Saw this one on mums net and hope it has not been done before, if so apologies. Where would you be married if it had to be where you met your partner. It made me smile as I met DH will working with his sister as saturday girl in Woolworths - gives walking down the asile a different feel. Yes it was a long while ago, over 50 years now.

We met in a folk dance club in Stockwell (which no longer exists), but he'd seen me the night before at Cecil Sharp House in London, and I know that's still going. And it will be 41 years ago this February!

In his family grocery shop. I was seventeen, he was eighteen, and I was the new shop assistant. They don't own the shop anymore, but the premises are still there, in Carlisle

1. On a Ribble bus in Preston - he had a summer job as a conductor, I was a schoolgirl of 17.
2. In the rather grand meeting room (former town hall) of an organisation which took on EU funded research projects.

By Lake Como. We later worked together in Brussels, and our first home was in Rome. Married 47 years.

In an A & E unit - he was my patient. I took off his clothes (he was unconscious) had a look round and thought that's very nice. He tells a story that he woke up and saw and angel looking at him- he still calls me his angel. Soppy one sorry. blush

I was taking the money for the Youth Club Dancing Night at the door of the Village Hall when he popped his head round the door to ask if this was where the Band was playing that night. He was their new drummer and it was Love at first sight for me, although it took around 3 months for him to cotton on. We could have had our Wedding Reception in the Village Hall but actually had our 'Show of Presents' there with an enormous buffet and dancing to his Band and a smaller reception in a Hotel after the Wedding.

In a pub on the Isle of Wight (now converted into flats) It was a friend's 21st birthday and I'd gone with someone else but he wanted to go on somewhere else and I wanted to stay so I told him to sod off go without me. DH arrived later with some mutual friends and I ended up giving him a lift home as his car wouldn't start!!

We have been married 48 yrs.

In the corridor outside the inorganic chemistry lab at Cardiff University. He returned my equipment locker key that he'd found hanging in the lock and saved me losing my glassware deposit. Someone would have raided my beakers, test tubes etc. to replace their breakages. I was grateful, he asked me out and the rest is history....or do I mean chemistry??? Hehe!

Marmight - please pm me - I pmed you late last night, but I don't think you have looked at your emails. I am putting off sticking a pin in the calendar until I hear from you.

In reception of the office I was temping in. He walked in with a bundle of architectural plans under his arm, our eyes met, metaphorical mutual 'phoar' and that was it .......

At a Warwickshire County Council BBQ which was held in doors because of the rain. hmm that was about 48 years ago.

In the factory where we worked , he was an engineer and I worked in the office. He kept fixing the photocopier and I kept breaking it. He eventually asked me out.

1. In a TV room on a RAF camp in the early 70s. We were the only two in that night watching Tommy Cooper. Married 25 years and divorced around 2000.

2. Online - match.com 11 years ago. My first and only foray into cyber dating while he was contemplating giving up as he had been on too many disappointing dates. I emailed him and he took a chance as I hadn't got round to posting a photo but we met at 12.00 for Sunday lunch and were still talking 5 hours later. The incredible thing was the amount of times our paths had crossed over the years without making contact. Finding my soul mate in our 50s was brilliant, hope we get to grow much older together.

Bradford College's language lab. Everyone could wear headphones and do simultaneous interpretations of us taking our vows in very poor fluent Russian!

In the Corporals Mess in Werl , Germany where we were both stationed. I only had eyes for his friend and don't remember seeing DH at all.

I was just visiting so when I was posted in 18 months later , he was still there and this time I noticed him smile and we were married 9 months later !

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 19-Jan-16 15:13:41

POGS I want to know that story.

For me it would be my hallway: we were set up by a mutual friend and so the first time we laid eyes on each other was when he came to pick me up. Not sure that it was love at first sight but we both knew very quickly that this could be it (lucky as between dates 1 and 2 I broke my leg in three places and so he had to put up with me in plaster and the same pair of tracksuit bottoms (the only ones that would fit over the cast) for the next two months)

In a Little Chef - it's been demolished so no chance of having a wedding there!

chloe1984 Tue 19-Jan-16 14:20:46

In the dance hall of the Merry Fiddlers public house in Dagenham. Has since been knocked down and I think a large supermarket has been built on the site. We could therefore be married in the middle of the fruit and veg aisle.

Willow500 Tue 19-Jan-16 14:01:43

ninathenana Tue 19-Jan-16 13:28:17

In a hotel foyer in Rimini. We didn't speak then just looked and smiled.
We first spoke on a coach trip from the hotel to Venice. When asked, I say we met in Venice.
