...she says making her 4th. And I've had a cappuccino out earlier too. Will probably have at least one more (usually herbal) before bed which brings my total to 6 or so cups of something a day. Sounds a lot when I add it up... Sure I shouldn't be having so much caffeine! brew brew brew brew brew brew

Disclaimer: I'm no longer a dentist wink and I should point out that my last-thing-at-night teeth cleaning is my really thorough one, ie at least two minutes with my electric toothbrush followed by tepe brushes and floss. So in theory, there are very few bacteria there for any sugars to work on.
I don't add any sugar to my ovaltine and I've worked out that a heaped teaspoonful of the ovaltine powder has about 7grams of sugar in it. Which isn't that bad in the scheme of things.
I don't have ovaltine every night - only if we have eaten earlier than usual and I feel a bit hungry, or I can't get to sleep and all else has failed smile

Minimum 7 cups of tea daily, sometimes a couple more. Never drink coffee as it causes migraine, but still love the smell of coffee brewing. A couple of more glasses of water. Disturbed sleep!!??

Hello all. It is ages since I posted. I drink only Red Bush tea now, about 4 cups a day plus 2 or 3 coffees/cappuccino. I ended up with dyspepsia after suffering horrendous withdrawl symptoms when coming of 8 months on acid suppressants (lansaprozole). No sympathy from Doctor. It took 2 years of suffering and eliminating various things, until someone mentioned tannin in tea. I changed to Red Bush tea and within 2 days all horrid symptoms disappeared. That was 2 years ago now and I have my life back. Have the occasional ordinary tea when out, but don't enjoy it. Prefer to stick to cappuccino. Some places offer Red Bush, but not many. Not keen on herbal teas.

2 or maybe 3 first thing, 1 or 2 during the afternoon, 1 during the evening and 1 at bedtime (yes, I know "they" say you shouldn't at bedtime but it never keeps me awake). I comfort myself with the research that shows that tea is anti-cancer!

When I was teaching I had to have a large mug of weak tea at each break to keep my voice from giving out. I'd have at least four mugsful. Now I am retired and busy doing other things I forget to drink enough and get very thirsty.

Usually I have a large breakfast cup of good Kenyan ground coffee in the morning, tea at lunchtime and afternoon tea before a final cup after dinner.

I love tea but drink it very weak indeed.

Good, I too can stop feeling guilty about drinking my Ovaltine last thing in bed! Thanks Jane.

Stansgran Wed 09-Dec-15 10:14:07

Jane as a dentist you should know and you have eradicated years of guilt in one fell swoop . Often get up to make a drink after I've cleaned my toothipegs when I can't fall asleep and feel guilty for stumbling back to bed.

blush I have it quite weak and don't add any sugar. In theory the milk has a protective effect and if you clean your teeth beforehand that should be ok. wink

jings You're telling Janea about brushing her teeth?! grin

mumofmadboys Wed 09-Dec-15 07:45:39

One cup of white tea - no milk or sugar and a hot chocolate mid-morning.....that's it... The water ...... maybe some wine - much later though .....LOL

Freshly squeezed orange juice in the morning, about 4 cups of black tea (made with loose tea in a tea pot) and a couple of glasses of sparkling water. I can't drink coffee - gives me a headache and indigestion.

6 or seven mugs of tea a day is not unusual for me. I dont drink coffee now.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 08-Dec-15 22:49:37

I just hope you clean your teeth after drinking that. tchhmm

janeainsworth Tue 08-Dec-15 22:48:15

Two (occasionally 3) large mugs of tea and a cup of coffee. Several glasses of water.
I'm just off to bed with my Ovaltine. moon

Deedaa Tue 08-Dec-15 22:01:02

6 or 7 teas during the day and usually a cappuccino as well.

M0nica Tue 08-Dec-15 21:54:16

I do not have more than one cup of anything in a day. This is not deliberate, it just seems to have happened. Tea, fruit tea, coffee, water, fruit juice, fruit cordial, not necessarily in that order. For some reason there do not seem to be any beverages, hot or cold, that I really like, so that probably explains why I drink so many different things once only.

Greyduster Tue 08-Dec-15 21:49:39

I've never been a big tea drinker. On average, no more than one cup a day, and it will be either rooibos, fruit or peppermint. I can't drink bog standard tea. Just the smell makes me feel queasy. Coffee? Four or five a day. Usually instant.

NotTooOld Tue 08-Dec-15 21:17:05

Tea in bed, thanks to DH, water with breakfast, coffee mid-morning, tea after lunch, tea in the afternoon, water with evening meal....so, that's three teas and one coffee. I think I should probably drink more.

apricot Tue 08-Dec-15 20:22:25

Sometimes one mug of tea, about 5 mugs of coffee every day. Apart from that only water, no alcohol.

rubysong Tue 08-Dec-15 19:43:36

I've had lots today. Mug of tea first thing from teasmade (wonderful machine,) decaf coffee at eleven then about four cups of tea at very posh afternoon tea in private stately home with friends (paid for, not as guests), and a mug of tea with DH as he ate his meal. I am still full of sandwiches, scones etc. so haven't eaten yet.

grannylyn65 Tue 08-Dec-15 19:40:41

Marelli Tue 08-Dec-15 19:35:13

I think I have about 9 mugs of tea in a day. My teapot holds exactly 3 and I seem to fill it about 3 times. tchsmile

cornergran Tue 08-Dec-15 19:33:08

About 8 mugs a day if I'm at home! De-caffeinated though. Not keen on coffee. I do drink water as well. It's a wonder I get through the night. grin
