Just read the microwave swede method. Can't believe you put it in whole. Doesn't it explode. Please someone tell me. Don't want an explosion on my hands.

Does it work with celeriac? I like celeriac soup but it's wearisome to peel and chop.

Trim top and bottom and its fine. I have used this method hundreds of times now and never had a disaster.

It has never exploded for me. You trim the top and the base, so that it stands straight, so any undue pressure would have somewhere to go - not like being totally enclosed. It is not all liquid like a mug of coffee, either, so it doesn't boil up suddenly.

We have one night a week when we always have an easy meal, usually Friday as we have a busy day then.Pizza or ready meals. Sainsbury do a great roast chicken or roast beef ready meal ( but not Tesco!)

An exploding swede would solve any issues about champit neeps for Burns Nicht next Monday!

jingl I think you should start a CBA Sunday- aim all gransnetters should give up cooking and be taken to the pub for lunch. I think "forgetting" is a brilliant way of putting it. Let's all do more "forgetting" of the things we don't really want to do! Mind you things will probably grind to a halt if we do.

Apparently, it was an accident that they were called "sandwiches". the bloke who was given the title had the choice between "Sandwich" and "Portsmouth". We could be eating "Portsmouths" today...
