We were both at uni and had dated once; he rang me at my hall of residence and said that I just had to come over as he had recorded a wonderful new song and he wanted me to hear it. I went.........I will say no more!

No longer with my husband but always think of Maggie May by Rod Stewart...don't like him or the song but for some reason it was played a lot in pubs that we used to frequent in Birmingham at that time. Music was such a huge part of our life then [well, it still is] that it's difficult to pick out one particular song. On a sadder note there is an Aha song, a Nik Kershaw song and a 1,000 Maniacs song that are so much part of sad events that I can't bear to listen to them. As I got older I learned to stop listening to anything I liked if I was feeling sad.

Our song was 'Lady' by Kenny Rogers. It meant a lot at the time and can still bring a tear to my eye, more so since my beloved died four months ago

Suicide is Painless, the theme tune to MASH. We used to cuddle up to watch every eoisode.

Luckygirl, when I read that he'd recorded Fool on the Hill, it crossed my mind that he was one of the Fab Four.

But he wasn't, was he.....?

Our song is Your Song! Iyswim! Much better than our 1st dance which was to the Gay Gordon's which causes our children to dissolve with laughter.

Instead of making a speech at our 50 wedding anniversary celebration, my husband played "You're once twice, three times a lady", so when I hear that I have a little smile. As everyone seems to agree, music can bring back so many memories. Evidently, when I was a child, and we had a wind up gramophone, if "Smoke gets in your eyes" was played, I would burst into tears, no one knew why, neither did I!

Not long after we met my DH went on holiday with a few of his friends - only for a week, but by golly did I miss him! He rang when he could find a phone box, and sent a couple of postcards, one of which said "I'm lying on the beach, listening to the Mamas and Papas singing Dream a Little Dream of Me. The words speak for themselves"
So, yes, that's our song!

We don't have a song! My DH is tone deaf and all songs sound the same to him. We used to fall about laughing when the DC asked him to sing anything. He sang the same tune to every song!

The Stylistics, "You make me feel brand new" - the words were so apt! We also chose it for our first dance at our wedding, and 37 years later it still brings a lump to my throat when I hear it.
