What's up with me

Putting tree up today after 12. The house, back on the market! And is spotless ( a rare occurrence!) as there are viewings until 12.

Then the rest of the day will be devoted to (mess) decorations.

DS impressed me yesterday, DIL was out, and he did the basic decoration with military precision. (tchshock) Not his usual way of working.

He did leave the tree for DGCs and DIL to do together.

Not bought cards or presents not got tree, whole family here for Christmas Day so got to get started at some point.
Must visit Mum in care home today as she's stopped eating. DH cooking Sunday lunch today for 5 bless him.
There's time for Christmas stuff yet though, hopefully.
If it would stop bl---y raining it would help. Feel very bad for folks who are flooded out of house and home not far from here.
The same homeless man is sitting by the car park in all weathers every time I go into the city, makes me feel guilty, unable to really help and definitely not Christmassy.

I`m another who spent all yesterday getting the living room dusted, polished, hoovered, display cabinet and it`s contents sparkling, because hubby said we`d put the tree and the card strings up today. Did we? 3 guesses! He spent all day upstairs on his PS4, now he`s watching Match of the Day, then he`ll be off to bed. He says we`ll do it tomorrow, watch this space!

I'm relieved to see that several others are as unenthusiastic about Christmas as I'm feeling this year. I put my feelings down to the fact that I've done Christmas for what seems like a hundred years and I'm just bored with it. All that food and those preparations - I'm hoping that it'll all fall into place on its own!

I feel like i can't be bothered with Christmas every year, but DH does love it. However, even he is on a downer at the moment because his brother is so ill that there is a question mark over whether he will even see Christmas. We so hope that he will. GS is here today so that has cheered us up. We have put our tree up, the house is a post decoration tip but we've all settled down to watch a Star Wars film. Everything else can wait until tommorrow. I hope you find something to lift your spirits annsixty.

I'm struggling a wee bit too. MIL has been in & out of hospital for weeks, last weekend it looked as though she wouldn't survive the night, however she has surprised us all and is still with us. Hospital is a 45 minute drive from us at least 4 times a week.

DH is writing a dissertation so is under pressure. My DD is due to have her 3rd child next week so I'm trying to help her out as much as I can.

My own mother, who doesn't live in this country, has taken to ringing me at all times of the day to talk about nothing in particular and to be honest I'm so tired I cba with the whole christmas thing at the moment.

I wouldn't say that out loud to any of of the family though.

No further on here although it is only a few hours since I posted. I just hate this feeling and that is making me worse than ever. I do hope all us misery guts aren't spoiling it for anyone. We may get the Rotary Father Christmas round tomorrow with Santa in his sleigh collecting for local charities and that is usually a mood lifter but it has poured all day today and it may be cancelled.

well tree didnt work for me

pop-up tree ready decorated came out last weekend,along with big tree and loads of decorations..no interest all bar the pop up tree went back in the loft..the few christmas cards I intend to send have been written and a couple posted because I found some 2nd class stamps from last year 3 left to post ...all very low key this year what we have for christmas is what falls in the trolley on the wednesday before have a massive dose of CBA this year.....not buying presents cant afford them just for the two youngest big E and little A and big E is having money,I dont like christmas food and I dont want to cook...but apart from that am quite happy with christmas activities outside the home like WI lunch and community centre knees up on monday ....maybe because I dont do anything other than turn up and be happy[tchtree]

I'll get the pop up tree from the loft next weekend and a few other bits and bobs to put around the living room , I put the new Christmas wreath on the front door yesterday thats it so far.

Read this thread, dragged the boxes out of the garage, put up 3ft tree and decorated it, dotted a few seasonal knick knacks around and put away the stuff that they took the place of. I then tried to untangle a mass of stuff, gave up, chucked it in the bin and hoovered up a mountain of glittery bits. Bunged the boxes back in the garage and made a cuppa.
I had meant to do the ironing this afternoon but I am now cream crackered!?

I'm another one, I have forced myself to begin writing cards (there aren't that many) but can't find my bit of paper with everyone's addresses, sod it.
I did buy some presents this morning but was decidedly unenthusiastic.

I was born on the shortest day so I always feel I've been diddled somehow, done out of decently long hours of daylight

I hate this incessant grey weather, definitely not helping.

As for decorations, if I had my way Christmas Eve but DD's coming next Friday and I'm sure she'll have something to say about that

Bath was heaving this morning, I really can't face another trip before the 25th!

I'm surrounded by Christmas parifnailiar as we speak. I've got a bit of a hangover and regret from the works do last evening. Plus the grey grey weather means I'm short of Christmas spirit. Normally I don't do it until the last weekend before but this years build up is busier than usual. Looking after dog and collecting (& probably paying for) Christmas food for holidaying until late Christmas Eve holidaying son,DIL and 4 little uns. Along with my own. Doing a 500 mile round trip to see MiL. I do a bit, sit, do a bit,sit. I'm going to try to keep it low key this year. Just old familiar bits my children bought me when they were little and pictures of them visiting chrismas grottos when younger. ( they hate them, I don't care they make me happy) On the positive side I do love seeing the decorations in people houses as I drive past. Well best get on with it then

My mother who you know by now was a miserable cow always started wailing before Christmas - 'I don't feel like Christmas I cant be bothered its not like in the old days'. By Christmas Eve not only was she terminally depressed but she made everyone around her depressed too. My DS and I are determined not to get like the lovely lady so we throw ourselves at Christmas every year and ring each other constantly to demand progress on preparations. I sometimes have to jolly her up as she can tend towards 'I cant be bothered'. 'Get Bloody Bothered' I shout at her- put those decorations up, get plenty of twinkly lights going and get yourself something lovely to eat and drink - then you can sit back look at your lovely home and Be Thankful!! Just saying that's all.

I haven't even got a tree yet, am relying on some still being for sale next weekend. I hate this feeling of "CBA" but sadly , this year I can't shake it off.
The weather isn't helping.

Not bothering with a Christmas tree this year because we're going to DD's for the duration.

We're moving on Tues/Wed so I can't be worrying about decorations but I'm sure I'll drag a bit of greenstuff indoors and put out my favourite candle holders.

I think the Christmas spirit will all be coming out of a bottle

luckygirl there will be no family coming the DC's dad will drop them off and pick up next day.

I wasn't going to bother at all this year, feeling distinctly lacking in festive spirits. However, after my choir Christmas concert on Wednesday evening, when we were amazed and pleased that over 300 people turned up, I decided to make a bit more of an effort so this morning brought in last year's little table top Christmas tree which has been growing outside in the larger pot I transplanted it into in January. It is now about 2' 6" tall and I have decorated it with tiny baubles and some of the fancy bits from cracker coverings which I always save. It actually looks quite sweet on the hearth. It can go back outside after New Year.

I have also found a large new Christmas candle for the table and DH will find me some holly from the woods. I like to have some holly at Christmas.

Now I'm more in the mood the next job is to think about menus and plan the shopping.

I have just put Christmas things out I have not done anything else yet no shopping until last thing that way it makes it feel more like Christmas

No problem, jings. Whatever other people want to do is fine by me. Each to their own.

Bags we can't all be as pagan nature loving as you.

Some of us like Xmas food.

You can't expect to clean and polish and put the tree and decs up all in one day!

Do the tree as soon as you are up tomorrow, and then the rest of the decs on Monday, again, as soon as you get out of bed. Energy is more plentiful first thing.

Don't bother with cooked lunch tomorrow. Pub, meal from freezer, or sandwiches.
