I hope you had a lovely lunch out, soop. Happy anniversary to you both wine

annodomini Thu 01-Oct-15 15:24:28

What a magnificent day! 1st October and not a cloud in the sky, nor a breath of wind. Lovely walk round the park and by the lake where there are plenty of benches where I can sit and enjoy watching the reflections and the ducks and observe that the autumn tints have intensified even in the last three days. The weather is still so summery that the garden is full of clouds of gnats which will perish in the first frost. I hope you're all enjoying this weather as much as I am.

ffinnochio Thu 01-Oct-15 15:25:31

Congratulations to you both, soop! flowers + sunshine

soop Thu 01-Oct-15 15:26:05

Thank you one and all. We have a simple, delicious meal. A glass of wine and a naughty sticky pud. Then we met up with friends that we haven't seen for ages. One lady took a photo of us. It's delightful because MacSporran isn't trying to "pose" (as he puts it) wink

We visited a lovely shop selling home-grown veg and garden flowers. MacS bought me a beautiful posy of deliciously perfumed sweet peas.

The pig that normally lives in the pen beside the shop, was missing. I feared the worst. Hey ho...as bags would say...she has gone on a wee trip to meet a handsome boar. When she last visited him, she later produced eight pink piglets. grin

annodomini Thu 01-Oct-15 15:28:02

Let me guess, soop. It's now time for a celebratory Magnum?

annsixty Thu 01-Oct-15 16:18:28

Delightful photograph soop you both look so happy.
Well you obviously are. Congratulations.

numberplease Thu 01-Oct-15 18:14:34

Happy Anniversary Soop and MacSporran, sorry I`m a bit late in the day. Love the photo, and the posy is very pretty.

numberplease Thu 01-Oct-15 18:15:24

Meant to say, you were wed on our eldest son`s 19th birthday.

soop Thu 01-Oct-15 18:41:50

We've had a lovely day. Thank you for so many good wishes. I appreciate it.

No Magnum, anno hmm

Friends have called in with a bottle of Tamdhu - a 10 year Speyside Malt, matured in Sherry casks.

You know what comes next. We'll need to sample a wee dram (or two) and when we do, I shall raise to toast to you lot...you're very special peoples (as Torben would say). wine Slainte!!! xxx

Last night's sunset...

dustyangel Thu 01-Oct-15 18:58:57

soop that sunset is magnificent.
A very late Happy Anniversary from me. Sorry, I have been out all day.
You two have obviously enjoyed a lovely day together, so cheers from me, wine and may you have many more. flowers

Charleygirl Thu 01-Oct-15 22:18:07

I also have not been around- delighted to hear that yourself and MacSporran had such an enjoyable day. You will sleep well tonight having had the odd dram or three. flowers

Bellasnana Fri 02-Oct-15 14:57:17

It is indeed a super photo of you two love-birds, soop. I love the pig story and trust you will indulge us with photos of the resulting piglets when they arrive grin

Fingers crossed, I have a buyer for the house. They are bringing their architect tomorrow and, if he gives the go-ahead, we will sign the contract on Monday. In Malta that means the buyer puts down ten percent deposit which they lose if they pull out. It also means the vendor cannot sell it to anyone else. So I shall gave three months in which to find a new abode shock

I had some awful news last night. My best friend from my schooldays has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. We have been the closest of pals for 47 years and met up in August when she came up to London from Chester. We spent a lovely day together catching up. Who would have thought what was around the corner. I feel very weepy for her and her family. Her DH has taken the news very badly. I wish I could fly to her bedside but it isn't easy at the moment.

I think I will change my username to Bad News Bella as that's all I seem to have had this year sad

Charleygirl Fri 02-Oct-15 15:03:10

Oh dear Bella I am so sorry to hear that you have received yet more bad news. When is it all going to end?

That is good news that there is a strong possibility that your house will be sold on Monday and you can start looking. Have you got anywhere in mind?

Lona Fri 02-Oct-15 15:15:06

Oh bella after you had such a lovely time together, that's very sad indeed! sad

That's a speedy sale, fingers crossed that it goes well. I hope you can find something suitable without too much trailing around. At least it will keep you busy and your mind occupied. Will you stay in the same area?

dustyangel Fri 02-Oct-15 15:46:32

Oh Bella I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Life's a b**r isn't it. sad

I'm glad you've got a firm offer. It's a similar arrangement here. Not long to find somewhere you like. Have any of your local family got room to give you a temporary home?
If you do find somewhere it would mean moving in the early New Year. shock

kittylester Fri 02-Oct-15 15:50:45

Bella, I'm so sorry to hear your bad news. As dusty says, life is a b****r with a few other expletive thrown in. How awful for you. I hope your DGD can lift your spirits. flowers

annodomini Fri 02-Oct-15 16:35:55

I do hope your house sale works out and you find one to your liking, Bell. That sounds like a very sensible system, unlike ours in England which allowed my DS's purchaser to pull out just as contracts were to be signed and only a couple of weeks before the proposed moving date! So they were back to square one, and still are there.

annodomini Fri 02-Oct-15 16:37:19

Sorry Bella, I meant to add how sorry I am to hear about your friend. There is so much sadness all around us and I do hope that soon you will find a cause for joy in your life again. flowers

loopylou Fri 02-Oct-15 17:09:55

Bella I can only echo what kittyl says, what an utterly hideous time for you. I do hope the house sale turns the tide for you very soon, this is definitely a year you won't be sorry to see end x

Belated Happy Anniversary to the lovebirds! A spectacular sunset for a lovely occasion.

Just spent an hour sitting in the sun.....if only this glorious weather would last until spring smile

numberplease Fri 02-Oct-15 17:15:41

So sorry Bella to hear about your friend, you are someone who really deserves to hear some good news, hopefully very soon.
Pleased to hear about your house sale though, have you seen anything you have a yen for yet?

soop Sat 03-Oct-15 10:46:35

Dearest Bella I too am so sorry to hear the sad news about your friend. flowers

I apologise for neglecting you lot yesterday. We had visitors from Australia and Beverly in Yorkshire...all related to MacSporran . Our feet didn't touch the ground throughout the entire day. It was an extremely happy gathering.

I've now to visit the lady in the care home. It's her 95th birthday today.

I promise to pop in this afternoon. I need to catch up with my Granspals news.

Until later...take care. smile

loopylou Sat 03-Oct-15 10:56:47

I've had a lovely start to my day; 25 months old DGS FaceTimed me at 7.30, all on his own grin! DS was 'making toast' apparently and DDIL had 'gone on train' (University Open Day). I honestly didn't understand 80% of the 'conversation' but it was delightful. DS came on after a few minutes and said this was the first time DGS had done this, I'm sure it will be happening again.

Charleygirl Sat 03-Oct-15 11:59:08

loopyloo that is amazing that at 25 months he can do that! It would appear that he is more computer literate than me and I am marginally older!!! You must be so proud of him.

soop what a lovely day you had yesterday meeting up with MacSporran's relatives you have not seen for a while. Hopefully you will be able to rest today and give that poor neglected cat some cuddles.

loopylou Sat 03-Oct-15 12:19:17

I'm very proud of him Charleygirl (like all grandmothers!) but I hope and suspect it was more by luck, although he does know how to turn it on and off and watch Peppa Pig - I think my DS and DDIL need eyes in the back of their heads! Like all little 2year old boys he never sits still for more than a few seconds.

Sun is just starting to come out, here's hoping all kitcheners have a lovely afternoon.
