I did that as a child but perhaps with a splinter of wood off a lolly stick or a matchstick. Can't actually remember. Cocktail stick would do but perhaps in our yesterdays' mum world they were not so common

Thinking of you, Galen. I don't think you ever get used to it and it is always poignant on birthdays and anniversaries as you reflect on what might have been, as well as the good times. and (((hugs)))
I, too, am looking forward to our cruise. It will be just after the first anniversary of losing DH, and his birthday will be when we are on board. It will be lovely to be with you.

When I was younger I always wanted to be one of those women with pins in their mouths as they worked miracles altering or making clothes - never happened. My paws are too sweaty. 
Off to the dentist later to find out why one of my crowns is grumpy.

I've done one huge basket of ironing (for a pal) and towards the end I felt like a wet rag.
It is a glorious day. Absolutely perfect in every sense. There was yet another beautiful sky last night. I shall share a few photos with you later.
Time for a much needed coffee together with a cheese and Marmite seeded Ryvetta and a crunchy apple.

We'll be celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary tomorrow. A simple but delicious lunch at the Glenbarr restaurant, will be our treat.
annsixty The world appears to be going mad where children's best interests are concerned. In the 1940s we were free to have "adventures"...and now, it seems, every surface in the home needs to be disinfected in order to be so-called safe. Utterly ridiculous!

Pins I too loved removing them from my mum's pincushion and making a different pattern, and a mouthful of pins when dressmaking too!
I don't think it was a pin but I can remember picking pomegranate seeds out with something. Probably a cocktail stick. We always seemed to have around the house, if we were very lucky we were allowed fish the maraschino cherry off the end as well.
I was very pleased and shocked to receive an email from GNHQ this morning saying that I have won a Robot Hoover. I wasn't going to enter as we already have an iRomba (after reading about them on GN) but both DDs volunteered to give it a good home and not argue over it I was really excited, DH even more so. 
I started entering the competitions after DD2 who seems to win all sorts of things said, "Well you never win if you don't enter." 
dustyangel I'm delighted for you and your daughters. It must have been such a surprise. I'm afraid that I hardly ever enter competitions. I do know a few people who are extraordinarily lucky.
Tonight's sunset promises to be another stunner. I cannot remember ever seeing the sea look so perfectly calm with barely a ripple. A duck swam by a moment ago. Had I been on the beach (and not sitting here with dripping wet, freshly shampooed hair) I could have taken a decent photograph.
I've one last job to tackle. The sunshine streaming through the window, has highlighted a generous layer of dust on the bookcase.
Oh yes the sun certainly shows up the dust.
I'm posting a photo of our sunset this evening, although as you can see the sun isn't in quite the right place to get the full sunset yet. The whole sky was awash of pink tonight. It bodes well for tomorrow.
I'm liable to forget that I wouldn't dream of popping outside to take a quick photo in the evening in UK. Let alone with wet hair.
The second one is to the east over the old house which we hope to get permission to knock down and rebuild.
The last was going to be last Sunday evening's. I'll have another go.
Don't think it's worked. Oh well.
