being a bit -nosey- interested GN past

Off at a tangent, here goes...
I remember the old Cardiff Arms Park, lefthanded from my student days in Cardiff. I also remember hovvering outside Queens Hotel (I think, it's a long time ago!) waiting for 'the team' to appear for the post-match post-mortem/celebration/drinking session. They would be whisked away today!

I don't think I've ever seen a bra with a velcro fastener Stansgran. Fortunately, with the aid of a very nice lady in M & S, she now has a few bras that fit her current size. But her target is still to lose another 2.5 stone so we may have to go through the process all over again in another couple of months.

Alea, it doesn`t feel like it, but it was 3 years ago, October 6th, 2012!! I`m pleased that others remember Glitabo, she was a very nice lady.

why do we have a thread about eggs?

I am not sure whether glitabo has returned under another name, certainly don't recognise anything. She was lovely, JessM and I travelled up to Birmingham with her (2 years ago?) for that meet up. She and I also met locally for coffee and I think she is very committed time wise to helping with her DGC. If you are still out there, ***, do get in touch!

Would substituting Velcro fasteners work ?

I don't really go out of my way to watch rugby rosequartz, although a good game can be quite entertaining. I watched plenty of games at the old Cardiff Arms Park in the past.

I don't think she has ever tried front-fastening - her usual tactic is to do up a back-fastening bra at the front then swing it around into place. But the problem now is that she does not have the dexterity to do the catch up at all - which is where I come in. Her weight-loss has been steady, over about 18 months, but of course nothing fits her now. So we are in the process of getting a whole new wardrobe.

I've searched. I think I do now.

I don't remember a Glitabo. I've racked my brains too.

I disapeared for a while because of personal reasons and other commitments and had to come back as another ID,the fun threads do seem to have dissapeared..

Has your wife tried a front-fastening bra? They are not as flattering imo, but easier to do up. Congratulations to her for losing 5.5+ stone - I am very impressed!

Not that many men carry spears and shields these days and, despite what men believe, women don't spend all their time gazing into mirrors.

I reckon what lefthander and the rest of us really need is a tongue-in-cheek emoticon (and before anyone goes that is not relevant to the male/female discussion)

I wouldn't like such an emoticon lefthanded as I think it could stifle what we say.

With regard to starting a thread on "Men's Shed" - been there-done that. The result was a whole lot of replies which could be summed up as "There used to be a lot of men on here, not sure what happened to them".

I guess what I am advocating, perhaps clumsily, is that it would be nice if posters paused for an instant before pressing the SEND, and asked themselves if what they were about to say would make sense to a mixed-gender audience. As I said, I'm not suggesting that there is any deliberate anti-male attitude, but rather that the assumption that every poster is female leads to a much more insidious exclusion.

(Oh - and I know all there is to know about badly fitting bras. My wife is disabled and has not been able to fasten her own bra for several years now. She recently lost a lot of weight using Slimming World (more than 5.5 stone) and so needs new clothes. And since I am the one who has to help her to try them on I have become quite an expert on the subject.)

I have an aversion to sheds, elegran, probably because of Cold Comfort Farm, not to mention spiders, so I might not accept an invitation to join one!

I don't think I ever feel ignored, picked on or dismissed on Gransnet because I am a man, but then I do try to avoid making sexist comments or expressing views based on my sex (gender is a word I reserve for grammatical issues).

It was nice to meet some of you on the profile thread.
I think that some of our male GNers might feel like they have wandered in to a few pages of the Womans Own. But there are plenty of neutral gender threads such as news and politics, gardening, religion and AIBU . Not forgetting art and craft etc etc
Perhaps they could wander in to the profile thread and tell us a bit about themselves and family.
