet on the floor, the bogeyman would grab my ankles

...I could grow my hair really long like Rapunzel (never reached the middle of my back. I always got bored!)

...mixing shampoos and bubble baths together would make magic potions

I could never be a teacher when I grew up because I didn't know everything
