Your! Not you're tchconfused

I'm glad you're dog has become used to it oldie. The thing is that with some dogs, for a variety of reasons (old, thin, short-haired, small etc), we have to put a coat on them in cold weather. After all, they're not living in the wild, becoming inured to extreme temperatures - instead we pamper them with centrally heated houses and warm cosy beds. Of course they're going to feel the cold much more when we take them out. Thankfully my DD's dog is a big, well-covered black lab and can tolerate the cold fairly well.

My dog tolerates a coat very well, Indinana, but she does walk a little stiff legged for a minute or two. I think we have a lot to learn about a dog's behaviour in the wild.

I read an article some time ago about that, oldie. In the wild the alpha male will control misbehaviour by standing over the culprit, straddling it and covering it completely to subdue it. The dog will go very still, completely stiffen, to avoid any further punishment. The article went on to say that this is why dogs tend to go rigid and refuse to move if you dress them - it's the feel of something on their backs which triggers a sense of being controlled and afraid to move. My DD's dog always reacts this way - her legs go completely rigid and she seems to lose completely the ability to walk normally. We used to laugh until we realised why she exhibits this behaviour, and then it seemed so sad that DD doesn't ever try to put a coat on her now.

Ahh! I tend to record all ITV programmes just to fast forward through the adverts, will stop it if one grabs my attention.
In the paper today saying that dogs may get stressed by wearing clothing, something perhaps we don't realise. Have never "dressed" my dog, except for a coat in cold weather. Tried reindeer antlers on Christmas and she just shook them off.

Thanks for that, minimo. The only programme I watch live is the News. I record everything else and fast forward through the adverts. Looks like I'm missing some good ones along with the dross tchwink
