We know about loss in our family and I can well imagine that Theo's birth would trigger emotions like grief. You never 'get over' the loss of a child you just, eventually, learn to live with it. But this new little person in your life will really, really help. X

Thank you Anya, - I just keep welling up! What a strange mix of happy and sad! I wasn't expecting to visit yesterday - a real bonus! I was incredibly anxious before he arrived as I had had a very difficult labour with my first and my daughter did have a hard time - I really needed to see her and give her that first hug.
My mum (sadly no longer here) just made it plain through her actions that even though her grandchildren were precious to her, I came first and over the years, especially when my children were sometimes trying, or I doubted myself, I knew she was completely onside for me. I hope that is something I can pass on - continuing to celebrate the person my daughter is as well as the mother she has become.
Oh, and did I say ...? Theo is gorgeous!

imperfect, welcome - and congratulations on the birth of your little grandson! I, too, understand why you were tearful yesterday, as each time a grandchild (now also a great-granchild!) has been born to my daughters, I weep for the loss of my baby son 48 years ago. That will stay with me, and it's mine to keep.
How wonderful to move forward with the joy of wee Theo's arrival, though. Your heart will be bursting with love for him!

There have been introduction threads but they keeoing sinking down te list of active threads and trying to find them takes time.

Couldent HQ do something to keep introductions on top of 'active'?

Welcome and congratulations imperfect its an emotional time. I have a friend who lost a daughter aged 12 a very long time ago and she often has a tear and we all cry with her too. Enjoy this little one I'm sure he is very precious to you.

There would need to be a heading in the boxes above with the headings in
Active I'm on etc.

That would mean altering the graphics of those boxes and there is not much room to add a new one. However I am sure the clever bods at GNHQ could find a way around this.

Welcome Imperfect27. Good to have your company. Congratulations and how lovely to have met your grandson already. The mixed emotions are understandable but there will be such wonderful times ahead.

Congratulations Imperfect27 and welcome to GN. I have been very lucky in that I have no personal experience of such loss, not even miscarriage, but I can so understand how little Theo's arrival would have triggered other, overwhelming, emotions.
But a new little baby to love! Oh lucky you, such wonderful times ahead

Hello and welcome imperfect. Congratulations on your new grandchild.

Thank you all for your lovely welcomes. I have belonged to a bereavement forum in the past and found it a great help and was a regular postee. It is nine years since I lost my beautiful daughter Evelyn and life is manageable and full of good things, but welcoming little Theo has made me feel the gap once more, despite all the joy.

I read the thread on 'Never Too Late to Grieve' with much empathy, even though losing a baby is very different.

But on to happier things and yes, much to look forward to and in time we will tell Theo all about his wonderful auntie.

Good to be here and I look forward to future exchanges and sharing the wisdom that clearly abounds here.
