I have known my two oldest friends for 57 years, ever since we met at Grammar school. We kept in touch via birthday and Christmas cards for the 20 odd years I lived in Cornwall, now I live closer we meet up several times a year.

I've known my best friend for almost forty years. We met when our children started school together. We live about half a mile apart in the same village and are always there for each other.

I have one friend who I meet up with monthly and we have known each other since we were 11 and at school and we are both now 72.

Another friend lives in Scotland and we are in email contact at least x2 a day and I have known her since we were 21 years old. We meet whenever she and her OH come to London.

I have known my oldest friend for 45 years. She lives in a different part of the UK now but we are still in touch on a regular basis and meet up as often as we can.

My oldest friend I've known for 35yrs she is ill now and we don't meet up anymore but we talk on the phone once a month or so.. I miss spending time with her but she's become a bit of a recluse since becoming sick (her family are hoarders) and has asked me not to come to the house I've respected her decision it doesn't sit comfortably with me but knowing the family as I do I understand.. She knows everything about me and vice versa I can trust her with anything .

One of my closest friends I met at ante natal class forty two years ago. Until Four years ago when she moved to be nearer her son we would meet for coffee once a fortnight. Now we speak for an hour on the phone once a month. We have shared all the ups and downs of our lives and never run out of conversation.I really missed her when she moved away.

I have known my closest friend for about 53 years although we don't see a lot of each other now.Age and illness has stepped in.She came to work with me when she was 18 and by sheer coincidence we had our first babies with in 4 days of each other,I had been married for 7 years and she,9 months and 3 days!! the DC were both 50 in July and we have kept up with them all this time.We now ring every 2 weeks.

Today chatting over a cuppa tea, my friend and I worked out we've known each other for 35 years - meeting up at least once every fortnight to catch up on each others life.
During that time we've probably got through enough teabags and chocolate biscuits to bury the Houses of Parliament, and have come up with enough pearls of wisdom to shame the members in that place..

Do you still keep in contact with friends you've known most of your life? (that's not counting DHgrin)
