Do you write thanks to everyone who sent you a card?

Are you in America, Olivia4444? I'm surmising this, because of your spelling of certain words.. so perhaps where you live there are Boxing Day deliveries? It doesn't happen in the UK. Either way, I think she may just be commenting that your card has taken a wee while to arrive, but she now has it. I wouldn't take any offence at that, at all.

Perhaps it was her way of saying why she hadn't thanked you sooner - because the card had only just arrived. You sent a card, she got it. I don't see why either of you should take offence. I wouldn't give it a second's thought.

I was taught decades ago that Birthday Cards and Christmas Cards
should arrive on or before the day. Old school I guess.

My mistake to mail the card late so that it arrived after Christmas.

After a year of criticism, for example ( she sent a birthday card to my husband and he did not email her right away to thank her, so she sent a nasty email about not being thanked for the card)

Yesterday she thanked us for the card. My question, was it necessary for her to add:
" It arrived today" ( which was Dec 26 ). Sort of ruins the holiday mood.
Reminding us that the card was late.

Was what necessary?

Why would you take offence? You sent a card and it arrived - end of! Life is too short to worry about such a trivial thing. Hope you had a lovely Christmas.

We mailed our cousin the Christmas card on Sunday, Dec 20th.

Yes, there are deliveries here on Saturday the 26th. I received mail
on Sat the 26th.

Our cousin is very critical, so I do take offense.

Her email on Sat the 26th was, "Thank you for your Christmas card."
"It arrived today."

Was it necessary for her to add, "It arrived today."

It is my husbands' cousin and he is not happy with that comment.
Why should she add that comment?

There aren't deliveries on Boxing Day. I reckon it arrived on the 24 th and she missed it!!!

I would just take her comment at face value, wouldn't get offended

It only arrived after Christmas because there are no longer Christmas Day deliveries as there were when we were children! So that means that if there had been it would have been bang on time but since there aren't it wasn't and in any case if you hadn't posted it she wouldn't have had one and would probably have felt neglected so it is a good job you sent one so that she could write and tell you that the Christmas Day deliveries have now stopped so that next time when you have remembered that you have forgotten you won't worry about sending one since she wouldn't get it on the right day - perhaps.

I don't see the problem.
