We can say what we aim to get done, and then come and say if we have actually done it. tchsmile

Today for me, marzipan on cake, and wrap most of my pressies.

I loved the idea of this thread and really thought it would help me get a job done per day.

But although I'm not worried about anything, I really haven't done much. Cleaning the house will have to wait till after Christmas now. Tonight it's the decorating that must get done. Tomorrow a bit of shopping in town for some last presents (haven't got anything for DiL's at all). Thursday morning final dash for fresh food. Then the shops shut until Monday.

Last night was the final choir rehearsal for Thursday night's Midnight Mass. Then I came home and ate something and went straight to bed!

It's just so warm and sunny and nature seems to have skipped winter completely. It's just not the right atmosphere!

Reading through other people's plans and how far they're getting with the preparations has been lovely, and it's been encouraging to see that I'm not alone, and that it's Christmas everywhere. tchsmile

Today's Xmas task is me-off to get nails done and nice pedicure! Heading to dd1 later with travel cot and high chair for impending visit from ds and family-should be fun. My car is in garage and they've given me a baby Fiat 500 as courtesy car. V cute, but not sure cot will fit! Poor DH bit off colour with rumbles in tum so he's taking it easy.

Even the saintly Mary Berry buys puff pastry (although she is not so saintly that she doesn't enjoy watching other people struggle to make it on GBB!).

Clean upstairs, ice cakes, do last-minute shopping. Do a bit more washing, hope that DH will iron it tchsmile

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 22-Dec-15 10:32:32

I've got frozen puff pastry in just for that very purpose Alima. And I'm NOT letting on to anyone! Used to make my own. Too much of a faff these days.

Alima Tue 22-Dec-15 10:25:12

Just off to buy the stuff needed to make sausage rolls. Whether I get round to making them or not is a different matter....

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 22-Dec-15 10:07:18

Sounds lovely mcem.

cornergran Tue 22-Dec-15 10:06:18

Jingl DH will iron yesterday's wash too. Do we have a saintly emoticon? Yes. I do appreciate him. tchsmile.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 22-Dec-15 10:06:09

I guessed that's what yours would be anno. tchsmile Have a lovely time with them all. (You won't need a winter coat. It's mild down here tchwink)

While Ds works 12-4pm I'll sit in his flat awaiting delivery and installation of his new cooker. I've asked if there are any jobs I can do but he insists nothing needs done although he plans lots of cooking in the next 2 days.
So I'll take the shawl knitted by Dd1 and stich on the final border section.
Sounds quite peaceful, doesn't it?
Hope that men arrive early so that I can collect flowers and still meet friend for tea and present exchange.

annodomini Tue 22-Dec-15 09:44:18

PS Merry Christmas one and all x x x

annodomini Tue 22-Dec-15 09:43:52

Plan for today: get taxi to station; get on train; get on two more trains; hope DS is waiting for me when I arrive.

whitewave Tue 22-Dec-15 09:39:25

Lunch for ancient Mother today.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 22-Dec-15 09:12:23

I am now going to tell my DH that yours ironed the bedding cornergran. (that'll tell him!)

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 22-Dec-15 09:10:24

I've got to that stage where I don't know which job I should do next. Was lying in bed early this morning wishing I'd written out a list the night before.
Keep asking myself why I did all that reading last week. What was I thinking of?! tchhmm

I need to get out today. In all day yesterday doing washing, and wrapping. And eating most of the little biscuits out of the Marks and Sparks musical Xmas tree. Sigh!

cornergran Tue 22-Dec-15 08:56:51

Lists and more lists then final food shop, including for a picnic Christmas Eve - don't ask, seemed a good idea at the time Some cleaning if the energy is there. First I need to get out of bed. tchblush

Maggiemaybe Tue 22-Dec-15 08:46:30

Cleaning stuff, cutting out holly berries to ice cake with, making sauces, going out to lunch and quiz night tonight, sending last minute cards in reply to unexpected ones received, highlighting things to record in Radio Times like big kid, getting out of bed off Gransnet a**e in gear on with it, panicking ever so slightly.....

cornergran Mon 21-Dec-15 19:05:28

Cake iced, gift purchased with fingers crossed. Shopping list done for tomorrow. Laundry done. DH ironed yesterday's washer load of bedding. Onwards!

rosequartz Mon 21-Dec-15 10:38:57

I use the royal icing sugar because I don't like using raw eggs.

Right, today's tasks:
change bed, do washing, clean the house.
Get over slight hangover.

Get on with it instead of going on GN.

Teetime Mon 21-Dec-15 09:35:36

I hope you have a great trip galen so sensible.

Today I shall make mince pies and some neighbours coming round for a drink at tea time- the same octogenarians who got us tipsy yesterday but not as tipsy as them!!!

whitewave Mon 21-Dec-15 09:12:36

Make soup, leek sauce, and vegetable bake for tomorrow's lunch with mum and sister.
Possibly make sausage rolls and freeze raw for cooking as and when

Pittcity Mon 21-Dec-15 09:01:26

Nana3 , food shopping is being delivered on Wednesday so that I have Thursday to get anything that is missing. I wouldn't inflict a big supermarket shop on myself ever again as home delivery is so painless!
Today's Christmas task is visiting relatives and delivering presents.

shysal Mon 21-Dec-15 08:55:10

My plans to take GCs shopping for presents for their Mum are on hold as my gas boiler has sprung a leak and I have a time slot for repair of 8am till 6pm! I have had to turn off the mains water so it will be a long day. I fear they will say I need a new boiler, what bad timing!

Stansgran Mon 21-Dec-15 08:46:18

Add a little more glycerine in the mix, assuming it's a mix. Or is it ready roll?

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 21-Dec-15 08:39:31

Oops! Just noticed that I said on original post that I would be doing the wrapping, and I'm still procrastinating. tchblush

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 21-Dec-15 08:37:03

I have got to face the wrapping.

Don't want to ice the cake too soon as have got a packet of Tate and Lyle Ryal Icing sugar (cheating) and I don't want it to go rock solid too soon.
