Try Olbas Oil on your pillow, or in a steam inhalation indinana, it has the same slightly vicious quality that old fashioned Vicks had!

Do I remember it just being called 'Vick' when I was a child? I think I first heard 'Vicks' when I went to the US. I do agree, it's not what it was. Inhaling Friars Balsam does it for me.

Oh I wish I knew someone who visited SA! (Bit of a long way to go just to get some Vicks grin)

I agree with you, it is extremely a weak and watered down version here in the UK (which is why I stock up with it when I go back to SA on holiday! grin ) - there you still get the hard stuff.

I've got a really heavy cold and cough, probably the worst I've had for a very long time sad. My nose has been so blocked up, so I sent DH out to get me some Vicks vapour rub, which I haven't bought for many years.
I eagerly unscrewed the jar and dabbed some across the bridge of my nose, waiting for the instant 'hit'. Nothing. I can smell it (just), but it hasn't made my eyes smart as it always used to.
Is it me? Or is good old Vicks just a shadow of its once glorious, eye-watering self?
