Hello my darling Granspals...It has been a long unsettling morning. Eventually managed to sit and chat with our pal in the care home. Fourteen residents (most asleep) or watching a vast television screen (or calling for assistance.) Neither MacSporran nor I could find anything light-hearted to say on the journey home. So we were silent.

kitty What to say? I so admire your level-headedness in spite of so much disruption. That man AKA the Plonker is a menace. Nellie is right. I would like to think that the rozzers may have knocked some sense into the idiot. I am truly sorry that you and your family are made miserable by his behaviour. I wish us lot could do something positive for you.

janer It's good to know that your husband is recovering. I would like to believe that he returns from the meeting with positive news. You deserve it.
The kitchen will not close over the festive season. In fact, we're half way to opening another extension. Wouldn't it be nice if we could magic ourselves to a gathering? We would have fun, I'm sure.

Rory is a little brighter again today. Much to MacSporran's relief. On one occasion, during the evening, when Rory took it into his head to sleep under the dressing table (not as usual on *MacS's lap) the bathroom light was left on ...in case he wakes up and doesn't know where he is. I ask you.

PS...I have no idea what a plonker is. Perhaps Elegran will tell me.

By the way Soop, maybe I`ve missed something somewhere, but have you ever painted Rory`s portrait? Glad he seems to be perking up again.

Don't know what it means but wasn't Rodney (Only Fools) a plonker. Actually, the Idiot isn't a plonker. Rodney was quite loveable in a way - the Idiot isn't!

Good afternoon to our lovely Kitcheners

So sorry number I've delved into many folders but haven't yet located the portrait of HRH Rory. When I find it, I shall share with you.

We blackberry picked this morning. I shall add them to an apple crumble. Loverly jubberly as Del Boy was known to say.

It is a pleasant day. Calm and fragrant - as autumn should be. It is my favourite time of year.

Scotland play rugby at 2.30. Yay! I shall make a pot of tea and see if there's any of that scrummy lemon drizzle cake lurking in the cupboard. Wishful thinking on my part.

I am hoarse. Scotland v Samoa...what a match! On with the kettle Come on Scotland!

I'm exhausted, soop! Yelling at the TV really took it out of me. Now I need to support the Welsh. Need a .

Good morning POGS It's as well that there aren't too many matches like yesterdays to watch. I doubt that I could cope with the stress. Rory would most definitely leave home...I'm still on a high. So very proud to be a born again Scot.

We've booked a night in a hotel in Glasgow. A final evening with MacSporran's sister, son and daughter before they return to Australia. It will make a pleasant change for us. Good to sit and chat and enjoy and not to have to bother with cooking or washing the dishes.

I agree, the pair of you could do with a nice break and as you said, the dishwashing will not be your responsibility for once.

Rory could come here for a stroke or cuddle, especially as Tara is out for so many hours.

She is having her annual vaccination next Friday at 10.30am. I am going to have to stay in bed until 9,30am and then get up. She will be screaming her head off and climbing up the door to get out. It will be a fun trip in the car if I ever get her into her cat basket.

I think when we return, I will be going to lie down in a darkened room while she is out roaming for hours. The alternative is a trip to the Cat Protection League where I first chose her 9 years ago when she was around 2 years of age!

Lona One night away from Rory is going to be difficult. We're far too soft.

The weather here is grey and cool. Time for lighting a fire methinks. I really appreciate the comfort of a real fire. I like the sound of crackling wood and the flickering of flames. The nights are drawing in and in Scotland the sun sets early at this time of the year.

Whilst I was out gardening, Mr. ffinn made a tray of apple turnovers with the tail end of our Bramleys. They're on the kitcheners table, so dig in.

Always good to have a break away to look forward to soop.

ffinnochio I swear that I can smell the delicious aroma of freshly baked apple turnovers right here and now. You cannot beat a good Bramley for cooking with. We picked a large quantity of blackberries yesterday. Blackberry and apple crumble is on our menu.

Charleygirl I do not envy you the task of keeping Tara indoors (against her will) or the trip to visit the vet. When Rory was injured some time ago by a weasel/otter/mink? we had to pay the vet to travel from Campbeltown to put him in a carrier and go back to the surgery for treatment. He went bonkers...after all, he was only just getting used to being a domestic cat. It must have been awfully scary to have someone throw a blanket over him and take him on a 25 mile journey to a strange place. His wifelet and two female kittens were trapped outdoors and they were really good over night. The man from the Cat Protection League looked after them after they had been spayed. He then brought them back to our garden, opened the trap doors and set them free into the forest where they lived. I shall never forget the sight of all three scampering away through the undergrowth.

Have a lovely time, soop and macsporran. Minibags and I are also off on our travels tomorrow, going to see the Derbyshire family.

ffinn, when I was a student in Dundee my friends and I would sometimes go to the all-night bakery shop off the Hawkhill (I don't know if it is still there as that part of Dundee has changed a lot since I was there) for warm apple turnovers or fresh rolls. I've never had such good apple turnovers since, until I tasted MrFfinn's just now in The Soop Kitchen [lip-smacking emoji]. Thank you.
