Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cupcake flowers wine sunshine smile

Alea Sat 26-Sept-15 15:47:31

Seems a likely explanation, charleygirl but whoever they have "looked" in the past, it's stopped, sort of been and gone.

loopylou Sat 26-Sept-15 15:52:22

Oh Nelliemoser, that cake is brilliant- I wouldn't even attempt making anything like that! On the rare occasion I made a C......s cake I ended up scraping off my attempts to be clever and applying a thick layer of roughed up royal icing.....that promptly set like concrete and shattered when you tried cutting a slice. I have to say the DCs and DH still remind me about making Concrete Cake blush

Alea ((hugs)), how worrying for you. I do hope the cause is picked up quickly so things can be sorted. It does seem he's bleeding somewhere.... Really hoping he'll be on the mend very soon.

Has anyone heard from pompa? Seems ages since I've seen anything from him.

I've just spent two hours wrestling with the wild clematis that's invaded the hazel bushes at the bottom of the garden. It's like 'The Day of the Triffids' down there hmm.

soop Sat 26-Sept-15 16:09:33

I have made purchased a whopping date and walnut cake. Everyone is welcome to have a slice as it is virtually endless in the delight it can offer to us lot especially Alea who needs an extra dose of TLC and a good cup of freshly brewed tea.

soop Sat 26-Sept-15 16:13:56

loopylou You have asked the very question that I was intending...'Where is Pompa?' Don't tell me that he's wandering around some garden centre with a trolley load of stuff for the garden. Either that, or he's enjoying afternoon tea and cake in the sunny garden.

Too many gardens in my message. I get carried away from time to time. wink

Charleygirl Sat 26-Sept-15 16:14:05

Date and walnut cake is yummy, thanks soop.

soop Sat 26-Sept-15 16:18:34

A warm welcome to gordino ...I hope that you'll be happy with us lot and, as we're all dead nosey, we are looking forward to hearing much more about you.

annodomini Sat 26-Sept-15 16:19:36

It was glorious this morning and really warm, now rapidly cooling down. I had my flu jab this morning, painlessly. There was a lady of 93 having hers at the same time. Made me feel quite youthful. Then I had a walk it the gardens at Quarry Bank Mill where it was quite hot as they are on the steep and sheltered side of a valley. Bought some C****** cards in the NT shop. Oh dear!

loopylou Sat 26-Sept-15 16:23:08

Ooer soop, thank you I definitely will indulge. I'm suffering.
I pulled out of a pot a six inch high stunted looking stinging nettle with bare hand (normally do this if only one or two) and my hand ..........serves me right for being stoopid hmm. Not expecting any sympathy just wanted to winge but I'm sure coffee and walnut cake works much better than anything else!

Won't unfortunately get me out of doing the ironing .......

soop Sat 26-Sept-15 16:25:49

Iam64 You are most welcome to pop in and have a brew...the more the merrier. grin

anno You did what? !!!!!
Yes, this week we are also having our annual flu jag (as the nurse puts it) . It is like a party when the villagers gather in the hall and enjoy a blether with tea and biscuits. I suppose that is a bonus when one lives in a small community. No-one remains a stranger for long.

soop Sat 26-Sept-15 16:28:21

loopylou I hardly ever wore gloves when pulling out nettles. After a time the skin is well and truly numbed...'though much later...argh!

NanKate Sat 26-Sept-15 16:43:29

Well Nelliemoser can I have a piece of your wonderful cake as it is my 69th tomorrow ?

Loopylou sorry about the stinger they are awful aren't they.

No nothing of Pompa for a while. Earlier this year I said PapaOscar had gone missing and someone said he was still on GN under a new name, and it was rather a clever at that. So I started sleuthing and decided POGS must be Papa Oscar Gransnet. Then a few weeks later POGS revealed she was a woman. shock. So I still don't know if he is amongst us.

It's odd the men go missing.

soop Sat 26-Sept-15 16:59:34

NanKate You have made me chortle. Our Pompa has been spirited away before only to turn up with a cheery smile and updates regarding his family. I do miss him.
And, may I be one of the first to wish you an exceedingly happy birthday for tomorrow. Will you be celebrating? MacSporran's 75th is in early November. Every year I ask...'would you like to do something special?' Every year he replies...'every day is special. I'm perfectly happy without any extra fuss.' smile

loopylou Sat 26-Sept-15 17:01:05

Perhaps they defect to a dadsnet inaccessible to we females?

Nelliemoser Sat 26-Sept-15 17:07:17

Alea Good to hear from you again. You are having a tough time. I hope your OH and you get some good news soon. flowers

soop Sat 26-Sept-15 17:16:15

On a happy note I shall away to feed Tortoiseshell cat. The sun is shining and she is sitting beside the wee chalet. Rory is also basking in the sunshine. He is at the front of the house. From time to time he meets with his daughter (one of many) and they sit staring at each other. I often wonder whether he wishes that he had remained feral. hmm MacS is convinced that he (Rory) has never had it so good...wink

It is countdown time to a Saturday evening G&T. I shall raise a glass of cheer to you all.

Until tomorrow...(hugs) for those of you who need them.

Hello soop and friends, it seems a while since I was here but I could smell cake! Date and walnut sounds delicious, so I'll just have a wedge small slice please.

Alea you must be worn down worrying about your dh, so rest awhile in here with us brew cupcake and a cushion for your back.
Nellie that cake is brilliant! Well done, you'll be the best granny without doubt! smile

Bellasnana Sat 26-Sept-15 17:40:17

Well done indeed, Nelliemoser, that cake is a work of art smile

Sorry you are feeling 'battered and bruised', Alea. You really ought not to let people upset you. They aren't worth it. As I have no doubt said before, quoting the Dalai Lama "Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace". I often have to remind myself of it when dealing with idiots annoying people grin

Sorry to hear your DH has been so unwell and do hope he will soon feel better flowers

Busy day here looking after young Bella. Also two house viewings, both second visits so keep your fingers crossed for me, girls wink

Alea Sat 26-Sept-15 19:25:49

We're sitting in A&E [ sad]

annsixty Sat 26-Sept-15 19:32:31

Alea flowers

annsixty Sat 26-Sept-15 19:38:01

Bella I know it isn't my concern and I am probably speaking out of turn but it is out of feeling for you that I say I do hope you are not being taken for granted by your DD. You said you are looking after Bella 90% of the time. Please leave some time for you flowers

Nelliemoser Sat 26-Sept-15 19:56:40

Alea That sounds scary you were posting just a few hours ago. I hope all goes well.

Alea Sat 26-Sept-15 20:11:53

No cupcakecupcake or brew . DH's Hb has dropped to 8.4. Right place.

kittylester Sat 26-Sept-15 20:23:48

Alea (((hugs)))

NanKate Sat 26-Sept-15 20:59:40

Alea we are all rooting for you and DH.

Thank you Soop we are going out for coffee in the morning and that is when I am going to present DH with my Bucket List of all the things and places I want us to visit in the next 2 years. We have got to an age that whilst we are still hail and hearty that we need to do the things we often talk about but don't do. For different reasons, which are quite valid, DH is always busy, but I want us to have time together whilst we can. Hope my plan works.

Then we are going out for a nice birthday lunch at one of my favourite places to eat in Oxfordshire called The Quince Tree.

Night night all. moon

annodomini Sat 26-Sept-15 22:05:05

soop, sorry to have offended! I see that MacS must be about the same age as me. My 75th is on Guy Fawkes day! So I will toast MacS while I will no doubt be having large glasses of wine forced down my throat by my DiL.
