On another thread someone's friend uses Wiggy for her genitalia.
I grew up with no words for any part of my rude bits, they were never ever mentioned. Nowadays I say Fanny. What do the rest of you say?

Have just noticed that this thread is currently directly below "Welcome to new members" grin

Having a similar conversation with DS last week. He was telling me about a 'lady' at his work who spoke about her front clacker and her back clacker. I don't know why I think that's funny and I'm fed up that its now stuck in my mind!!

I think if I was taking a small child to the doc's I would say 'front passage' or 'willy' , just so that the child had a chance of understanding what we were talking about, as well as the doctor.

henetha Mon 21-Sept-15 10:14:28

My pet bird is called Wiggy, so ....no.. . grin.

Anyway, I'm like a Walt Disney character and don't have any of those bits.

Lona Mon 21-Sept-15 10:31:02

Cheeky bits if its lighthearted, but proper names if it's a serious conversation. My little dgd has a flower.

Luckygirl Mon 21-Sept-15 10:31:51

My parents used to live next door to a John Thomas - he was a total p***k!

He was, honestly! grin

Funnygran Mon 21-Sept-15 11:41:40

I needed stitches after my first baby was born 40 years ago. The young lady doctor who did the job explained that she would do it carefully so that I wouldn't have a 'slack Alice' in later life!
We had a John Thomas as a neighbour too and I'm sure my father took great delight in using his name as often as possible.

DJS685 Mon 21-Sept-15 11:48:49

My dgs has a willy and his sister has a twinkle. I refer to my own down below parts as fanny and bum. When I was little my parents referred to my fanny as my jim jim!!!

Galen Mon 21-Sept-15 11:51:39

When I was a GP, we had a family with John Thomas senior, junior and the youngest was John Thomas the third!

harrigran Mon 21-Sept-15 11:53:29

All the Johns in my mother's family were John Thomas.

shysal Mon 21-Sept-15 12:13:28

There was a long line of Dicks in my family!

Nobody has mentioned vulva?
Friend of mine called it her volvo, said she was going to the doctors as she had an inflammation of the volvo. I thought you need a mechanic not a doctor....

Cosafina Mon 21-Sept-15 13:43:32

When I was a child I had 'tweenies' and my brothers and dad each had a 'bolly'. No idea where that came from (I used to confuse it with 'brolly'), and I was shocked to read about a 'tweeny maid' in Bunty!
DD called it a fanny (which she mispronounced as fammy) and DGS has a willy (which he's very fond of). Although he enjoys talking about my boobies he's never shown any interest in what might be between my legs - mabye I'd better check with DD what she wants it called!

Atqui Mon 21-Sept-15 13:53:14

AnaI doubt that apricot really considers them rude - she's probably harking back to her childhood and being a bit facetious or should that be ironic?

Luckygirl Mon 21-Sept-15 14:55:00

Yes - I have always thought it odd that little girls who are taught to use the anatomical words refer to their visible genitalia as a vagina. It should be vulva or pudenda, the origin of which word in Latin is "shameful parts." hey ho - that Eve has a lot to answer for!!

janerowena Mon 21-Sept-15 15:00:33

I was with my sister when my 3 year old niece came into the room minus her knickers, holding up her dress and pointing downwards, demanding 'What's this called?' My sister was speechless, she obviously hadn't expected that situation to arise quite so soon! She said, playing for time,

'Well, it hasn't really got a name that you could use or remember, but when you are a big girl it will be called a Vagina'. confused

BIG mistake - every half hour after that for about the next five years my niece referred to her 'My Big Girl's Gina'. grin

Nelliemoser Mon 21-Sept-15 15:29:07

I must ask my daughter what term she wants to use about her son's bits.

AlgeswifeVal Mon 21-Sept-15 16:38:12

Just call it boy's bits and girls bit's. However, you shouldn't be embarrassed about talking about this part of your anatomy. Every living human and animal has one.

cupcake1 Mon 21-Sept-15 18:07:02

My mother used to refer to it as 'tuppence'! Don't ask me why! Not heard anyone else use it then or since!

Anne58 Mon 21-Sept-15 18:07:34

Where I used to work (at a country club) we had a (ahem) "member" whose given name was Ivor Stiff shock , he always insisted on using his middle name, which was John.

There was another family called "Veryard"

I was always tempted to introduce them to each other, "Oh the Veryards, do come and meet the Stiffs" grin

Ana Mon 21-Sept-15 18:12:20

Didn't mothers used to advise their daughters to 'keep your hand on your ha'penny'?

BlackeyedSusan Mon 21-Sept-15 18:16:00

shock phoenix. what was his mother thinking?

ninathenana Mon 21-Sept-15 18:19:59

DD went to school with a boy named Micheal Hunt
Say it with the shortened version of Micheal grin
BTW I hate the 'c' word
