Have you had your 15 minutes of fame?

my wife,pam,and I are about to get our 15 minutes of fame this april 2016.we've been recently filmed by bbc4 talking about our memories of the 1950,s and first hearing Lonnie donegan for a new series called 'the people's history of pop'.they were quite impressed by our knowledge and also when we played a few skiffle songs with pam on her washboard and myself on my 50's style guitar.
we're in a skiffle band called 'the 6-5 specials skiffle band' and we play around the west midlands trying to raise money for local charities.we can also be seen on youtube which was where the bbc4 researcher first saw us.

I was an extra in the recent film Macbeth when it was on location at Bamburgh Castle but you could only see me in the distance! My OH and I were on Flog It recently when it was filmed at the Bowes Museum. My antique was an album of vintage musical hall postcards. It was quite nerve-wracking but the expert, Paul Laidlaw, was really lovely and put us at our easte.

Age 8, December 1956, I was interviewed for BBC 6 o'clock News at an Exhibition at Olympia, London, having just bumped down a long enclosed helter-skelter which was supposed to be like going to the moon - the question asked of me:- "would you like to go to the moon", and I apparently replied "ooooh no". My aunt was watching the News, and - although I had a "space helmet" on which was obscuring my face, she knew it was me because of my silver kukri brooch on my camel coat lapel !!

This year I was part of a choir which sang at the BBC Proms in the park at Glasgow Green, that was great fun. I was also very lucky to be chosen to be part of the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games last year. I still remember the chair I had to carry. They organisers also gave me the honour to announce one of the countries. It was an experience which I'll never forget and made many friends of all ages.

Oh! I was on Songs of Praise once (but that was more DS than me!)
We do have one or two relatives in the limelight but not me, I am Rose the Obscure.

I was on 15-1 this year and won my show. I was lucky enough to get through to the Grand Final but I was the first one off! I had been on the show before when it was with William G Stewart.

A few minor times which only goes to show how rubbish some interviewers are! First time 40 years ago when I worked for a pig breeding family who were deeply into Transcental Meditation and Anglia TV did a news article on a few of us management meditating in the office - strap line: down on the farm even the pigs are meditating. Trite.

second time on Esther Rantzen about mothers in law. My darling MIL and I went on because I said I hoped I would be a perfect MIL as I had the perfect role model (hope my DDIL finds it so but I'm sure not!). Especially as I had divorced her son 11 years earlier and still remained close. She -ER - wasn't interested as all she wanted was negative reports on MILs especially about potty training! It was a 5pm show and what was interesting was that virtually the only people who saw it were 3 male friends and I wondered what they were doing watching ER at that time!

another time a friend and I in our late 50s were accosted by an interviewer for Channel 4 on elderly women gaining weight - interest dropped off when I said I hoped that at my age I was mature enough for it not to be anything but a health issue. Didn't say anything about my weight at that time!

No, but five seconds on tv 1990 at the Free Nelson Mandela Concert . My other moment of fame was stepping on the foot of Mel Gibson as he climbed out his canal barge , but no tv camera there

crossstitchgill. - Congratulations on your 15-1 win. It's unsurprising that you fared a lot better than I did when I can't even remember the presenter's name, William G, not Robert as I thought. Just before it started an elderly dresser came out and very carefully went over his jacket with a clothes brush which I thought touching. It looked as if they'd been together for many years. There were some interesting people in the 15 including a young magician.

Same here Nana3, absolutely zilch, though I frequently perform brilliantly on University Challenge from the comfort of my sofa.

Very interesting to read Greenock Grans post. I have the reverse problem. From the age of 16, I appeared in countless shows (West End, touring Theatre), and had small parts in TV, film and radio. I sang with bands, and had my own cabaret show that I toured the country with.
I have now retired from 'Showbiz' , but run three very successful choirs, putting on big concerts to raise money for charities.
I find it strange going from the glitz and glam, being asked for my autograph at stage doors etc to being known as "the choir lady" , and nobody knowing me as a performer.
Tell your son to make the most of it, Greenock Gran. It's not very exciting when you are NOT recognised! I have attached a pic of myself with Jon Pertwee when we worked together shortly before his death, and this Christmas, with my wonderful choirs raising £3000,

I've been interviewed a lot on local & national radio & TV here & abroad. A World in Action programme was made in 1996 as a result of our experience & research in relation to our daughter's death.
The best interview was last year because of the quality of the interviewer - Jim Naughtie on Radio 4 Today & I won't spoil it by doing any more. I am not sure that being interviewed in itself makes you famous as most people forget what they've heard within 5 mins of it being broadcast (or so I was told by media trainers).

Around 5 yrs ago my DH and I were on 'To Buy or Not To Buy'. We didn't buy any of the houses we were shown, mainly because we couldn't sell our house at the time. It was great fun spending two days filming with the BBC crew though.

Someone I know went on May the Best House Win (or wotever it's called )
I know for a fact that she knocked 9 years off her age

I only found out because I was with a friend of hers who was delivering a 60th birthday card to her about a week after it aired

Been on BBC and ITV because of my WW2 website because I was an evacuee from the London Blitz, plus had my poems read out on Channel 4.
I was on TV in summer when showing me talking to the children from around this area taking part in a mock evacuation at the Great Central Station in Loughborough and telling them about being machine gunned on the evacuee train.

I'm often in local press because of various community activities, some drama based some not. DH and I also featured prominently in press/radio in a long running environmental campaign several years ago, with DH appearing on several news broadcasts. Have also made docudrama with Kirsty Wark's production company

I was on page three of the Sun in the sixties , it was a broadsheet then and page three girls always wore clothes .I had on jeans and a polo neck
