I then gave one sidel of the argument which happened to be my own opinion
(lines 3 - 7)
I then opened it for discussion (one 8) with a closing opinion couched in the form of a question.
A fairly run of the mill format for initiating a proposal and counter proposal in a debate.

Everyone can start to write all sorts of things they think someone has said on this forum, without a shread of evidence. Which is what Maggiemaybe has just done.

Being tired and forgetful is one thing. Making things up about what they think anyone has said, completely out of the blue, with nothing whatsoever to back it up, is quite another.

Or repeated hints of what someone has said, again with no evidence whatsoever.
People are ok with that? Report it. It then becomes recorded.

For some unknown reason, one thing that has stuck firmly in my brain is one of soon's very first posts, when she said how much she enjoyed winding people up. And no, I have no intention of searching for it!

Gransnet members agreed with the anti Trump dismissal by Boris Johnson, the Met etc. Nobody is saying otherwise, but ooh no, you had to go and ask how many people had intimate knowledge of all of the London boroughs or else you wouldn't take any notice. You dismissed anything anybody said whether or not they lived or worked there and decided that because it was quite possible that radicalisation was taking place behind closed doors QED great swathes of London were indeed no go areas.

Well, actually I don't apologise at all and I take exception to the thread police suggesting I or anybody else " should confine myself to my own opinions and not those of others" - patronising or what? Raising a subject following on from what somebody has said, isn't that how discussions can start?
I asked a question about a topic which might have led to fruitful discussion if it had not reverted to the usual topic.
