Hello again. What a coincidence. Blinko PMed me just yesterday to ask to join the map.
To see the map, go to www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zJKkD44vbQE0.kPedtumv25QY
I am not publicly posting the (different) link to join, as it does open it up to chancers, but if you pm me I will send it to you. Bear in mind that it does pinpoint where you are, which may be put together with what you post to make you identifiable.
Here is what to do to join in the map. Go to the link I give you. You may find that Google is being awkward and asking you for a Google password. If you don't have one, you can get one by opening a free gmail account (could be useful anyway), but sometimes it still won't let you in. I don't know why.
Just add a flag (select the teardrop thing from the box, and then click on your location.) Put it at or near where you live and change the title from Point X. There is a box for more detail too. You can add photos there if you want. You can change the teardrop to a different symbol by clicking the paintpot icon that appears beside your entry in the list on the left when you hover over it. If you put the marker in the wrong place, select it again then click a second time and slide it to where it should be.
To let you do this, I have to extend editing rights to anyone with the link, so there is a faint chance of the link getting into the hands of someone who will do some unwelcome editing. I am going to look into ways of minimising this - having to get it from me should help.
I'll repeat the notes:-
1) This is not an official Gransnet project, it is just a private bit of fun.
2) You could plant the (virtual) flag right on your house, if you don't mind everyone knowing where you live, or you could put it nearby, say in the centre of your town, or at a local landmark, or in the middle of your county.
3) You could label the flag with your username if you are very brave, or you could use an initial, or another pseudonym, or a pet's name.
4) You can move it, or remove it if you change your mind.
See you there!
