I remember plastic bags coming in, in the 50s and early 60s. My mum always rinsed hers out if they got mucky, and I have always done the same (unless they're too badly damaged to reuse). I also rinse and reuse cling film. In fact I try to use it as little as possible, and use crocheted doilies, like the old days. This plastic really is a waste of resources. We have become so dependent on these wasteful things, and so detached and unaware of the consequences of them for the environment. We can set an example for our grandchildren if we do these things. Who cares if they think we're crazy? Isn't that item two on Nana's job description? (Item 1: be embarrassing at all times!)

at the poster who returned an item to M & S because it got creased. Please tell me it wasn't something that could be ironed.
