Day One of my personal challenge, no alcohol for September - anyone care to join me ...? brew

Anya Tue 19-Jan-16 11:04:46

Oh it wasn't anything too unusual, just a taster session with Rock Choir. Think I enjoyed it hmm

I liked 'Living on a Prayer ' but then I like Bon Jovi, and 'Don't Stop Me Now' but hated 'Respect' by Erasure.

Still wondering if it's worth the money......but it does get me out the house.

It's brass monkey weather today for sure. Had to deposit all 4 GC at three different schools this morning so chasing around like a blue arsed fly maniac then walk back here for a strong coffee. But at least I'd clocked up 5945 steps by 9.30.

Dry yesterday again.

Oh JG how worrying for you that your DM is ringing late at night confused. Hope you managed to sleep last night and that the memory session today is helpful.

Maggie walking on the side of shoes is a neccessary skill don't you know? grin

jogginggirl Tue 19-Jan-16 10:40:31

Good morning Anya - anything to report -
tcrgrinwinkgrin

In off to attend a 'Managing Memory' session with my DM - hope she's remembered hmmconfused
And then to take on the might of Social Services... ??
xx

Maggiemaybe Tue 19-Jan-16 09:14:36

Oh, jg sad I do hope Social Services come through for you and your mum.

And that Anya lets us all know what she's up to now - the mind boggles! grin

Just 3000 slow limps with DGS2 yesterday - he's perfecting the art of walking on the side of his foot grin - and not many in prospect today at the senior viewing of The Martian we're off to. I am drinking the water though....

jogginggirl Tue 19-Jan-16 00:10:12

Doh!!!

Dry day 18...!!!

tcrgrin

jogginggirl Tue 19-Jan-16 00:08:38

Come on then - out with it Anya - what did you do that was new today ...? I've been checking in on here throughout the day and now I won't be able to sleep....?

Put me out of my misery please ??

I need some shut-eye ..... pleeeeaaaassseee Anya hmm

I just typed a great long post about my day trying to get Social Services on board to help my DM - then I read it back - it was so depressing that I deleted it hmm

Instead, I'll just go to bed (which I should have done an hour ago, but my DM rang me to ask me where she was and when she was moving into the School House??? - it took a lot of reassurance and repetition before I convinced her that she is in her house and she's not moving and yes, she is allowed to use the kitchen - I persuaded her to make a cuppa and then toddle off to bed) ?

Dry day 17

Yes Roses we have three chucks left, Cous Cous, Delphine and Violetta - three French hens grin they're knocking on a bit and we lost another three last year sad Never been on Escape, might have considered it when young but not any more. Just have decent sized back garden.

I'm back on course now and will Be Good until next Friday and Saturday when I'm having a birthday break. Hope you had a Happy Birthday Maggie?

Well done JG you are still hanging on on there and are an inspiration smile. I am pleased with my steps I must admit tcrgrin but that's a lot to do with my knee being better. You sometimes don't appreciate being fit and mobile until something happens. I really feel for those who can't get out and about because of some disability and enjoy the simple pleasure of a walk.

How is your DM physically JG? Sounds as it her hands are ok at least if she can unscrew and disconnect things hmm

Better get up and moving as I am going to try something new out today hmm

jogginggirl Sun 17-Jan-16 23:51:40

No Anya - you're not back to day one - it's just a blip and anyway you get a dispensation for all those steps and for introducing me to The Pobble Who Has No Toes by Edward Lear ... and for the fact that you already did a dry month in September wink

Chickens - have you ever been on Escape To The Country Anya - the house hunters always want space to keep chickens - just wondering if I've seen you on there hmm grin

I've had a day pretty much like yours maggie - btw - Happy Birthday for yesterday ?flowers ?cupcake I've eaten too much, sat around for too long but didn't drink wine

So ... you'll be back on track after Wednesday - Happy Birthday to Mr maggie as well ??

Hi roses ??

Dry day 17.

rosesarered Sun 17-Jan-16 20:50:28

Lay a little egg for me.???????

rosesarered Sun 17-Jan-16 20:49:48

Yes, I thought that, chicks, how nice, how many have you got Anya?

Maggiemaybe Sun 17-Jan-16 18:13:45

Well, Anya, you're still putting me to shame! I've just had a lovely lazy day lounging on the sofa, watching well-wrapped-up sledgers passing the window heading for the hill at the bottom of our street and indulging in lots of telly we'd recorded but not got round to watching. Including the first two episodes of the fab War and Peace (self-satisfied sigh).

I had a good walk round the local shops yesterday, so clocked up 8000 steps, as opposed to 800 today, but have to say my alcohol consumption has been through the roof this week (sorry, gang), and my calorie intake must be astronomical. It was my birthday yesterday though, so I'm claiming immunity from prosecution (or criticism!). DD2 and family, including young Hopalong, joined us for lunch, followed by carrot and raisin cupcakes he'd helped to make (and which I've been snacking on all day) and DH and I braved the snow last night for a posh 7 course taster menu locally, so I was very spoiled.

I'm actually feeling quite sluggish now, and in need of a dry few days, but as it's DH's birthday on Wednesday, I foresee more self-indulgence to come grin

Anya, you have chicks?

Anya Sun 17-Jan-16 09:35:56

Ashamed to admit but fell off the wagon last night. We had our next door neighbours (from fire house) round for a curry as she's been looking after our chicks for us and they were late arriving, very late.

It's no excuse but I gave in and had a wine while I was watching the rice turn soggy waiting for them and then thought 'what the heck' I've blown it now sad and had another with the meal.

So now am I back to day 1 or do I jus carry on and count that as a blip?

Hope all your GC's toes are safe and well now JG and Maggie and they're not following in the footsteps (!) of a The Pobble.

Stepwise I'm doing well managed 65,000 in last 6 days smile

Thank you for the virtual cherry drink JG I'll try to stick to that from now on.

jogginggirl Sat 16-Jan-16 23:34:43

I love a 'day trip' maggie - I like to pack a picnic and just get off - we don't do it enough these days sad I vote we bring back the word 'chara' ... ?didn't we have ? a lovely time the day we went to .....? smile

I hope DGS2 is OK and not in too much discomfort - ha ha - they do get away with a lot when 'in the wars' and they know exactly how to milk the situation - fish fingers heal everything dontcha know ... wink

Diva 2 has been with me all day today which did indeed make it a 'better day' - she is a great character and I love the friendship we have ❤️

Dry day 16 tcrgrin
8,506 steps achieved - thanks to diva 2 smile

Maggiemaybe Fri 15-Jan-16 21:10:40

Oh yes, 3572 steps today, 3177 yesterday, not too much water drunk and it's 2110h and I'm still online shock

Tomorrow will have to be better!

Maggiemaybe Fri 15-Jan-16 21:07:32

Oh dear me, jg, I think you're a marvel to have kept "dry" this week, with the time you've had. I am in awe.

Liverpool is really worth a visit. I have only been twice, on day trips (how old does that make me sound? I might as well add that we got there by chara grin), but going back for a couple of days is on our list. We spent far too long in the (excellent) Beatles Story, and there is so much more we didn't get to.

I have been quoting you to DD2 today, jg. She rang for reassurance as DGS2 fell off a chair (not on my watch, happily) and somehow hurt his big toe nail, would you believe? It is bruised and bleeding slightly, but it's obviously not in the same league as diva 2's, as I could hear the invalid giggling in the background and demanding more Calpol and fish fingers for tea....

jogginggirl Fri 15-Jan-16 20:21:21

Anya I like the analogy - just another 5k to go smile

I found something for you today in Waitrose - pic attached tcrgrin It says you can enjoy it hot wink

Hope all is well with this gang - it's been a long old day here sad A tough session with the lovely support worker from Alzheimer's Society when I found myself getting very emotional. DM smiled all the way through it and came over as quite 'normal' confused hmm

I think I said on here a month or so ago that the Careousel was working well dispensing DM's medication - today it is broken ? - something about it making too much noise so DM levered off the back of it to remove the batteries shock Now it's well and truly bost ... hmm

This will be dry day 15.
4,645 steps ☹️
Tomorrow will be a better day.

Anya Fri 15-Jan-16 07:38:31

If you do go JG don't miss the great new development between the docks and pier head. There's a lovely new, modern museum and a wonderful new shopping centre.

Well done on reaching the two week point. Just another 5k to go.

Are you still cruising Galen?

jogginggirl Thu 14-Jan-16 23:16:29

Galen
grin

Hoping to make a trip to Liverpool before then as well - DH went last year - a photographic day - looks like a beautiful City - it's ridiculous I haven't been there already shock

Two dry weeks completed tcrgrin

rosesarered Thu 14-Jan-16 22:48:24

Boom boom! Good one Galen grin are you still on your cruise?

Galen Thu 14-Jan-16 19:36:38

Not if wearing a good bra (ie well supported)

jogginggirl Thu 14-Jan-16 19:15:21

confused

jogginggirl Thu 14-Jan-16 19:15:07

But wouldn't I fall over Galen
[conused]

rosesarered Thu 14-Jan-16 17:25:34

Some good looking Santas there ( if a bit on the effeminate side) tchgrin

Anya Thu 14-Jan-16 16:25:07

No tunnels in Sefton Park JG grin and glad your DM enjoyed herself, you can sleep a bit easier on two counts tonight.

Galen Thu 14-Jan-16 16:00:15

You hate tunnels? The answer is to do that part blindfolded! grin

jogginggirl Thu 14-Jan-16 15:01:08

Ooo-er...feeling a bit pressured now- note to self - Do Not Make Important Decisions After 10pm At Night ??

I hate tunnels - I'm claustrophobic but anyway it's somewhere called Sefton Park - I've never been to Liverpool in my life so don't have a clue confusedhmm

Still ironing curtains, making beds and generally making sure that DD and Diva 2 will definitely not be coming back to us be comfortable tonightwink

An amusing tale about DM when I advised that she was being picked up this morning and taken to a coffee thingy at the church hall - she said 'I'm not sure I want to go" - always her first response - so I asked if she was dressed and she replied "yes, I am a little" confused I quickly realised she had heard 'stressed' not dressed - bless her? She's back home now and had a lovely time and is so glad she went ?

Diva 2 made it to school today - phewgrin
