Parenting class vouchers

Totally with luckygirl on this.
There used to be a council children's day nursery in the town where I worked.
It also acted as a drop in centre for the isolated young mums who needed a "virtual mum down the road" for advice or support. Or to leave the young kids if mum needed to go to an appointment or such. Or just for a mum to have a cup of tea and a chat or a shoulder to cry on.
Because of the informality it provided that informal support that many of these often stressed young women felt most comfortable with.

Well, it's good PR, he is going to rejuvenate housing estates and give extra support to mental health services - which he cut back on in his first five years

For goodness sake DC - what can you be thinking about? LAs used to run such things, and family centres to support families having problems - and where are these centres and classes now?.....axed because of the cuts in finance to LAs. All the expertise and momentum of these excellent services down the pan; but now somehow the classes are to be resurrected. It make me furious! New staff will have to be trained and venues organised - and it was all there!

As to giving out vouchers....it is the families with the poorest skills who will have no motivation to use these vouchers; they will be used by those who do not really need them.
