Helloooooooooooooooo

I marvel at your ironing stamina, soop! Have a restful evening
I wonder if sometimes we can remain positive on our own behalf in the face of adversity and yet the sadness or misfortune of others can somehow slip under that "defensive" wire? I know the feeling of so much sadness and grief around can feel sometimes unbearable and yet we also owe it to our friends to remain strong for them. Hard.
Warmest wishes to those in your village whose hearts are heavy -Soop and to you who worry or grieve with them
Haven't been able to get into the kitchen for a while as life has been very busy. Glad you are back with us pompa do let us know when the new grandchild arrives.
Sorry I missed wishing MacSporran a happy birthday. Looks like you had a good time though Soop. What sad times you have in your village but it must be a comfort for those who live there to have support during these difficult times.
So sad to read about what hard times your friends are going through Soop, my best wishes to them all, and to you, for caring so very much.
<whispers Wakey Wakey>
Early in the Kitchen as DH is having a "procedure" today and is Nil By Mouth from 7 so dutiful wifey had his tea on his bedside table at 6 and he is attacking the Shredded Wheat as I write (tucked up back in bed
. )
Do others wake up at regular intervals in the night when they know they have an early start? Couldn't get off, despite Valerian tea, then awake at 1.30, 3, 10 to 5 and just before the alarm going off at 6.
Offered the chance to go "out" to Grace and got the greyhound equivalent of an "old fashioned look" and a "Harrumph!"
Damp and dismal here (not to mention DARK) hope it is nicer for you all!
Meant to ask, is macSporran auditioning for the part of Birnam Woods in the Scottish play, or just trying to hide???
Yes, Alea I never sleep well when I know that I have to get up early! I think it's because I'm out of the habit (thank goodness!)
soop I don't know how you managed to stand and iron for five hours! Couldn't you lower the board and sit down for the "mundane" stuff? Please have a restful day today.
xx
stillhere if you lived near me every apple would be taken with the greatest of pleasure, Living in London we have very few fruit trees around.
soop where does all of the ironing come from? I know that you iron for a friend but the amount that accumulates there is horrendous. I have been retired for 13 years and now that I no longer have to go vaguely smartly dressed for work, I rarely bother. Maybe you need a few days rest here at slob's retreat.
Your photo is lovely- everybody looking happy and relaxed." Do a Rory", you will feel better after a couple of hours resting your eyes. You are doing too much.
How lovely it is to pop into our kitchen and find so many Granspals have been in and left messages. It is a lovely start to my day.
Pompa!!!! Please put us lot out of our misery.
I do my pal's ironing at her home...three Pomeranian dogs sit at my feet! I cannot iron whilst sitting. The scoliosis (lateral curvature of my spine) would make the task more tiresome. I had left my own ironing in order that I might finish the portraits of the beasties first. My pal washes every item of clothing that she and her husband has worn once. Trousers, jeans, dressing gowns, shirts, blouses, sweaters, undies (and dishcloths and towels)...armrests from the chairs. then I have to turn all her tights (knotted from the wash) outside in, check for snags and isolate the unwearables. I love her to bits. She hears me complain all the time but she knows that I shall continue to help her out. I rarely let my own ironing get to the stage where I can't take the strain. bags knows all about "payback-time"
Alea I hope that your husband's procedure goes well.
Our granddaughter made a lovely cut-out card of our wee house (with Rory in the window) for *MacS's birthday. The photo doesn't really do it justice.
soop I only wear clothes once and they are in the machine for washing. It goes back to my boarding school days when we wore a blouse for a week and some items for longer.
What will your friend do if you could no longer iron for her? At least she is grateful.
That is a lovely card for MacSporran- it has taken time and effort. I notice that Rory has had too much sun!
Can I assume that your scoliosis was not treated in your youth when diagnosed? You would possibly have a spinal fusion if diagnosed nowadays.
The early dark evenings have fooled Tara and she has come home at 5pm- a change from 9pm or later.
Beautiful card! How clever your granddaughter is! Does she sell cards? If so, please could you PM me a link?
Thank you soop, he is having a TOE (trans-oesophageal echocardiogram) whew! That was a mouthful, which is more than the poor thing has been allowed since 7 a.m!
Charleygirl It was diagnosed but, like many conditions in "those days" it was not treated. Never mind...I cope.
Will do, bags x
Alea I hope all goes well. Please let us know how your husband is after the procedure.
Alea no doubt he will make up for it when he comes home.
soop in many ways it may be better that you were not treated as you may have ended up much worse. I think that it was Princess Eugenie who was treated for the same condition- one of the princesses anyway.
It is a miserable dull, rainy day here today. I had to get up early because the idiot who was coming to fix my TV got lost yesterday using a sat nav and ended up at the Tower of London rather than NW London where the office is in Pinner, about 3 miles, if that from my front door. I wasted all of yesterday afternoon and most of this morning waiting for him but at least I now have a working TV again.
I have a tree full of apples that are being left for the birds
Charleygirl Yes, you're correct. Princess Eugenie had the same condition...now fixed. I would now stand a few inches taller had mine been attended to.
Pleased to hear that the TV has been fixed. Oh dear! Some folk are the pits when it comes to making a journey (without the need to stop and admit to being lost.)
Galen is the rude hedge in your garden?
No! Gary wouldn't dare, and I always pay him.
What is it about men mainly and satnavs?
A total berk driving a fuel tanker ignored all road signs and the fact that the back hill is barely wide enough for one car and blithely drove down it. He got as far as the narrowest bit where he went off the side and dug himself into the mud. No recovery vehicle could get to him for 5 days..... His excuse? 'My satnavs said it was ok!' Twerp!

Night night to our Kitcheners. Time for me to do something useful. Back tomorrow after visiting our pal in the care home.
Alea, I hope your better half came through his procedure in one piece, and that you had something tasty for him when he got home.
I`m still coming to terms with the holiday that we`ve booked! All my life I`ve wanted to see the fjords in Norway, never dreamt that I would actually go there.
number I am thrilled for you and not a little
!! I hope it will be as wonderful as it sounds.
DH had his TOE this afternoon, he has had many "oscopies" down and up both ends but he said this was one of the more unpleasant. He was NBM from 7 a.m. but not allowed to eat or drink again until 7 p.m. I think the dehydration was what bothered him most, but I did him poached salmon with watercress sauce, spinach and rice, all designed to slip down easily, then some natural yogurt, also "slippy" and soothing.
What with a gastro appointment in London yesterday, I feel we have seen enough of the NHS for a wee while!
Now looking forward to NOT making an early start tomorrow!

Where are you sailing from? Is it Avonmouth?
Alea
Love to both of you!
