September Dryathlon
(1001 Posts) Day One of my personal challenge, no alcohol for September - anyone care to join me ...?
You're just showing off now! Grrr I thought the royal one would work.
That's it now, my repertoire is exhausted!
Show off!
I did wear the ra-ra skirt for the 80s do in the end
, which was all the more daring of me when it turned out that fewer than 30 people had braved the torrential rain and howling wind to attend and only two of us had dressed up, apart from a couple of period T-shirts. It was a great night though, with lots of dancing, and I managed to clock up over 12,000 steps, which proves I did my share! And my poor old throbbing bunion and slightly throbbing head confirms that a good time was had. There'll be no
for me tonight!
About 300 steps today
It's been a horrible day again weather-wise, and the Xmas Fair I was planning to walk to was cancelled, so I've spent nearly four hours cursing over putting together one of the DGS's Christmas presents, a Playmobil castle. Shame I was half way through before I realised that one of the hundreds of pieces was a handy tool for inserting the fiddly little fixings I'd already broken two nails on....
Right, where's that stepper?
Foul weather here today too, thought the windows were going to blow in at one point!
Good job I've got the trampoline set up in the other room otherwise I'd only be doing about 100 steps a day I think!
Another one here defeated by the weather and vegging out on sofa all day. Typo yesterday 'twas indeed DiL's 40th not 49th
Good on you Maggie for donning the ra-ra and boo hiss to those who didn't bother to dress the part.
Smiling to myself at Ana's indoor trampolining, just wondering if it's a street facing room? Now you see her, now you don't.
How's ya doing Roses? Tobleron hurt because they're triangular and one always bangs the roof of my mouth. Painful chocolates. Not the giant ones though I don't think I could fit a whole piece of one of those in. Now strawberry creams are gentle chocolates - on the rare occasion there's any to be had
Hope things are going OK JG - we seem to be ships that pass in the night just now?/
I can't let this Toblerone thing go..... It's just too important.Lobby your MP's right now, sign your e-petitions, e-mail Corbyn! No mouths have been hurt ( although a few teeth may have rotted)By this fantastic Swiss product. As you know, Swiss chocolate is more fabbydoza than British chocolate( which is inferior, and come to think about it, Swiss cuckoo clocks are better too, and Swiss trains always run on time....) I could go on, but I won't.
Please don't...
Actually, the way to tackle a Toblerone is never to bite into it, but snap off one triangle and then with a sideways motion, nibble a bit off until the teeth can get a bit of traction into the thing.I am now a world expert at it.
Sorry folks, was pretending to be Swiss.
Another fab product..... swiss rolls!
Swiss Army Knife! (is there actually a Swiss Army?)
There are Swiss Guards Ana but they wear skirts.
Here's a little fact, Swiss young people are conscripted for at least two years, and have no choice in the matter, and yet the Swiss take part in no wars.
At least, that used to be a fact, things may have changed, it could be that these days they are conscripted into the cuckoo clock making business, or even into the Toblerone making business.Somebody will know!
Where do you buy strawberry creams btw as I now want some urgently.
Hi gang
Hope you are all well
Hope you have found some strawberry creams roses - you might have to buy a box of assorted and covet the sc's - or, if you have a specialist chocolate shop near you - you might be lucky enough to make a small selection of just sc's - but don't say anything about it on here ...... they might just disappear on the ether. Oh flip - I've just broken into the Christmas Roses (??!!) tin and found the strawberry creams!! I've saved you a couple roses but I can't speak for my dh ...
Well, the Christmas tree is up and looking beautiful - I'll try and attach a pic at the end - steps are just about meeting the target..... but yes, it is December 1st tomorrow so I do need a new goal.....
Before the horrid virus - I was running (treadmill or road) 3-4 miles a day - so I guess if I can just get back to doing that maybe 3-4 times a week, I will be happy.
Life is pretty hectic just now with family 'stuff' - I have a meeting with the doctor at my mum's tomorrow - she seems to be experiencing some hallucinatory episodes and I'm not sure if it's the new medication or just the normal dementia process....this is so hard. I have spent the day on the phone to GP, Age UK, meals on wheels, Alzheimers UK etc....
My daughter's M.E. and Fibromyalgia has kicked in again - so more help is needed there - she has a 6-year-old diva and is a single parent....and the issues with my son - although improving - are still uppermost in my mind....
Thank God for my fabulous DH - if it wasn't for him I would have eaten the whole box of Roses and then ruined my healthy diet as well as eating all the sc's.... lol
Fair to say I won't be having a dry December .....

Maybe January.......
I wish you all well with your new targets, christmas tree decorating, mince pie making buying, present wrapping, mulled wine drinking and joyful gc's faces on meeting Santa, seeing their first christmas trees and receiving a precious letter from Santa ...
Night night
Oh dear Roses .... that's one major difference between this and Soop's Kitchen, we're not offen around during daylight hours ....!! Creatures of the night are we
Just spotted they wee Tam o'shanters on they wee heids
- it's nae Burns Night GNHQ
could yea no find a wee St Andrew's Flag hen?
Anyway ..strawberry creams...you'd better address that question to Maggie she was the last one to taste any. Re the Toblerone apparently Billy Connolly agrees with me - just google Billy Connolly and Toblerone
Well tomorrow is December and I'm back on my low carb diet so wish me luck. Hope everyone else is good???
Blimey JG x posts. Will have to read yours as it wasnae there a second ago!
Sounds hectic JG and you have rather too many balls to keep in the air at this time. Do check your mother doesn't have a uninary track infection, that can make this much worse - hallucinations included. I hope your daughter can get something to help her conditions too???
Our 'tree' goes up tomorrow, but not managed to rescue much so keeping it low key. May post a picture or two tomorrow.
Meanwhile
and for everyone's sake let's hope the weather improves.
PS never thought about nailing the tree to a wall - we usually put ours on the floor.
PPS it looks lovely
Your tree looks gorgeous jg!
Sorry you're having such a rough time, family-wise, but glad you've got such a sterling DH.
Yes, Dec 1st tomorrow - will try to keep up the steps but doubt I'll be taking on any more challenges this month! Roll on January...

Anya I am about both day and night!
JG sometimes family stuff gets a bit much, doesn't it?Particularly when we don't feel all that well ourselves. My daughter has ME as well, and a really difficult child to bring up.Hope that the GP will help with your Mother.
Oh heck Anya - we've far too many baubles on our tree - what colour would you like and I'll send a few - just red and silver I'm afraid....
I'm not getting the tam'o'shanters either .....
And yes, you're right about the UTI - I will be collecting a sample tomorrow ready for the doctor's sweaty mitt.... it will be fine though because my mum uses half a loo roll to wrap it in anyway ...

The tree isn't nailed to the wall - it just sits midway between the kitchen and the dining room ....mind you nailing it to the wall is a good idea when the flippin' lovely divas are around... lol
Glad you and Ana like the tree - it cheered me up today - to be fair it takes a bit to knock me over completely - don't tell DH but I just ordered a lovely Christmas dress on M&S (reduced) - well, a girl deserves a treat don't you agree....
Thank you so much Ana for
