Chatting with a friend over coffee yesterday I mentioned that I wanted to move some pictures around but was reluctant to do so because DH had chosen where to put them. DH was the most unsentimental person and I said if he could come back he would tell me not to be silly and do what I wanted.

Just after I went to bed last night I heard a terrific crash, at first I thought the garage was being broken into (we have had some burglaries locally) but on investigating I found one of the pictures had fallen off the wall.

On closer inspection this morning, the picture hook is undamaged and the picture wire is unbroken - so what caused the picture to fall?

I worked nights as a Dementia Nurse in a large nursing home. The handyman had made wooden pictorial signs for the bathroom, kitchen etc. I was standing beside the main bathroom, the door was slightly ajar, and two of my colleagues were standing opposite. Suddenly something whistled past my ear and landed on the floor several feet along the corridor. It was the bath with shower over wooden sign from the door. Now, if the glue had given way, wouldn't the sign have just fallen to the floor beside the door? It shot across the corridor with some speed and force. We were all quite unsettled for the rest of the night.

After my mother died we moved into her house. While we were sorting things out I had a lot of her ornaments sittng around the place, including a little blue Egyptian hippo on the mantlepiece. On several occasions the hippo had moved to a different spot - and there was no one in the house but me.
