What a shock, didn't even know he was ill.

NfkDumpling Mon 11-Jan-16 07:55:27

Wow, really! And he'd only just released a new album! That is such a shame! So unexpected!

(I didn't like a lot of his stuff - but always found him rather, well - gorgeous!)

Very sad, but he always gave me the creeps.

He was really different, very theatrical. Did anyone go to that V and A exhibition a couple of years ago? It was amazing.

I too am shocked to hear of the death of David Bowie. He kept his illness very quiet although he looked ill in his most recent public appearances and his latest video is just plain creepy.

RIP Starman sunshine

Hope he's rocking "Under Pressure " with Freddie Mercury!

I was not a great fan, but very sad news. His ex-wife, Angie, is in Celebrity Big Brother at the moment, I wonder whether she will be told.

Have just seen this on FB when I turned my phone on shockshock
He had looked ill recently as gillybob says but then he'd always been very lean and unhealthy looking in my opinion.
RIP

Such very sad news and so unexpected. I wasn't a particular fan of his, but who didn't love Space Oddity? Wonderful song!
And the stars look very different today...

Very unexpected.

Suzied yes I went to the exhibition at the V&A - it was fantastic, particularly the last huge room with the videos and soundtrack playing all around the walls and everyone treating it as though at a concert!

What a showman! David Bowie will always remind me of the Ship and Castle on Whale Island. Rest easy Starman.

Two threads on this, a shock to wake up to this news. One of this country's great talents. RIP Gene Genius sad so many of his songs floating around in my head at the moment

Interesting that The Archbishop of Canterbury, David Cameron and Jeremy Corbyn were amongst others paying tribute to him on the Today Programme.

Very sad.

Liz46 Mon 11-Jan-16 09:41:33

David Bowie and Freddie Mercury were great together.

It is good that he managed to complete his new album and to read the excellent reviews before he died.

glassortwo Mon 11-Jan-16 09:51:40

What a shock. The songs are playing in my head.
Taking the Dgc to school it came on the radio and I was singing (if you can call my voice as singing) some of his songs.

RIP Bowey sad

What a talented, innovative musician, and man. I greatly admired him.

All those great songs are running through my head this morning.

Put On Your Red Shoes And Dance The Blues what a legend !!!!! RIP David Bowie

shysal, apparently they told Angie the news off camera but she is staying in. She has not spoken to her son or his father for many years and is just flaunting the name.
