what season are you?

All of the seasons have something going for them, but Autumn is my real favourite. Just love seeing the leaves gradually changing colour. There are lots of different trees around where I live and you can see the changes on a daily basis. Also the light can be a real golden colour in the afternoons.
Only weather condition I hate is ice, especially when walking. You don't have control and I'm always expecting to slip and fall.
March must be my least favourite month. Cold, wet and windy , not quite Winter, yet not quite Spring. Give me September any time.

In fact until we had railways and radio, which led to the synchronisation of clocks across the UK vast areas operated on local time based on true noon in that area (sundials).

The solution to all this is of course to set UK time at a midpoint (somewhere around the Welsh Border) so that none are more than half an hour out, all year round. This ain't gonna happen because all time zones across the world are based on the Greenwich Meridian. In the meantime we can educate people that the timing of natural noon, sunrise and sunset has to do with Longitude not Latitude and direct people to a proper map which shows the westward slant of the UK rather than the straight up and down version beloved of weather forecasters.

Thank you. My explanation was for the North/south latitude difference affecting day length and solar intensity, yours for the East/west longitude difference and the placing of the Greenwich meridan affecting the connection between time of day and natural sunrise and sunset. Combine the two with the way the British Isles slope off to the northwest and you get wide variation in time/light/warmth.

That won't necessarily make inhabitants of the south-east visualise that conditions in the northwest are not what they are accustomed to, though.

I love the seasons changing. I'd never want to live somewhere with perpetual summer and heat all the year round!

I'm one of those who doesn't like too much heat, though - makes me feel ill. I avoid it, though I do enjoy warm sunshine. I look forward to all the seasons for something. What I don't like is high, dusty summer in August when the kids are off school. Everything looks tired and thirsty and overblown. I prefer the freshness of spring and early summer.
Autumn is a delight, and I love it when it's windy. I want to rush outside and revel in it. In gales and rainstorms, I leave the bedroom window open all night and feel cosy, warm and....lucky. I love the spicy smell of falling leaves, the bonfires, the colours and the mellow light. In winter there are misty, subtle colours of the landscape to look forward to, and the filigree patterns and shapes of the leafless hedgerows and trees.
Perpetual grey days are depressing, and I'm not that keen on darker evenings, but neither do I enjoy heatwaves.

It's wonderful being able to visit gardens and countryside all year round and notice the changes. It's reassuring. That thought kept me going when I was very unwell with depression and anxiety, and now I feel better, I am grateful that I can appreciate everyday things in a way I couldn't before

When we lived in the Far East, I missed the changing seasons. We didn't have seasons - just hot and wet and then sometimes a bit wetter than others! We came home in the dead of Winter with a small child who had never seen snow.

I love Spring for the beautiful Flowers and Autumn for the changing colours.
I am not fond of cold winds and days that are too hot.

I like spring and autumn don't like very hot weather and worry about family when roads are icy but don't mind cool days like going for walks and coming home and house is warm and welcoming xx

Truly it is Autumn. We came back from a walk this afternoon with pockets stuffed with ripe hazelnuts! Delicious!

Born 4 days before Christmas I am definitely not a winter person, I hate it with a vengeance. Spring and summer for me, plus a bit of early autumn before it gets cold, those mellow sunny days.

I'd hibernate from October to April if I could

Must try St. John's Wort this year or I'll be mentally slithering downhill again.

I prefer autumn then spring then summer and winter is bottom of the list unless it is a cold crisp winter then it can tie with summer!! I just do not like cold and damp!

Just give me summer summer summer and summer instead of 4 seasons! NOT that we've had much of a summer here in the North East this year though. I love light sunny mornings and light nights and for me hot weather. should have been born in a different country. My birthday is November and I hate that month, nor am I a big fan of Xmas! If I could spend it in the sun would be my idea of a great xmas day but never been able to. Roll on April and hope its a better summer next year.

This is what friends of ours said when they retired- and off they went to live in the South of Spain and they absolutely adored it ... for about 5 years. One day they came out to the patio to the scorching sun and scorched earth, and scorched garden and scroched countryside, looked at each other and said 'let's go back- we want seasons, we even will love the rain, and the snow' - they packed, gave the keys to the estate agents, and never looked back.

I so love having seasons, and the clear contrasts, different flowers, different birds, different fruit and veg, and so much more. But yesterday, with th glorious sun and the changing colours, I had to admit 'atutumn is my absolute favourite'.

I was born in the winter, just before Christmas, and I've always liked the winter months apart from when it's icy and it's dangerous to venture out.

The summer is lovely but I've had too skin cancers (benign) and I'm a magnet for biting insects, so when the weather gets colder it's a relief. I also don't sweat until the temperature reaches 80F so I often feel uncomfortable in the warmer months.

Someone told me that this winter may be a harsh one so I'm stocking up on essentials.

I was born in late winter at the end of February and it was apparently a particularly severe winter.
The season I like best is spring when the leaves are just breaking out on trees and and hedgerows. Those early spring colours in the trees are really amazing.

Summer but its a rare thing , no gradual build from warm spring to a flaming hot July and august!!
It's so up and down it's mid July before I shed winter clothing, then the summer is over by mid sept:
Rain and high winds are truly what's spoilt quite a few summers since 2000!
But I do love Christmas ...with my big family !! We have grown in number and do things in simple ways , cards, board games , lots of belly laughs !!! It does not have to be expensive !!!

I love early summer when the countryside bursts into leaf and blossom. Hate late summer, it's all dead grass, prickles, stinging and biting insects.
I used to be a winter person but old age means I'm stiff and aching, cold all the time and worried about the gas bill and slates blowing off the roof.
This autumn is wonderful, far better than summer was.

I love early Spring. Autumn is spoilt for me by spiders in the house as I can't bear 'em. Like someone above, I quite like 27 December!
