Come on let's stop getting superstitious about Friday 13th.

Says she who was fo a long time thinking that I would be driving nearly 90miles home from a holiday, on a FRIDAY 13th.

I was worrying about the bad weather, forecasts of possible flooding in Yorkshire, and the date.

As it happened I drove though several very severe hail storms from Gargrave near Malham all the way onto the M6 at Preston then after a few miles.....!

What happened?? I drove out of the area of severe storms and into very bright sunshine and got home in one piece only a few minutes later than predicted by Tom Tom,.

I do have a sort of half baked theory that worrying about such things could in a way make people more anxious and less careful.

(Apart from events like the very foul weather which Katyk had in Scotland which was far worse than anything I encountered.)

Thank you lucky. She is much better, as are the children. The Idiot is behaving too, for now (not that I'm cynical or anything!) grin

I hope your news was good, too! flowers

How awful Bellansnana. You don't need any more bad luck! flowers

On a brighter note, DD's divorce was granted yesterday!! winewine

Bellanonna Sat 14-Nov-15 12:59:29

bellasnana sad. How awful for you. Thank goodness you were not hurt and I do hope the insurance gets sorted quickly. This, on top of all you've been through. Here's to happier times ahead flowers

I had a mammogram recently, Kl, and also commented on how painless it seemed to be. The radiologist cheered me up no end when she told me that breast tissue becomes less firm as we age, and so is easier to compress - I might change my username to Floppy.

It's over now and I hope everyone is well. I don't believe in any of the nonsense about bad luck on that day. It can happen at any time.

By the way I was 13 on Friday the 13th and my life has been full of bad luck, good luck, and pretty boring not very much at all! smile

I was never superstitious till I had a fairly serious accident on a Friday 13th. The staff in A&E said there were always more accidents on that date, so I have been fearful ever since!!

Auntieflo Fri 13-Nov-15 20:24:24

Oh Bellasnana commiserations and also wine, flowers and cupcake

Bellasnana Fri 13-Nov-15 20:11:18

I am not superstitious at all but set off today to keep an appointment at 10.30am. En route a van decided not to stop at a stop sign and crashed into me at speed. My poor car came off worse in the incident so I am now carless for the foreseeable future. Maybe it is a coincidence, but next Friday 13th I think I will stay home grin

I used to be really superstitious about Friday 13th, but then I planned a winter holiday to India in December with a week on a 'desert island' in the middle of 3 weeks. Guess what day we travelled ...... yep, Friday 13th! We had 4 hours on a coach, 1 1/2 hours on a small plane, and another 2 hours on a boat!!. We arrived safely, and I've never worried about it since.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-Nov-15 16:12:01

shock. No! I didn't mean that! grin

kittylester Fri 13-Nov-15 14:38:27

Are you saying my boobs are fat jings? You'd be right!! grin

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-Nov-15 14:16:53

I washed my hair and got it looking just so. Then went up town on bike and got soaked coming home. And the perishing wind kept blowing my hood off. hmm

Kitty don't forget our boobs get less dense (fat) as we get older, so they don't have to squidge 'em so hard.

baubles Fri 13-Nov-15 14:03:51

Fab photo Alea & glad everything went well kitty smile

I got to the hairdresser & back in one piece although the heating in the salon had conked out. DH is using the car today so by the time I'd got home (fifteen minute walk from the bus stop) I bore more than a passing resemblance to the abominable snowman!

Alea Fri 13-Nov-15 13:16:34

gringrin

Ana Fri 13-Nov-15 12:59:03

I'm having my hair cut this afternoon - will reserve my judgement on the date until afterwards! grin

kittylester Fri 13-Nov-15 12:52:29

Love whatever they are Alea. sunshine

I survived the mammogram which seemed less painful than previously. When I remarked on the this, the radiographer said that there was never any need for it to hurt. confused I knew the previous woman and didn't like her - seems the feeling was mutual. grin

My meeting was good shock

Hoping everyone else has got off lightly too. flowers

ffinnochio Fri 13-Nov-15 12:23:57
