A couple of things you might not know about me.......

I could live on nachos, morning, noon and night and drink tea (good strong builder's brew) all day too, if I could.

My DH and I once had a meal at a restaurant in Northam, North Devon (I think it was called Grays if I remember correctly) and sat at a table alongside Billy Connolly and Leonard Rossiter (amongst others) - it was back in the 80s and they were filming a movie called Water (I even had the same starter as Leonard Rossitor - Banana Curry Soup - it was amazing).

I hate flying, but have flown a few times over the years, before going to Vancouver, some 10 years ago, I listened to a hypnosis CD - it worked; I got bored!

I have had a wrist replacement - similar to a hip replacement and knee replacement, but not as common - I like to be different.

I have just finished my latest crochet project. Now I need some more yarn.
I love the sea, and boats. I would sail anywhere but have never been on a cruise.
I took up bowls years ago and even bought my own initialed set of woods. Now I never play. I wonder why.
I would love to be properly retired. ( I work 15 hrs a week).
I have never lived more than eleven miles from where I was born.

I have owned 4 boats.
The last one I lived on for 20 years.
Spent a year on the French canals.
Have sailed the English Channel many times. Crewed for many people when I was a teenager.
Gave Glenda Jackson a coffee on one of my boats and didn't realise who she was.
Have owned 4 Motohomes. Visited every country in Europe in the last Motohome.
My OH owns a rare 1937 Hotrod. He has just been contacted by a film company for them to use it. Great!! get some money back on it lol.
Now all I want is the Bungalow and garden that I now have.

There's a spider living under my telly stand that frightens the ar-e off me every night when it comes out to menace me. I hate driving, rubbish at reversing & parking but force myself onto the M1, M5 and various nasty A roads several times a year so I can see my kids & grandkids. I frequently have words with myself about being kind to people in efforts to control my critical spirit. I try to make people laugh, but have been accused of showing off. I know what it is to be badly hurt & demeaned by my husband but I try to get over it and I think it gives me sympathy for women yet more badly treated. I love that song "I will survive", because that's what women do so they can care for others. I have been depressed many times and my women friends have pulled me out of it. For therapy I remind myself daily of all the women struggling with serious illnesses who get on with their lives without succumbing to self pity: then I go and give the hob a desultory clean, flop onto the sofa with one of the three books I'm reading at any one time. It works.

Sorry, just read my post above and it could be MORE light hearted, but at least not as braggy as some of the others.

I love this thread and have always seen it as lighthearted and fun. I have certainly never thought of any of the posts as 'braggy'. I am sure no one intended to boast when they mentioned any achievements. They are simply doing what the original post suggested. I feel that 'braggy' is an unfortunate choice of word.

I don't think they are braggy - just peoples lives. If they are braggy, here are a couple more.

I am scared of almost everything - my DH's name for me is Nervous Nerys, although my name is not Nerys - but I do the things I am scared of anyway.
I had a horrible childhood and never thought I would go anywhere or see anything but I have been to many wonderful places around the world.
I have never learned to drive or swim but would love to have done both.
I have overcome a lot of horrible things and am still here.
I have been interviewed a few times for local radio.

When I said that after a visit to the hairdresser was looking really rather gorgeous I wasn't bragging - it was the truth!

But truth be told, it was my hair that was gorgeous ..... roots done, few highlights, cut & blow-dried into a half-fringey flicky-uppy layered bob - I was every inch a babe!

Having just washed and blow-dried for the first time, with plenty of 'product' it's taken on a pudding-basin, short fringe appearance, a la my old school photos.

My mother accidentally ran over me with the car when I was nine years old. I was sitting in the driveway with a big dog in my lap as she came around the corner of the house.
I won a ticket stub drawing for Pauls jacket at a Paul Revere and the Raiders concert. They were an American band in the 60's.
I went on a European Tour at 19 with a friend. It was three weeks everything paid for.It cost 1,000 dollars! London,Paris,Nice,Venice,Rome,Belgium,Germany,Montecarlo..having trouble remembering...oh Lucern.

I have just got back from Hawaii (not braggy, still amazed I went there)
In my teens, I met Richard Burton, Anthony Quinn and Charlie Chaplin. (Had a holiday job in film studios canteen)
I drive a Nissan Juke, what a lot of us do!
I have a dear virtual friend I met on GN. Hope to meet soon.
Would love to play an instrument, but musical idiot.

I was the tallest in my country primary school by about a foot when I was ten. 5'7". I grew so fast I couldn't co-ordinate my feet and tripped over an infant when running across the playground. Luckily I then stopped growing.

I was a great disappointment to my mother, who played piano and church organ very well and sang in a good choir, that I'm not musical at all. I'm only allowed to sing when I'm driving. Alone.

I can't read music. The dots keep jumping up and down on the lines. But...... I can ring church bells. Well, one bell. I can cope with one note!

I've tried learning French but my accent was so bad no Frenchman could understand me, so I gave up. i will try again..... One day..... Really I will.

I was a disappointment to my mother for not toeing her line in everything!!

Gaining inspiration from some of the above posts;

I was the smallest in secondary school for 4 years, until a girl with dwarfism started. I managed to reach 5'3'' eventually.
In my mother's eyes my brother was perfect but I could never please her.
I don't like any hot drinks or alcohol. I drink the occasional caffeine free diet coke but happy with tap water.
I used to love the sunshine, but these days I can't stand the heat.
I love to bake (and eat the results).
My grandmother used to hang out her tea bags to dry and use them again.
I enjoy gardening but hate housework.

I was not particularly short when I was 10 ..my passport said 4' 10". I only grew a further 4" after that!

My favourite sport at school was lacrosse.

I though Peter Noone form Herman's Hermits was wonderful when I was 13!

Still not very exciting ( some of you live amazing lives) but I am coming back for a second go.......

I am an accidental gardener. I absolutely love it but can barely name 10 plant varieties. I just kind of guess and it seems to come together as if by magic.

I am a tiny touch of some of your posts.

I've been 5' 5" inches tall since I was 11 which was brilliant for being goal shooter in the netball team at that age because no-one else was as tall. Unfortunately, everyone else grew and, as they were better at any sport than me, I was dropped.

I too was/am a huge disappointment to my mother,*Ann*, because I didn't conform to her ideas at all but that is not something which regular readers of my posts haven't heard before.

Substitute Roy Orbison for Johnny Cash in gillybob's list, and I could say ditto.

Here are a few more brags then. This thread has made me (a person who always dwells on negatives) realise that I am very lucky in some respects.

I have been to Venice 4 times.
I have been to New York.
I have been to several a few Greek Islands (got back from Thassos on Sunday)
I have been to France eight times, been to Seville, Madrid, Lakes Como and Garda, the Amalfi Coast, and many other places.
As well as my many lovely Beatles experiences, I have seen the Rolling Stones twice, Tom Jones twice in the '60s, The Kinks, Cilla, Gene Pitney, loads of the Mersey groups back in the day. George Harrison spoke to me and a couple of other fans once. (I was madly in love with him )

Not bad for a girl who was dragged up in the back streets of Birmingham.
