Following on from 'How many homes have you had?' How many English counties have you lived in ( if any)?

I have lived in 7.

None - I have never lived in England.

But I have lived in 3 counties in Wales. Actually I stayed in the same place. but the county changed. It was Monmouthshire in 1951 when I was born, then changed to Gwent in 1974, finally becoming County of Newport in 1996.

Two counties : Cumbria and Northumberland.
I moved the eleven miles from east Cumbria to south west Northumberland twelve years ago.
We intend moving when my DH retires next year, but where will we go?

Anyone else remember that sit-com ?

Eight different ones, but moved back to two of them, so ten moves included change of county.
I now live the furthest west I've ever lived, even though it's just ten miles west of the A1.

tanith Tue 20-Oct-15 17:13:12

2 London Boroughs both in the old Middlesex County.

KatyK Tue 20-Oct-15 17:15:42

Only one - although it has changed names - does that make it two?

Born in S.Yorkshire, lived there nearly 13 years.
Lancashire (became Gtr. Manchester) for 21 years.
Lincolnshire for the last just over 38 years.
Can`t see any more moves now.

MamaCaz Tue 20-Oct-15 17:58:17

I'd have to get an atlas out to calculate the exact number, and even then I'm not sure I could come up with a precise number.
That's because I lived on a narrowboat for nearly twenty years, so 'lived' in many, many counties, albeit only a very brief time in some of them!

Some of you have certainly been around a bit!

Leticia Tue 20-Oct-15 22:33:51

I asked because I thought that I had lived in a lot but I don't seem to be unusual.

LuckyDucky Sat 24-Oct-15 00:00:42

I've lived in in 4 counties, plus 2 countries.

Off subject/btw I keep wishing I could push the UK nearer the equator, as winter draws on grin.
